Michael Kors Skorpios Metallic Woven Leather Clutch

Michael Kors has always been able to attract the attention of American women. I'm not always a huge fan, but this Skorpios clutch is a great example of his best work.

Michael Kors really has a way with texture. The luxurious metallic finish on the Skorpios was created by interweaving slim strips of gold and silver leather. The effect is a multifaceted luminosity that is elegant and eye-catching. The gently weathering treatment makes it look soft and a little more casual, and the dark brown braided leather trim adds a nice contrast.

The foldover design is sweet and simple. The concealed magnetic fastening ensures that the surface of the bag stays free of unwieldy embellishment. This is a fabulous accessory to add a bit of low key glamour to your holiday evening wear ensembles. And at $495, it's not badly priced for a timelessly chic piece.

Wait, let me take that back. This is actually a whole lotta bling for one little handbag.

But, oddly, it doesn't look particularly overdone. It isn't exactly my cup of tea, but it's a cute bag that I think will find a lot of followers. The metallic leather colorblock pattern uses silver and gold to make a loud, but lovely, statement.

My favorite part of the bag, actually, is the boxy shape and the way the colorblocks fit into it. I particularly like how the silver leather strap detail sets off the mostly gold material. The silver hardware accents the metallics beautifully.

I also really like the dimensions of the bag. At 9" x 6" x 5", it's basically a box, which makes it really easy to keep things organized. Especially if you're like me, and your things are like five notebooks, a book, a PDA, and a compact, all of which are vaguely notebook shaped. In a more rounded off bag, these things never fit in perfect, they're always poking their corners out oddly. But this is a good fit for a bookwormish fashionista.

If you like a little bling in your life, the Miss Easy Way bag is a great way to take the easy way out.
