The House of Fendi is known for its quintessentially Italian approach to luxury, which is notoriously highly prized (and priced), but sometimes a bit over-the-top. The F6 Secret Code clutch sticks to the tradition with the most ingenious details possible: rockstar red mink-stamped leather and multicolored gemstone appliqués.

During Fall Fashion Week, the F6 was the handbag du jour, carried by both the models on the runway and also the armies of fashion elite in attendance. It has also been seen gracing the arm of Hollywood fashion icon Katie Holmes. So, what, exactly, is the secret behind the Secret Code?

In truth, it only starts with the amazing detail of the fur-stamped leather. The front slits and the patch underneath the flap closure are both lined with Fendi's trademark wolf fish fur, which provides a delightful contrast to the faux fur cherry red leather. The contrasting topstitch detail adds a little extra edge to the polished appeal of the leather, and the smooth goldtone hardware sets off both the texture and the color beautifully.

The quirky front flap closure tucks under the gem-adorned cutouts and fastens with magnets, so that it lays flat on the front of the bag. This streamlines the look of an already heavily-adorned handbag. The shape is simple and classic enough not to detract from the rest of the details. The long shoulder strap is adjustable for comfort, and is also stamped with the same mink print pattern.

This eye-catching clutch is a little bit eccentric and a lot glamorous. It definitely makes a statement, but one that has been slow to catch on from runway to street, except on the celebrity and editorial circuits. Personally, I love all the details in-and-of themselves, but when put together, the clutch seems sort of a mish-mash of styles that I can't imagine working in my wardrobe. That being said, the Fendi F6 Secret Code clutch clearly might be the right bag for a woman who knows the combination.
