I've seen so many woven handbags from Bottega Veneta that they're almost starting to get boring. So I was excited to see this very different looking purse from the Italian fashion house.

It's not just a new look for Bottega Veneta. The Cushion Bag looks like no bag I've ever seen more, and when you see as many handbags as I do that's really saying something. There are many different Cushion Bag styles in Bottega Veneta's catalog, but the one that's really won my heart is the Mosaico Cervo. The name comes from the embroidered leather finish which looks like tiny mosaic tiles. The tiles sit close together on the sides of the bag, before becoming scattered haphazardly along the top. The texture makes it hard to look away, so don't be surprised if you turn a few heads carrying this baby.

The bag opens with two zips positioned between the rolled shoulder straps. I wish the zipper didn't extend quite so far, as it interrupts the purse's sexy curves, but it does mean you can open the cushion bag wide. A leather trimmed zipper pocket and an open pouch help keep your girly goods in order.

Bottega Veneta purses never come cheap, and this stunning cushion bag is no exception. At $4,380, this is one expensive piece of arm candy, but that shouldn't come as any surprise to those who worship at the Bottega Veneta alter.

Betsey Johnson appeals even more to the wild side than normal, if you can imagine, with this Betseyville Lucky Stripes Hobo. Instead of simply whimsical, cutesy, or retro like other styles from the brand, this handbag is exotic and dramatic.

Forget subtle details, though Betsey Johnson isn't always known for that, the Lucky Stripes bag takes this design full throttle with a blend of printed animal patterns, shiny metallic trim, and bright colors. There's nothing understated about it.

This shimmery fabric hobo is large in size and will fit plenty of extra items like magazines, paperwork, and even the bonus tiger-face zippered pouch that comes with the purchase. Although the handle isn't really long enough to wear across the body like a messenger bag, it is a comfortable length for getting things in and out quite easily.

The real surprise, however, is the fact that the solid-colored fully lined interior is printed with a large Betseyville logo on one side and embroidered lips on the other. The Lucky Stripes bag is completely reversible allowing you to decide whether you want to sport bright animal print or a solid color with embellishments. When you factor in the bonus pouch, that comes to a total of three bags for one price of $88.

Prezzo Flower Shop Handbag | Fun Affordable Black Embroidered Fabric Purse

Most Prezzo purses I've spotted are strictly after five affairs, with polished patent leathers, glittering sequins, and plenty of flair. So this Flower Shop handbag from the brand really comes out of left field.

This purse reminds me of a Radley bag, with its embroidered flower shop and playful personality. The vibrant thread contrasts with its black fabric background, ensuring the design really pops. It may not have the sequins and sass of many Prezzo purses, but a shrinking violet it is not.

Of course, that embroidered pattern is sure to polarize bagistas. Many will love its whimsical, almost Parisian look, while others will consider it juvenile and without charm. If you fall into the former camp, the design isn't likely to change your mind. Many fabric bags forget the features, but this isn’t one of them. There's a zippered pocket on the back, and another one inside. There's also a slip pouch which is perfect for holding your cell. A zip top closure keeps everything safe and sound.

For a mere $14.99, this is a fun bag for a trip to the farmers' markets or a picnic. It won't go with everything, or suit every occasion, but for that price I'm willing to overlook those limitation.

Cole Haan Biscayne Tote | Colorful Mosaic Embroidered East West Handbag

Cole Haan tends to serve up reserved, work-ready accessories in traditional neutrals like black, brown, or beige. But with the Biscayne Tote, the brand shows us it knows how to have fun.

From a distance the tote looks like woven wicker, but the effect is actually embroidered. Red, orange, pink, and purple rectangles come together to create a mosaic-like design. It could easily become busy with all those different hues, but by keeping the palette complementary the combination is cheerful and fun.

You'll buy the Biscayne for the look, but love it for the features. A zippered envelope separates the interior into three convenient sections. The same patent leather which forms the base trims the pockets inside. This gives them extra strength, and extra style. I only wish Cole Haan had thought to include a magnetic closure. The open top style may be convenient, but it's not very safe.

