Bottega Veneta is a brand which tends to take fashion seriously. But here with this ladybug shaped coin purse, the Italian label shows it has a lighter side.

The brand's signature intrecciato woven leather is passed over in favor of soft brown deerskin. It may not be instantly recognizable, but this hide is ultra luxurious. The ladybug's spots are stamped into the leather, while careful cutting and complementary stitching creates its wings. The frame closure and engraved metal clasp add a classic vintage touch to this fun design.

It's called a coin purse, so don't expect this ladybug to hold much more than loose change and a couple of essential cards. The suede lined interior adds a little class to the fairly basic interior.

It might seem like a novelty at first, but by keeping the colors neutral Bottega Veneta has created a quirky purse with some serious staying power.

Bottega Veneta has given its popular Cabat handbag a New York makeover for the NYCabat, a strictly limited edition purse from the Cruise 2009/2010 collection. Only 50 NYCabats will be sold exclusively through the brand's New York City store.

The new NYCabat is crafted from intrecciato nappa leather. By hand-brushing the leather using a technique inspired by traditional shoemaking, the black pigment on the surface gives way to a bright yellow below. This black and yellow color combination calls to mind the iconic New York taxi cabs.

"I loved the graphic black and yellow of the taxi cabs when I first visited New York City in the 1970s," explained creative director Tomas Maier. "For me, as for many others, the taxi was shorthand for New York: bold, unyielding, exhilarating, a vehicle, quite literally, to so many possibilities. The new Cabat reflects my feeling that, as much as the city and the world have changed, New York remains incredibly vibrant."

Each NYCabat will have the city and individual number inscribed on a sterling silver plate inside. Preorders of this strictly limited handbag will be accepted through Bottega Veneta's 5th Avenue store. It will hit shelves, albeit briefly, in November.

This on trend handbag retails for a meager $35, so unlike the Bottega Veneta there's no scrimping and saving required!

Bottega Veneta is going to be getting some great exposure thanks for luxury retail giant Bergdorf Goodman. The store plans to pay tribute to Bottega Veneta's elegant and timeless creations.

Bergdorf's Fifth Avenue location in New York City will showcase many of the designer label's items in their legendary store windows for the ultimate window shopping experience. The feature will include handbags, shoes, jewelry, apparel, and more.

The collaboration also includes a limited edition Fenice tote bag that will only be available in a very small quantity at the NYC store. Only 25 of these exclusive handbags are expected to be produced. The new Fenice will have the signature Bottega Veneta intrecciato weave with a subtle copper metallic effect.

The showcase begins with a party in honor of the design company's creative director, Tomas Maier, and proceeds with a new display unveling in the days to follow.

Spring is springing up all over the department stores, and with it has come a new crop of woven handbags. Bottega Veneta is, as they sometimes do, leading the pack on this trend with their recently released purses in traditional intrecciato. With this Half Moon Clutch, Bottega ups the ante by combining specchio kid leather, karung, ayers, and nappa intrecciato detailing. If these Italian words don't mean anything to you, just know that they are different kinds of leather, from shiny (specchio) to snakeskin (karung), and intrecciato is a style of weaving.

Complicated foreign nomenclature aside, this clutch is simple, classic, and gorgeously made. The combination of colors and textures is perfectly balanced, and while it makes me feel like Spring to see all this weaving, I can see this bag taking you right into Fall with no problem. The tones are light enough for summer, but rich enough to complement almost any color palette.

The 11" x 6" x 3" size is great for stowing your evening essentials, although I think that the Half Moon Clutch would also be a great daytime party bag. Half moon shapes are always my favorite for handheld comfort, and I think this bag is only going to get better broken in with a lot of hand holding.

The only drawback I see on the clutch is the price. At $1,650, it isn't really formal enough to use with a fancy evening ensemble, but it isn't really big enough to become a great everyday bag. Still, if your tax refund comes in big, maybe you'll feel like splurging on a bag that is definitely beautiful, but slightly impractical. If you're like me, though, you might just admire it from afar.

Known for their classic, modern designs, Bottega Veneta pulled out all the stops on another new take on the traditional intrecciato clutch. Redefining the woven clutch seems to be a theme of the fall line, although this bag does it in a totally different way than the Neon Woven Box Clutch.

Bottega Veneta managed to pack a whole lot of luxe details into this gorgeous little clutch. It only begins with the subtle tiger striping superimposed on the soft woven texture of the clutch. I love the way this combination of pattern and texture gives the clutch an exotic, but earthy appeal.

The simple frame top of the clutch is made of deep, rich brown leather, instead of the usual shiny metal, which makes for a nicer complement to the neutral tones of the bag than a shiny gold or silver tone would. I love the signature knot clasp at the top; it really works with the overall natural look of the clutch.

The 12" x 7" x 5" size is large enough to take along in the daytime, and the nuanced color palette ensures that you'll want to. Bottega Veneta is striking all the right notes with this rich and super-wearable clutch.

My initial impression of this Bottega Veneta clutch is WOW. I mean, seriously, who but Botega could do a modern take on the classic intrecciato clutch with such verve. They took a style that is so familiar and remade it into something that both retains the old school appeal, and adds a dose of devil-may-care.

I can't get over the color. The glorious apple green is so current, it makes you forget that neon is actually a retro trend. The woven design adds a layer of texture and a geometric edge to the rounded off box shape of the bag. The tonal leather trim around the edges of the box is a subtly luxurious touch. 

The brass knot clasp at the top is like the cherry on top of a hot fudge sundae. It brings the whole look together, but is delicious all on its own. This would add fabulous contrast to your favorite little black dress, or for a more daring look, could be paired up with this season's brightest brights.
