A wallet is one, whether you are a guy or a gal. Whatever your gender, a leather wallet offers so much to everyone that wants organization in their lives!

Whilst there are plenty of silly and gimmicky purses and wallets out there, it is probably fair to assume that the real "lifers" will be the ones that deliver on performance but which aren't slaves to trends or fashion. A classic design is vital, therefore, especially if you are spending the sort of money that a quality wallet design like this one from Floto demands. They don't come cheap, and this particular traditional example could set you back $144.

Whilst the buttery soft leather is what makes this so expensive (the designers boast that it is dyed with Aniline, the highest quality natural dye available), I doubt whether the interior lives up the demands made by such a price. Three credit card pockets and an ID window just isn't enough; judging by the number of cards normal people have you would expect a lot more than that!

I think too much time has been put into the (admittedly lovely) leather, and not enough into adding function that goes above and beyond.

But, if you look a little deeper, you will soon realize just how practical it actually is.

Solid brown may be dull, but think of it this way; a dark shade like this will coordinate with many outfits, work for guys or gals, and will hide stains like a professional. For lugging your laptop around all day every day, you couldn't really ask for any more. It is available in a more country and western tan shade, but I believe the deep brown is much more sensible.

Inside, this is as useful as you could hope for. Whilst there are many pretty laptop cases on the high-street, not many of them have plenty of room for books and folders too, not to mention cute little pockets for pens and cards. It all neatly clicks and slots shut, meaning that as long as you aren't caught in a flood, the thick strong leather should protect your belongings. It is of course padded too, but you wouldn't expect any less even with a cheap bag.

All in all this is a functional if not beautiful bag, that will work particularly well for couples who travel frequently but don't want to shell out on a bag each.

To coincide with New York Fashion Week, Yves Saint Laurent has released a special limited edition unisex collection. The exclusive fashion range, designed by Stefano Pilati, will only be available this week from YSL's pop-up shop in The Bowery.

The look is inspired by Yves Saint Laurent's iconic 1960s tuxedos and the 1970s penchant for androgyny. You'll find wide trousers with wide waists and ankle cuts, sexy trench coats, snuggly cardigans, and ultra-functional handbags.

I'm not sure the man in my life would fancy the collection's feminine edge, but girls seeking a no-nonsense office look are likely to eat this up. There's also something so appealing about buying an exclusive range you won't see on every street corner.

If you love the look you'll have to be quick. It's only available from the 55 Great Jones store at The Bowery in New York until February 21. You have been warned!

The Star Embossed Tote is the epitome of understated utility. The large 14" x 16" x 2.5" size makes it the perfect take along tote for a light day of shopping, or to use as a bookbag or briefcase. Of course, at $437 retail, this isn't going to be an affordable everyday choice for everyone, but it is a beautiful, simple piece that will take you through years of use and trends.

The interior contains an open pocket for keeping your little items from falling to the bottom of the tote, but honestly, on a bag of this price, I would like to see a little more organizational ingenuity. A zipper pocket, for example, and multiple patch pockets for keys and cell phone might be in order.

Still, the sleek minimalism of the tote is seductive, and would work with many wardrobes. I might even go so far as to call the tote unisex, but I think it would take the right kind of man to rock the star pattern with confidence.

The foldover python leather flap with double strap closure in its generous 15" x 7" x 9" size makes for a practical and luxurious take everywhere bag. To me, it seems like a schoolbag of Gossip Girl style extravagance. I imagine Serena toting her MacBook Pro, iPod, and sleek sunglasses to and fro The Upper East Side in this soft-skinned tote.  The only catch here is the clasps. They seem a lot to fiddle with to get in and out of the interior.

And if you aren't a Manhattan socialite or happen to be someone for whom money is an object, acquiring this hot little number may be a little hard to handle. The retail price of over $4,000 makes this one elite carryall. So, while it was already on Mary-Kate's arm by fashion week, some of us may have to wait a little longer to get our own piece of Proenza Schouler's PS1 line. And, though the PS1 messenger line is touted as completely unisex, I wonder how many men will want to make this sleek snakeskin bag their own. Perhaps the smooth-skinned leather version is a better choice for him? At under $2,000, it's probably a more practical option for both of you!

So all-in-all, while the style and statement making potential of the PS1 Python Messenger bag is inherently covetable, it's just not a reasonable everyday bag for every single one of us.
