Bally ups the sophistication factor of the traditional hobo with the Keli.

The crescent shape and relaxed form are pure vintage hobo, but there's a certain chicness here missing from those classic purses. This one's much more uptown girl than flower child, making it a more versatile choice for most fashionistas. The nappa leather and pleats bring that sophistication, while emphasizing that casual slouch.

I do worry about how sophisticated a purse of this size will look slung over a shoulder though. There's always the risk of overwhelming your frame with an oversized bag, and this one definitely fits that description. But at least there's the space to carry everything you need, and a few things you don't!

I'd have appreciated a few more color options, but it's hard to argue with the appeal of basic black. In this classic shade you could easily pair the Keli with a power suit during the day before toting it to the bar for a few martinis afterwards!

An expensive bag and luxury brand-name are all well and good, but that doesn't always mean that you will end up with an elegant and sophisticated purse. This over-decorated and dramatic evening bag from huge fashion-house D&G is a perfect case-in-point.

This individual key words for this bag paint a luxurious picture. The detailed and delicate beaded exterior, with its sparkling diamante layer. The soft deep-black tassel key charm, and the folded scrunched black satin fabric. Together, however, that spark of brilliance is missing.

Instead of heavenly, the actual finished result is a little over-the-top and a bit too much. I think the gold keyhole clasp clashes with the lighter silver diamante, and this in particular makes this very expensive luxury evening bag seem somewhat cheaper than it really is.

Slightly questionable looks aside, the bag is elegant and pricey. It may not be to my tastes, but that dramatic style may just be your cup of tea.

Lodis is a brand that knows its niche. It’s not one to take risks, but the label always delivers chic and sophisticated accessories.

That might make the Arno Runway seem like a bit of a misnomer. When I think catwalk I think of cutting edge styles and fashion-forward looks. There's none of that envelope pushing here, so if you're after a head-turner you may be disappointed.

But if you're already a fan of Lodis, or you're simply after an accessory that's traditional and timeless, prepare to be impressed. Just $118 seems like a steal for this genuine leather clutch. The berry-colored calfskin is stamped with exotic crocodile scales. Keeping the scales uneven and irregular gives the purse an authentic air missing in many embossed accessories. I might just be fooled by this one if I didn't know better!

It's not a large purse by any means, but the long, slim design strikes the balance between space and sophistication. Inside you'll find a zippered pocket for loose change and an ID slot for your cards. A magnetic closure beneath the flap keeps your party essentials in order.

In a world of metal-strapped clutches, the leather handle is a godsend. How refreshing to wear a strapless dress to a party and not suffer unsightly chain marks on your shoulder! Chloe is usually one of my tip-top favorite lines. But, lately, I just haven't been blown away from what it has to offer. Maybe I'm missing something, but personally, I think its fall line of accessories is, well, missing something.

Bags like this are exactly what I'm talking about. Am I crazy, or does this bag have a scarf? Does it need a scarf? Does it even look good? I'm not so sure.

The bag itself is fine, I guess, but for $1,405, I want more than fine. The color is a little drab, and without the bow, the bag is just plain and not a little boring.

I do like the unusually-shaped hardware, though, that connects the straps to the bag. And I'm all for a minimal style; I just think this one takes minimal a little far.

Isaac Mizrahi's show at the recent New York Fashion Week was quite a production. The designer with a personality as fun and crazy as his schedule brought a little of his quirkiness to the runway.

Mizrahi's new styles floated and flounced down the catwalk through an elaborate set involving two staircases, a platform, and even a little rain. The collection was reportedly inspired by "Fred Astaire, Anime, and 'The Obstacle Course to Glamour'."

Though the romantic silk and beaded paisley dresses were impressive, the accessories of the show were the real standouts. The belted shoes, flat-brimmed hats, and variety of handbags stole the show for me.

The common theme for bags was structure and more structure. The vintage-looking luggage cases and briefcase styles definitely had some Fred Astaire flair. Paired with the flat-brimmed hats, all that was missing was a cane. A few even looked like they might be holding a musical instrument.

The style was very specific and probably not up everyone's fashion alley, but I'm at least glad to see something different on the runway. No one can ever accuse Isaac Mizrahi of not being original. See looks from the designer's runway show here.

Jessica Simpson is sometimes hit or miss with me. There aren't many of the brand's styles that I absolutely detest, but I'm not always in love with them either. This Jimmy satchel takes a turn for the better as far as my opinion goes.

Yet again, you can't expect anything even remotely close to real croc leather or something that's a superb imitation when you're paying Jessica Simpson prices. This satchel is only $108, so there's no mistaking it for the real deal. However, people paying in this price range wouldn't expect it and probably wouldn't be disappointed by what they get.

With this interesting patchwork of faux croc textures and colors, I'm not particularly distracted by the fake material, though. The mix of neutral browns with a pop of this season's trendy purple color is very appealing to the eye. The colors work well together to create a versatile handbag despite the fact that purple is anything but a neutral by most standards.

