Christopher Kane is one busy 27-year old. This young fashion designer, who originally hails from Scotland, has been making big impressions on his own and with other major labels.

On the heels of his capsule collection of rock-and-roll worthy bags, shoes, and jewelry for Versace's re-launch of their hip line Versus, the award-winning Kane is getting ready to release his fall collection for retail favorite Topshop. The preview for this much-anticipated line is sure to get shoppers even more excited for the items to hit the shelves.

The collection consists of mostly affordable apparel, shoes, and handbags. Though the edginess of the line is completely tame compared to Kane's Versus designs, there is still an abundance of studs and other metallic details mixed in with some ultra-feminine dresses.

If you happen to be in New York City on Thursday, you'll be celebrating (along with the rest of the fashion district) "Burberry Day". The mayor named the day in honor of the upcoming opening of Burberry's new US headquarters.

In addition to the excitement of the opening, Christopher Bailey, creative director of the label, announced that the Burberry will return to its roots for a season. Their Spring 2010 collection for Burberry Prorsum will once again show in London during fashion week in September.

“It just feels right,” says Bailey. “There’s such great momentum and energy here within the brand.”

Unfortunately for Brits, the move from Milan to London for the upcoming runway presentation is a temporary situation for now. Other designers, especially promising stars like Christopher Kane, are hoping for more of the kind due to the wide publicity that Burberry's switch brings.

“It’s really good for all of us,” says Christopher Kane. “The injection of attention again is great. Hopefully, they’ll come, and then come back again.”

I have to agree with Kane on this matter. It's good to see Burberry getting some spotlight for heading back home. After all, they do owe their success to London.

As the spring season rapidly approaches, we're starting to see the newest trends emerge. One of the major frontrunners of the bunch is the addition of studs to all kinds of accessories.

This rock-and-roll hardware is appearing on everything from handbags to shoes in every style. Of course, we saw a glimpse of this even before the rush of fashion weeks when Mary-Kate Olsen paraded around with one of Alexander Wang's stud-bottomed creations before its release to the public (still waiting for that one, by the way).

Another collection to focus on this hard, edgy vibe is the newly unveiled accessories line by Christopher Kane for Versus. Even pretty bag designer Rebecca Minkoff has dabbled in the trend by creating studded versions of a few of her popular bags like the Devote, the Nikki, and the Morning After Bag (shown above).

The result is dramatic to be sure. I wouldn't recommend wearing the trend on more than one item per outfit unless you want to look like a member of Van Halen. However, it's a trend that's bound to take off in the mainstream. Just remember to keep it in moderation and you're ready to rock an outfit with a bit of Kate Moss edgy chic.

By now, it's old news that Versace's funkier brand Versus is coming back to life. And I reported last week about Christopher Kane's collaboration with the company for an accessories line. Well, Milan Fashion Week has brought us a sneak peek of what's to come for the revived brand.

Fashionistas, get ready for an edgy side of Versace because Kane's line of bags, shoes, and jewelry for Versus will be anything but ordinary. Think structured, studded, tasselled, and embellished with lots of metal. The handful of handbags that I've seen (like those pictured here) look like something that could withstand a nuclear disaster ... or at least a daily beating.

You can expect the price range of these new accessories to be somewhere between $800 to $2600. I'm not sure how this is particularly more affordable and "accessible to the streets" as Versus has been hailed, but the styles are definitely intriguing. However, I'll withhold my full opinion of the line until all has been revealed.

On the heels of the recent announcement of Versace's re-launch of their younger, hipper, more affordable offshoot Versus, we recently found out that Christopher Kane will be temporarily joining the company's team to create a line of handbags and shoes for the rejuvenated brand.

The British designer isn't new to the company, though. He has worked with Versace's Autelier Couture line and even consulted on some of their accessories making this new Versus collaboration right up his alley.

Kane was recently in the spotlight at London Fashion Week with his new autumn/winter collection. The up-and-coming designer has quite a celebrity following and has been showcased on several popular retail sites including Net-a-Porter.  

Look for more info about his Versace Versus bag and shoe collection at Milan Fashion Week, which is right around the corner. Evidently Kane's mentor Donatella Versace will be making the announcement herself. Now that's flattery indeed.
