Among its architectural masterpieces and other urban attractions, Melbourne, Australia also boasts the largest shopping center in the Southern Hemisphere. Chadstone, or rather "Chaddy" as it is sometimes referred to by locals, is home to a various collection of shops that ranges from Target to Tiffany's.

The luxury fashion precinct of Chadstone is actually a new addition, though. The elegant boutique section includes Burberry, Gucci, Coach, Chanel, and more with other major labels rumored to move in soon.

Chanel celebrated the opening by releasing an exclusive 2.55 quilted lambskin bag, which contains a special plaque inside to commemorate the launch.

“It was created by Karl Lagerfeld exclusively for the launch of our new boutique at Chadstone, which opened on Wednesday,” Susie Stenmark from Chanel Australia tells us.

You'll have to be in Australia to get your hands on one, though. This limited edition handbag is only available at the label's store at Chadstone.

I'm fairly certain that the words "pretty" and "nylon" don't go together all that often when it comes to high fashion, but evidently Marc Jacobs is attempting to change that with the Pretty Nylon Tate collection from his trendy designer line Marc by Marc Jacobs.

It's by no means the first time a designer brand has utilized nylon for a handbag. Even Kate Spade has gotten in on the action with her Coney Island Stevie Satchel. This use of the sturdy material on the Tate, however, is not particularly compelling to me despite its popular label.

The Pretty Nylon Tate is indeed made from durable, easy-to-take-care of nylon and could be called cute, in my opinion; but I'm just not completely sold on the pretty part. It's certainly not unattractive, but it's no Loopy Bow Pouchette or other feminine Marc by Marc Jacobs design.

On the other hand, I like the unique logo topstitching that covers the tote but doesn't stand out too much. It's just enough to add a little something to the simple design. The knotted handle rings are a nice touch as well. In addition to the practical material, the Pretty Nylon Tate has convenient double side pockets on the exterior as well as a very roomy lined interior for carrying around tons of stuff.

Soft and squishy Nappa leather and unique patterns are nothing new to luxury label Miu Miu, but I'm not used to seeing much shine on their handbag designs. That, however, is not the case for the brand's recently unveiled Resort 2010 collection of purses.

Forget patchwork and matelasse elements. This time it's about quilting and shiny jewels. The new collection is full of the label's signature Nappa leather combined with shimmering jeweled straps and quilted effects.

For the most part, I'd classify these resort designs as evening bags; not only because of their fancy details but also due to their size. There's not one in the bunch that's too large to carry clutched in your hand. They might not be everyday purses, but they're definitely ones to make a luxe statement.

With its cute moniker and even cuter looks, the Tic Tac Tote could only be a Vera Bradley bag.

The name comes from the subtle cross-hatch design with sits over Vera Bradley's signature vibrant prints. This pattern takes us back to childhood with its Tic Tac Toe board appearance. It's playful, but so skillfully done that it doesn't detract from the design.

Like so many Vera Bradley bags, the Tic Tac Tote is available in a massive range of colors and prints. This one's known as Frankly Scarlett, but if it doesn't excite you there are nine more to choose from.

A cute tortoise-shell toggle may not be the most effective security feature, but it does suit Vera Bradley's whimsical vintage style. The Tic Tac Tote isn't very large, but the quilted interior should carry most everyday essentials. Bucking the oversized trend, this is a tote tailor-made for girls who don't want to be weighed down. The removable baseboard is another practical touch. Just take it out and toss the tote in the washing machine to get rid of any unsightly stains.

I'm all for quilted handbags, but ones that look like down comforters or puffy vests make me hesitate a little. That's why I'm undecided on this Kate Spade Coney Island Stevie satchel.

On one hand, I like the idea of a practical nylon handbag that's given a quilted design to set it apart from just any run-of-the-mill nylon tote. You can't say Kate Spade isn't at least somewhat original. On the other hand, this large quilting with button detail looks more like something I'd wear to go skiing ... or maybe just a blanket to cuddle up under on a cold day. Though I'm sure it's not the intended response, I can't help but think "snow bunny" when I see version of the Stevie.

It's not the actual bag style that bothers me, however. The Stevie satchel is a popular choice from Kate Spade and one that comes in a variety of textures and fabrics. The Classic Noel Stevie is a perfect example of how different the silhouette can look with a different façade.

