This cute hobo from Calvin Klein is more uptown glamour girl than flower power princess, thanks to its sexy metallic shine.

The genuine leather gives the Metallic Pleats hobo a little slouch, but it's not as pronounced as many bags of this type. The stitched pleats create extra structure and style, which makes this purse a great option for day-to-night wear.

At least, it is if you know how to travel light. It is called a mini hobo after all! The slender profile really limits storage space, so beware if you own a chunky wallet or like to have a fat novel on hand. Another practical limitation is the strap, which is just that fraction too short for comfortable over-the-shoulder carrying.

This dark hematite shade is my favorite. It's a little less glitzy and more reserved option than the bold silver version. Of course, many bagistas love that light bright look, so it’s nice to see Calvin Klein offering both metallic options.

Calvin Klein shows you don't have to spend a lot of money to look a million dollars. This Rain clutch has movie star style, and it costs just $78.

The secret is the fabric: a high quality synthetic which has all the gloss of genuine patent leather. The fabricated texture adds to the air of authenticity, while upping the chic meter! The polished silver-tone frame completes the Hollywood glamour look. The clutch is available in an array of colors, but none of them make the silver really pop like the basic black bag.

The sleek and slender silhouette has just the right amount of class. It's ideal for tucking underneath your arm, although there's a dainty chain strap if you prefer hands-free carrying. Of course, that narrow design means we lose a little storage space. It's not an altogether unexpected drawback, but one worth considering if you can't travel light.

The synthetic fabric means this isn't the most luxurious evening purse you'll find, but it does a pretty good impersonation of one!

Calvin Klein Liquid Leather Purse | Woven Patent and Ribbon Wristlet

Calvin Klein seem to like woven design techniques on their handbags at the moment. Their latest addition, this Liquid Leather Wristlet, features elegant weave on a small clutch scale.

I particularly love the color of this wristlet. Available also in black and "chino", this patent purse works best in the bright tangerine orange shade that catches eyes and hits trends with minimal effort. Vogue-style orange shade aside, this small clutch revels in a combination of luxury patent leather interwoven with coordinating ribbon. The textures build up depth, and the combination of bondage patent and little girl ribbon at once seems both risque and innocent.

Musings about the fabrics of this Calvin Klein handbag over and done with, I must mention that whilst the outside is modern luxury through and through, the shiny silver/pearl satin interior adds a somewhat strange contrast. Not only to the two colors not work together(they don't even clash in a fashionable way!), but silver satin in combination with patent leather always risks looking tacky.

If you ignore the lining of this tiny woven wristlet, then the rest of the purse with its hardware logo and folded top is actually quite desirable. It's pricey, at $138 dollars, but probably the most desirable seville orange handbag going.

From Ralph Lauren’s luxurious Purple Label comes this ultra opulent alligator bag.

Drawstring bags tend to be a relaxed affair, but there's nothing casual about this exotic purse. As if genuine alligator doesn't have enough oomph, this skin is given a metallic bronze makeover. Personally, I feel this glitzy coat cheapens the look. The brassiness makes it resemble an imitation exotic rather than the real deal. And with its whopping $20, 000 price tag, I'd want to people to know my bag is authentic!

The exterior doesn't impress me, but the inside has me salivating. It's fitting that such a luxurious space is lined in buttery soft chocolate leather. It's not the most practical choice, but something tells me anyone who carries a handbag worth $20k isn't so concerned with everyday issues! But sadly, this is another case of style winning out over substance. It's lacking in the organization department, although if you dropped this much on a purse you might not have the cash to buy anything to put in it!

This bag's gaudy finish is not to my tastes, and its retail value is not to my budget, but I can imagine the Paris Hiltons of this world embracing this show pony!

Calvin Klein Stays Sleek for CK Fall/Winter 09 Campaign | New Manbags and Handbags for Fans

When I think of Calvin Klein fashion, words like chic and contemporary come to mind. Well, now I need to throw in another descriptive word for the brand: European.

There are plenty of people who would argue with me on that considering the label's American origins. However, I need only point to the new Calvin Klein CK fall/winter 2009 ad campaign to validate my statement.

This compilation of shots speaks for itself. There is an absolutely undeniable Euro-like styling to these advertisements. From the slicked back hair to the solid black attire, there's almost a modernistic viewpoint going on here as well. Even the red haze cast into the shots adds to that overall look. I can't help thinking about the Matrix movies series.

The models' tight-lipped pouts and solemn expressions fit right in to the vibe, though I find it just a teeny bit hard to take a man wearing leather gloves and carrying a nylon satchel quite as seriously as he obviously expects to be taken here.

The campaign was photographed by Craig McDean and stars stern-faced models William Eustace (seen above) and Sigrid Agren with a few shots including Jourdan Dunn. If I couldn't tell that Sigrid has a ponytail in one of the photos, I'd say it's kind of hard to tell her apart from Eustace in some of the close-ups. See more of the photo shoot here.

Calvin Klein has always seemed to produce relatively conservative handbags, with plenty of function and not so much fashion. The brand, with its timeless pieces and classic styling, has seemed hesitant of embracing transient trends and funky looks.

Thankfully this cute woven clutch looks set to bring this iconic brand into the realm of the big handbag giants. The shiny patent leather with exaggerated thick trim looks great with the sleek shape and vintage styling. In combination with the woven exterior, Calvin Klein are definitely cool again.

The chunky clasp decorating the front of this compact clutch continues the bling of the bright patent leather with a structured yet sleek design. The optional chain handle, however, doesn't quite ring true to the theme, and may have looked better in matching leather or sleek metal-look fabric.

Lined in sleek gray satin with coordinating leather trim, this is an elegant and sophisticated bag with a modern twist.

Calvin Klein Pocket Satchel | Sporty Polyester Handbag in Painterly Print

Painterly prints are all the rage this season. I, for one, am loving the look, which comes in many shapes and sizes including the fashionable Hayden-Harnett Pamela Dowell.

This Calvin Klein version of the trend is much sportier than the Pamela Dowell Ladybag but no less stylish, to be sure. It's hard to believe that seemingly hand-painted brushstrokes are printed on polyester fabric. However, this Pocket Satchel is as convenient and possibly more trendy than some other fabric handbags from brands like LeSportsac, a few exceptions aside.

Yes, it's cute and sporty, but it's definitely practical beyond its easily cleaned material. As its name suggests, the Pocket Satchel has quite a few storage spaces for stashing things. There are a couple of bulbous pockets on the front to keep helpful items handy as well as a zippered interior pocket for important stuff. For even more practicality, the inside is lined in nylon.

The red print might be a tad too bold for you, which is why Calvin Klein provided two other options. The Pocket Satchel also comes in black and a dark purple color, both on a white background like the red. The regular retail price is $168, though you can currently get it on sale.

Calvin Klein Picks 15-Year Old Model Monika Jagaciak for Fall Campaign

Just when I thought the fashion industry's big brands were heading further away from using the up-and-coming models or even models at all (like Buzz Aldrin for Louis Vuitton), one proves me wrong and chooses the next big thing for an ad campaign. 

Maybe big is the wrong adjective here since the new face of Calvin Klein's Fall 2009 ads is only 15 years old. Polish model Monika Jagaciak, known as "Jac", supposedly nabbed the gig last week and just might be the exclusive choice for the campaign. 

Jac is no newbie when it comes to modeling, though, since she has appeared on more than a few covers not to mention a Hermes campaign two years ago. Ironically, Jagaciak didn't appear on Paris runways because of age restrictions. It certainly doesn't sound like her age is slowing her down now!
