The latest "Lily" isn't one for those who hate fur. With so many quality fur alternatives on the market you would have thought that a designer like D&G could make it out of something other than coyote but I shall leave that argument for another day.

There isn't anything subtle about this Twist satchel. Apart from the vast expanse of fur, you have a swathe of  soft, crinkled leather. Everything is about decadence, luxury, and making a fashion impact in the most obvious and expensive way possible. I don't just mean expensive looking, by the way; this satchel costs in the region of $1700. Ouch.

Away from the design you actually have a very practical bag. The "Three-Zip" part of the name applies to the three big center compartments, which are ideal for storing lots of belongings and toting around everything you need. At least this is sensible!

It certainly won't be for everyone, but if this is your type of handbag it is no doubt one of the most luxurious options out there.

This spotty furry purse isn't what I am used to seeing from the usually sophisticated Kate Spade brand! The cutely named "Cat's Meow" cross-body is the brand's nod to this season's fur obsession, and a fun one it is too.

I don't hate this. This fact shocks me, as usually the moment they feel the need to make a bag out of fur (whether faux or not) I can't get away fast enough. However, maybe it is the gentle pleating, or maybe it is the vintage over-sized clasp - but something has made me actually quite like this silly design! I am not sure if it would convince all my friendly animal print hating friends, but it will certainly give it a damn good try.

The bag itself continues the cuteness, moving on from the leopard print to a pretty spotty interior. The class is apparent here too, and it is clear that from the chain and hardware to the lining, Kate Spade has done her best to ensure that this looks classy.

Which means that sometimes his designs look a little weird. New is always weird at first. And the Marc by Marc Jacobs line has a lot more room to be experimental, as it has a more street smart audience and a lower price point. Even taking all these things into consideration, I have no idea where it's coming from with this Nico bag.

The fabric on the Nico is luxurious anthracite shearling lamb. Only it doesn't look luxurious. It looks like roadkill. I know that's a little harsh, but seriously, it looks like a gremlin or something you might find rummaging through your garbage. Ick.

The bag could have a perfectly lovely shape, but I really can't tell, because the fur is so fluffy that it just comes off as completely amorphous. So, let's talk about the strap, instead. Seriously? This jaunty, sporty strap looks like it should be on either a gym bag or an extremely pricey leather good made by Gucci. Really, though, aren't those the Gucci stripes just changed ever so slightly?

The most prominent thing about the Nico is the Marc Jacobs logo plaque, which is unfortunate, because it's just taking the reputation of the label down. I can't see anyone paying $495 for the privilege of carrying this bag. If you paid me that much, I might be seen with it, but only in neighborhoods where no one knows me.

The European fashion house has done that with the limited edition launch of its Muse Two LE bag.

When I say limited edition, I mean limited edition. Just 55 of these lush purses were made to sell at Yves Saint Laurent's boutique in Colette, Paris.

It may not be politically correct to gush over a genuine fur bag, but this is a beautiful example. It's made from impala fur, and is simply sumptuous. I wouldn't carry one myself, but I can understand those who decide to let their love of luxury override their ethics. I'm also glad that with YSL opting to make just 55 of the handbags rather than mass produce them, fewer impalas will meet a grisly end for the sake of fashion!

Twiggy has joined the chorus, slamming designers using real fur in London Fashion Week.

The America's Next Top Model judge is also the face of PETA's latest ad campaign, which features the provocative slogan "If You Wouldn't Wear Your Dog, Please Don't Wear Any Fur."

"I am very sad that some designers are still using real fur when the fake alternatives are so effective and so easily obtainable," she recently said. "These poor animals are kept in such terrible and inhumane conditions. Is it really worth this cruelty just for fashion's sake? I don't think so."

I must say that I agree with her. I'm an easily taken in by a furry bag as the next person, but I probably couldn't tell the difference between an authentic pelt and a very convincing fake. When the alternatives are so good, why indulge in fur?

