Valentino’s Alessandra Facchinetti Fired After Paris Fashion Show

40 sec read

Alessandra Facchinetti is leaving Valentino after less than a year as creative director. She was allegedly fired only two hours after the brand’s ready-to-wear show in Paris on Friday.

Style By Me is reporting that Ms Facchinetti was bitter about her dismissal after reporters told her she was being replaced. Her employment was apparently terminated because she was unwilling to draw on Valentino’s exhaustive archives for inspiration.

Valentino’s accessorie designers Maria Grazia and Pier Paulo Piccioli will step into the position, and they already have the endorsement of the big man himself!

They (Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli) are two serious capable professionals that I had alongside me for many years,” Valentino Garavani said. “They always demonstrated an enormous respect and love for my work.

There is an existing archive with thousands of dresses where they can draw and take inspiration from to create a Valentino product that is relevant today. It is a shame that their predecessor didn’t feel this need …

Ouch! Alessandra Facchinetti replaced Mr Garavani when he stood down in January.