Of course, snow bunny fashion just might be your ideal look. If so, this Coney Island Stevie's puffy, cozy exterior combined with its roomy interior is right up your alley. In addition to this Kate Spade kelly green, this satchel also comes in red, black, and a berry fuchsia color and retails for $295.

It's a rare day for me to be calling a $1,900 handbag a surprisingly affordable option. Well, maybe I wouldn't quite call it affordable, but I was at least somewhat pleasantly surprised by the starting price point of designer label Balmain's highly anticipated handbag line.

For a label whose items include a nearly $14,000 leather jacket for sale on Net-A-Porter, a collection of shoulder bags with a price range of roughly $1,900 to just over $3,900 seems almost reasonable ... or at least slightly attainable for some shoppers.

Consistent with previous rumors of the collection's designs, these Balmain bags include plenty of embellishments. More specifically, you'll find quilted stitching, strategically-placed smatterings of studs, and even a little fringe among the bunch. Each one has an edgy, contemporary twist that is indicative of Balmain's signature look.

This somewhat small line of handbags, including the priciest Punk Suede Shoulder Bag shown above, will be available on Net-A-Porter's website this coming Monday, October 19. See all four styles from the collection at Bag Snob's website.

A good wallet isn't necessarily difficult to find, but finding one that will last for years and will switch easily from purse to purse is not always the easiest task. For that kind of wallet, Hobo International is a great place to start.

It seems ironic that a company with the word "hobo" in the title is such a go-to brand for pocketbooks, but Hobo International is hardly limited by the name. From satchels to briefcases to clutches and wallets, this label has got it all. Its wallet styles, like the Robin and the Lauren, are timeless, well-made, and just plain stylish. That's why the Clio Wallet fits right in with its simple, clean lines and quality construction.

Although some of Hobo International's wallets are big enough to double as clutches, the Clio definitely seems more practical as a pocketbook than handbag. That being said, it's sizable enough to function as a small bag on a casual night out.

The accordion-style interior is typical for a wallet but nonetheless convenient. There are plenty of slip pockets for cards and IDs as well as the standard zippered pocket for cash and coins. The front flap is secured with a snap closure that opens to reveal a nifty ID window on the back.

Rampage is a typically affordable handbag brand but one that sometimes doesn't quite hit the mark for my personal taste. The pretty Michelle clutch is one of their styles that I can applaud, whereas the Amber tote is a bit too much like a circus tent for me.

That's why I was somewhat surprised to find this Hazel Hobo within a list of recent Rampage releases. Although I'm not sure what brands I might have placed it with, Rampage definitely would not have been one of them. There's a unique design sensibility to the Hazel that stands out as somehow both simple yet detailed.

Though certainly not the only color combination available, this light gray with brown is so appealing in its subtlety really allowing the details on the front to stand out. The quilted stitching on the synthetic leather is accentuated by the thin patent strips woven throughout. I was very disappointed to find that the interesting woven detail is not continued on the back of the hobo bag, but at least the quilting is repeated instead of having a plain back.

The opening of the purse closes with a magnetic snap, but there's also a functional drawstring that loops through the top of the hobo and allows you to cinch in the sides for either a little extra security or just a different shape. This Rampage Hazel bag retails for $98.

Sometimes I just have to laugh at Betsey Johnson's quirky but fun handbag names like Party Hearty and Made In The Fade. I'll admit that I was expecting something completely different when I ran across the name of this Whips & Studs Clutch, but the actual handbag turned out to be even better than I had imagined.

Although I'm sure I'm not the only one who can envision a bedazzled and tassel-covered creation from the designer, this Whips & Studs purse earns its name from one lone, yet rather large, tassel with a simple stud-like detail around the top which hangs from the zipper pull. Just admit that if you hadn't already seen the image of it you'd be picturing something a little more rock-and-roll inspired.

The simple studded detail around the tassel mirrors the intricate diamond-shaped quilted pattern on the leather, or perhaps it's the other way around. Either way, the two features, studs and quilting, complement each other beautifully.

This clutch would probably fit right in with the oversized category since it's larger than many others, but it's not enormous and bulky like some styles. While quilted leather might not have been what I'd expect from a purse with the name Whips & Studs, this Betsey Johnson design is effortlessly chic and would be a perfect semi-casual accessory for a wardrobe. It just begs for an outfit with subtle edginess like skinny jeans with studded heels or jewelry.
