The app interacts with a dedicated Amble website, so jetsetters can plan their next getaway on their desktop computer at home or their iPhone or iPad while they're on the go. Louis Vuitton calls Amble "an invitation to explore the world at a leisurely pace [and] make serendipitous discoveries."

These discoveries can then be recorded with text notes, photos, videos, and audio through the "My Amble" part of the app. It sounds like it has the potential to be a great travel diary and way to connect with folks back home, as users can share their favorite memories with friends via e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter.

Amble also draws on the information collected for the Louis Vuitton City Guides, although the number of guides provided free with the app is limited. Additional city guides can be purchased via iTunes, but that extra expense is something worth considering. The Amble app is free, but if you're a frequent flyer it's easy to spend a lot of money on those additional guides.

It's interesting that Louis Vuitton chose a travel angle rather than a more general fashion theme for its first iPhone app. However, perhaps this unique strategy will pay dividends for the brand. Amble is available to download now through iTunes.

Gucci has launched a new iPhone application, which celebrates fashion and music.

The program has a range of exciting features, including videos from Gucci fashion shows and its collections, photos of its latest and greatest style items, and news articles. For globetrotting stylistas and culture vultures there's a list of not only Gucci stores, but also fashionable restaurants, bars, clubs, and hotels in 33 international locations.

The real star performer though is the unexpected Gucci Beats section. This project was developed by the label's creative director Frida Giannini and British production whiz Mark Ronson. He's designed various loops which iPhone owners can use as a base to mix their own tunes. Once you've created your masterpiece, you can share it with all your friends on your social network pages. I'm not really sure what any of that has to do with Gucci or fashion for that matter, but it sounds like a lot of fun!

"There are over 35,000 apps available now on the Apple App Store, but one thing we've noticed is that very few of these apps are targeting women," said Carleen Ghio, co-founder of the Mobile App Studio. "As the iPhone market continues to expand, we wanted to ensure that fashion and shopping-related apps aimed at the female market are available on the Apple App Store to interest new users."

Using the new applications, iPhone users can browse shoes and handbags from their phone. The can narrow the search to only include favorite brands or styles. Browers can add items that catch their eye to their favorites list, which can then be e-mailed to themselves, or friends looking for the perfect birthday gift! There's also an offline mode which allows users to download their favorite products to drool over later.

iShoes and iBags bring together more than 50,000 shoes and 20,000 handbags thanks to ShopStyle.com. These products are constantly updated so the apps will always show the latest season's styles.