What stood out to me as missing on this bag is the signature Jessica Simpson cursive logo sewn on the bottom panel. What's there in place of it is a J-shaped piece of hardware that actually functions as the Jimmy satchel's clasp closure. It was unexpected to me and quite clever. If I didn't know that this is a Jessica Simpson design, I probably wouldn't have ever noticed that it is shaped like the letter. Kudos to the brand for a little originality.

Eleven years ago, Jean Franco's black handbag was stolen as she worked at the now defunct Steinbach's Department store. She never imagined that this weekend, she's get her purse back.

The theft left the mother of two frantic with the thought that someone now had her car and house keys and valuable identification.

"I remember that night very well, and it was extremely traumatic. I felt violated," Mrs. Franco said. "I was sick that someone had all my information, all my keys and knew where we lived."

But she had little to worry about. Somehow the handbag ended up inside a sealed locker in a Shelton family’s garage. There it stayed, undisturbed, until it was discovered by 33-year-old garage owner Jennifer Thompson. It took her just five hours to track down the bag's rightful owner.

"I can't believe it, but that's it, that's my old handbag, oh my god," Mrs Franco shouted out to Ms Thompson as the two women met at the local mall. "I can't believe how heavy it is. Wow, what did I leave in there?"

As it turns out she left a large black cell phone, four times as big as the one she uses today, a wallet filled with photos and credit cards, $76 in cash, and a $128.41 payroll check from Steinbach's dated 1997. The only thing missing was her driver’s license.

"Maybe some teenage girl wanted to use it, who knows?" she said. "But it's very strange nobody took the money and credit cards, and I still wonder how it got inside that locker."

Mrs. Franco gave Mrs. Thompson a $25 reward from the cash in the wallet, and planned to use the rest to fill her car with gas. "It would have gone a lot further back then," she joked. "I probably could have filled it up two or three times with that money in 1997 or 98."

Could this wallet really be a Lovcat creation? I had to look twice to believe it, as the Pinch Lock II looks like something I'd expect to see from Kathy Van Zeeland or Betsey Johnson.

But sure enough, the label has traded in its usual art deco sophistication to create this bold purse. The large gold pinch lock hardware doesn't just give the wallet its name. It also dominates the design, acting as much more than a simple secure feature. Lovcat rarely puts it name up front, so it's surprising to see not just a nameplate, but an ostentatious one. There's no missing this crystal encrusted logo.

Surface impressions aside, this is a fairly practical purse. It won't suit compulsive shoppers, but there are enough features to satisfy most girls. There's space for four credit cards, two clear windows for ID, and a thicker slot for stashing a wad of bills.

The Pinch Lock II's larger-than-life design won't suit everybody, but there's definitely a market for it. That's especially true for wallets, which are tucked away in larger handbags for most of their lives. We might not want to carry bling around all day, but it's nice to whip it out every now and then. But I wonder why the Pinch Lock II only comes in basic black. Surely a purse this daring deserves a hot pink version for girls who really want to show off!

A dispute over a missing handbag came to a fiery head in Britain recently.

Birmingham Crown Court heard that transvestite Ricardo da Silva was attacked in his flat after he misplaced his friend’s Louis Vuitton handbag. His pals Gabryela Passos and Raphael Modesto doused him in petrol and set him alight. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Mr da Silva claims his friends’ property, which included a Louis Vuitton handbag and laptop computer, was stolen in a burglary. Clearly the attackers disagreed with that story!

Mr da Silva suffered burns to 70% of his body in the attack. He spent more than three months in hospital, and required 16 operations to recover.

Lawyers for Mr da Silva say the attack was a premeditated attempt on their client's life. The defendants deny the charge of attempted murder. Whether that was their intention or not, I think it's safe to say this trio isn't as close as they once were!

Matt & Nat have a knack for creating environmentally-friendly handbags that don't skimp on style. The Zed tote is the label's answer to the oversized trend. It's a purse that's as big on looks as it is on practicality.

It's made from the brand's iconic Japanese Paper vegan leather, a cruelty-free alternative to textured calfskin. I love the way this mustard bag shows up every crease and crinkle, but for a subtler look you could opt for no-nonsense black or gray.

You might be a little confused once you open up the top zips. Matt & Nat wouldn't line their bags in suede, would they? You're right, they wouldn't. Instead they've cleverly recycled plastic bottles to mimic the soft fabric we all know and love!

Oversized handbags often become unmanageable, but you needn't have such concerns with the Zed. Instead of one massive main compartment, there are two smaller ones. These spaces are much easier to organize so you needn't feel overwhelmed. While the short handles don't do the bag any favors, at least the Zed comes with a practical shoulder strap. I only wonder why you'd ever remove this convenient feature!

While the Zed is a big bag, it's also a relatively slender one. That gives the Zed the chic styling often missing in oversized purses. Without the bulk, the Zed wouldn't look out of place in the board room or a classy restaurant.
