Botkier Claudia Satchel | Simple Designer Bag with Lattice Detail and Studs

59 sec read

At first glance, I wasn’t sure how much I really liked this Botkier handbag. I’m generally a fan of the label’s designs, but this one just seemed kind of “plain Jane” when I first took a peek at it.

Just look a little closer at it, though, to see some interesting features that cause it to earn its keep in the designer world. What first appears to be a simple slouchy tote becomes something a bit more appealing. My favorite detail, and the one that really stands out the most, is the lattice-shaped insert that seem to come out of the handle anchors.

Latticed leather strips sounds so ordinary for Botkier, a brand that usually has a contemporary or trendy twist on their bags. I’m sure that’s what the designers were thinking when they scattered some metal studs throughout the feature. It doesn’t really add an edgy vibe, as so often studs do, but rather draws the eye to the detail and makes it more modern.

Though I like the effort at combining slouchy and structured, I’m not a huge fan of the floppy top of the satchel that seems to have no amount of support. I much prefer this style with the optional longer, and ultimately more supportive, shoulder strap. It sure beats carrying around a tote this size in your hands.