"Louis Vuitton foxtail handbag accessories make me sick," she tweeted. "Please do not purchase those! It's heinous."

Her stance has attracted the attention of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), who have applauded her efforts in raising awareness of the use of fur in fashion.

"As designers flaunted fur during Fashion Week in New York, and the usual suspects are expected to be as vulgar in Milan and Paris, we're pleased Sharon is using her voice to denounce the cruelty," a PETA representative said.

With so many manmade alternatives available, it's a shame that so many fashion houses and consumers continue to equate fur with luxury. But in the case of the foxtails, I wouldn't care what they were made of. They'd still be ugly!

Decoratively, Timmy Woods has really gone all out to make this as bling as possible. That has been achieved with the decadent fur trim to the hat, the glistening green hat, the glittery gold beard and even the cute golden glasses. Subtlety isn't the name of the game!

Inside, as with many novelty bags, you don't get much space, and the hard exterior makes for a restrictive interior. With that bundle of laughs on the outside, however, die-hard Christmas addicts would say that it is worth it.

From the beard to the faux-fur, this $349 purse is one helluva stocking filler!

Leather, for the majority of the market, is OK. In a similar vein, eel skin shoes and handbags are acceptable to modern values, whereas fur ... fur is not. With so many alternatives for real fur, many of which are just as soft, it is generally considered pretty bad form to opt for fur over faux.

Don't get me wrong. I am aware that fur is soft, and luxurious, and comfy. This ranch mink hobo isn't stylish, but it is a status symbol for those who rank fur above all else, and who treasure its expensive form. I can even understand the acceptance of old fur before anyone knew better, which does seem to make sense. New fur, however, doesn't fit in here.

Of all the people on the fashion circuit, however, the most frequently seen faces are that of the PETA activists and animal rights campaigners. Not only would a mink handbag give them a heart attack, but it doesn't go down well with the fashion community.

All in all, even if this mink handbag was the most beautiful handbag in the world, and not a strange lumpy behemoth, it simply doesn't make sense to spend nearly $800 on something that could be bought much cheaper minus the fur.

Which is why I was surprised when I saw this tote. I thought to myself, "Isn't that whole furry, Uggs-y thing kind of over?" Apparently not.

I have to admit that despite my initial dismissal of the bag, there is something appealing about it. How can there not be? It's furry and soft, like a little pet or something. Personally, I'm not sure I want to carry a gremlin for a handbag, but I know this bag will find a lot of takers. It's too "bohemian decadence" not to.

What I do love about this bag is the strap. The leather and chain combination is spot on, and I love the combination of the rich brown leather with the soft gray fur. The huge size of the bag will also give it an audience, as it's basically the size of my overnight bag.

Overall, I think this Alpaca tote has a semi-mysterious charm that a lot of women will find irresistible. If, that is, they're willing to swallow the $2,440 price tag. You could have an actual pet for less. Maybe even one that looks just like this bag.

Following in the footsteps of Chanel, luxury brand Fendi has released what has to be the most stylish bicycle I've ever seen.

The new Fendi Abici Amante Donna is probably as chic as cycling can get with its crisp cream body and Fendi accessories. They're not the first to have the idea, though. Chanel similarly released a collection of bikes last year.

However, Fendi's take on the two-wheeled transportation is much more appealing to me because of its slightly vintage vibe. Can't you imagine Audrey Hepburn taking a casual trip through the streets of Rome on this thing?

This kind of on-the-road style doesn't come cheap, of course. The Fendi Abici Amante Donna has two options. One has a leather case attached and retails for $5,900. The more expensive version, which includes the leather storage plus fur saddlebags, runs for $9,500. That's a lot pennies, people.

Some might call it a waste of cash. If you can afford it and if you're in on the eco-friendly trend of bicyling instead of driving, though, this bike just might be worth it. It is Fendi, after all. If you'd rather have a Fendi you can carry, you might opt for the Patent Peek-a-Boo instead.