All those colors might put off Cole Haan's conservative fans, but the Biscayne just might win over some new ones. If these pretty warm tones don't suit you, consider the marine toned blue and green tote.

Ralph Lauren Houndstooth Hobo Bag | Camel Colored Fabric Everyday Handbag

Ralph Lauren combines casual cool and British charm to create this chic Houndstooth Hobo.

The fabric finish gives this bag a relaxed style, but it's a little different to the boho vibe we associate with hobos. The shape's a lot more structured, and that houndstooth print creates a preppy private school feel. The brown checks are complemented by thin strips of black leather trim.

By keeping the leather to a minimum, Ralph Lauren keeps the price down to an affordable $70. That's a bargain for the brand's fans, who will love the embroidered signature which sits near the base. Thankfully for the rest of us, it's subtle enough not to upset the design.

Of course, to cut costs Ralph Lauren has cut a few corners. If you're looking for a handbag that will organize itself, this isn't it. There's only one zippered pocket inside, which isn't enough for a space of this size. While it isn't the largest hobo I’ve seen, those fabric walls do encourage us to overstuff. Be careful though; without slip pockets you may struggle to find your cell phone if you cram too much in.

But all in all, this hobo is very understated, and very Ralph Lauren.

Hello Kitty PVC Baguette | Kitsch Cartoon Purse with Kitten Motif

On a cold dark day, everyone could use a little dose of Hello Kitty style sunshine. You either love the Hello Kitty brand or you hate it, but no-one can deny how happy, carefree and downright cheerful the little cartoons are.

This cheap and cute purse by Hello Kitty is just the thing to break yourself (or your child) into the Hello Kitty mania that is still so popular. Remarkably restrained for a brand that is normally so ... well ... pink, this purse has a much more neutral color pallet.

The materials on this kitsch baguette couldn't be expected to be "classy", and I have say expectations are definitely met. In shiny PVC, everything about this is cute, wipe clean and functional. The embroidered large Hello Kitty logo, however, is a nice textured touch to an otherwise plastic bag.

Cute and childish, this Hello Kitty PVC baguette is a bit like Marmite: you either love it or you hate it. In comparison to other purses by the same brand, however, it is much more muted and less in-your-face.

Alexis Hudson Tango Clutch | Luxurious Scalloped Snakeskin Purse

I am on the look out for a smart yet pretty clutch for the upcoming Christmas party season. Whilst trawling though page upon page of average clutches, this snakeskin purse caught my eye as an interesting bet for sophisticated winter looks.

This purse is best in the lovely deep cobalt blue, and I am particularly drawn by the textured layering of fold upon fold of snakeskin leather, with cute scale-like scalloped edges. The smooth edges are contrasted with the solid square shape and dramatic lines.

Whilst the unusual hardware is an attractive feature on this pint-sized clutch, I worry that the hassle involved in open both of them will make this bag more work than it is worth. As such an expensive option, you really expect ease of use to balance brilliantly alongside good looks.

Whilst the dual compartments inside this purse are very useful, this clearly isn't the focus of the designer. The luxury leather and stunning color may speak for itself, but I hesitate about owning a bag with no handle option at all!

Mad Imports keeps it casual with this cute Leilani clutch.

It's made from natural-toned raffia, jazzed up with an adorable embroidered bird and leaves design. Each Leilani is a little different depending on the color you choose. I love the swooping swallow on this ocean blue clutch, but the blooms also come in punch pink, mango orange, and apple green. Each has a slightly different bird, so you're really spoiled for choice.

Don't buy the Leilani expecting bells and whistles; it's all about the looks. There are no shoulder straps, no pockets, and only a snap closure for security. But there's something refreshing about that pared down design, which seems entirely appropriate for such an organic purse.

Like all Mad Imports bags, the Leilani is a real change from the mass produced high-end designer clutches we so often see. Every purse is handwoven and made following fair trade practices in Madagascar. It won't suit a black-tie gala or any other upmarket event, but its simplicity and colorful design have its own appeal.

I can see the novelty wearing off when trying to tie this up at the front of a busy queue, but it is very pretty!
