Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers label is normally loud and lairy, but she's toned things down for the Cupcake cosmetic bag.

The design has none of the colors typical of the brand, but this purse still has plenty of personality. The natural toned canvas forms the ideal background for Gwen Stefani's playful design. Pale grey ink mimics the diamond quilting of a classic Chanel bag, while darker black dye forms pretty pearls and buttons. When so many inexpensive purses have bare backs, it's nice to see a hand-drawn logo plate there.

While Harajuku Lovers doesn't skimp on the design, it does let us down on features. This purse is too small to hold most cosmetic sets, making it more appropriate for a night on the town than weekends away. There also aren't any pockets so keeping your glosses and powders organized is a bit of a challenge.

It's called a cosmetics case, but I could imagine the Cupcake working just as well as a casual clutch. That makes the $38 price tag seem extra affordable.
