The modern slouchy style is matched by the Liberty's versatile convertible design. The strap is long enough to work as a shoulder bag or cross-body. Alternatively you could detach it completely to use the Liberty like a clutch, either by lifting up the flap and using the cut-out handles or holding it in your hand.

That chain is simple but gorgeous in rich gold, a great complement to the purse's polished turnlock clasp and zips. I love the way the metal pops against the deep blue shade, but it's also very appealing against the forest green and mellow gray purses.

Just because the Liberty can convert though, doesn't mean that it always should. It's so big that I can't imagine it'd be easy to manage without the strap. Perhaps if you know how to travel light it'd be easy to clutch, but it seems a shame not to utilize all that storage space.

At $80 though, I don't mind if the Liberty's not quite as versatile as Big Buddha planned. It still looks great, which isn't always the case at this price point!

When I first laid eyes on it, I thought it was cute enough, and that the design seemed practical enough. I didn't dislike the bowler, but I certainly wasn't wowed.

That was before taking the Liberty out for a busy day of errands and shopping. Suddenly this bag that I liked well enough became one that I loved.

My enjoyment started as I packed my bag for the day. I needed my essentials of course, my wallet, lippie, keys, and assorted medications. Then there were the extras, the ones that test many of the bags in my collection. I'd need a magazine to read at the doctor's office, and my bulky camera to capture this happy snap.

Ordinarily my magazine gets creased and my camera weighs me down, but that wasn't the case this time. With so many pockets inside and out, the main compartment almost felt bare. The front pocket is cleverly designed, with two smaller slips hidden inside. I'd ordinarily worry about storing my keys inside an open pouch, but it's so deep that I was sure they wouldn't fall out.

Slinging the bowler over my shoulder, I couldn't believe how light it was. In fact, many times during the day I worried that I might have left something important behind! It was much lighter than the chunky leather bags I ordinarily carry, even with my camera inside.

And while the Liberty's appearance didn't impress me at first, I grew to love that too. The plaid print is timeless. It could have looked busy with the wrong outfit, but with something neutral like my white T-shirt and jeans it worked really well.

While this Yak Pak purse isn't the most luxurious in my collection, it's quickly become one of my favorites.

Liberty's scarf room in London is about to be taken over by Hermes. The British retailer will host a pop-up Hermes scarf and tie shop from September 7 to October 18.

The space will take the form of an oversized dressing up box, where visitors can experiment with the luxurious French creations. There's the iconic carre scarf, which can apparently double as a handbag, halter-neck top, and belt with the right know how. If you're going to pay Hermes prices, you might as well spend your money on something so versatile! There's also the innovative cravate-foulard, a unique tie and cravat blend.

Stylists and photographers will also be on hand to help customers create just the right looks, and record them for posterity!

The limited-edition store will also give Hermes fans the chance to snap up exclusive ties and scarves designed by Hermes Silk creative director, Bali Barret. These rare scarves are crafted from Liberty's famous Tana Lawn cottons, and screen-printed with Hermes famous Ex Libris design.

With the store only opening for six weeks, Hermes fans will have to get in quick to snap up these collector's items!

United Kingdom-based online fashion store Asos is bucking current economic trends, more than doubling its sales in the last year.

To celebrate, the proudly British company is toasting its heritage with a new limited edition handbag range. The Made in Great Britain collection sees Asos team with some of the country's hottest designers. Liberty and Thomas Pink are amongst the creative mind collaborating with the e-tailer on the range.

"We are celebrating that we are a UK company. We have had fun with it but it has a serious message," said Asos' chief executive Nick Robertson.

He's predicting the patriotic purses will be a big hit with the website's growing international fan base. Asos' global sales rose 173% year on year in the last month, an amazing feat considering the current economic downturn.

Limited edition Made in Great Britain bags will be available exclusively through Asos' online store this summer.
