Love it or hate it: the Gypsy Ruffles handbag by Christian Dior makes a big impression.

The soft calfskin ruffles that encircle the bag are sure to polarize fashion fans. Girly girls and hippie chicks will probably love the perforated frill, while no-nonsense bagistas will scorn its unabashed femininity. This red shade certainly makes the most of that divisive design, but other shades including mustard and basic black tone it down.

I don't mind the frill, but the Dior letter charms which dangle from the handle overcomplicate the design. Making them removable, as so many other brands do, would have satisfied label lovers and minimalist mamas alike.

Open up the top zip to reveal a space which strikes the right balance. There's room for the essentials and a few luxuries besides, but it's not so big that you'll feel weighed down. That's a good thing too, because the double wrapped strap doesn't look like the most comfortable carry handle!

This is a hobo that embraces its bohemian roots and its girly side in equal measures. It won't be to everyone's taste, but it's bound to excite many feminine fashionistas.

With Emma Watson gracing the face of every magazine in stunning Burberry creations, I thought the time had come to review a classic Burberry handbag like this elegant baguette.

I do love a good purse. I also love brands that aren't afraid to keep it plain, so it isn't surprising that this modernist yellow clutch really caught my eye. As with all great bags, the shape and lines of a good design speak for themselves, and this purse is no exception. With its gently curved corners and simple envelope style snap closure, I caught myself reaching absentmindedly for the credit card!

At this point, however, I though the bag probably begged a little more examination, and I was slightly hesitant about what I found. The color, granted, is quite beautiful. Even if you don't personally swoon over daffodil shading, this little gem hits all the right trend buttons with bright, bold colors. This isn't a half-hearted attempt at "yellow," this is diving in headfirst.

When you think about it, however there isn't much more to this bag. The handle is thin and simple (although probably strong), and the only touches of something different are with the gold colored hardware. The interior is satisfactory, with one little zip pocket, and I would say it was boring if it wasn't lined in luxurious brown suede. We have no fancy trimming, and no special touches. It is a classic, time honored design in a new 21st century shade, and that is all there is to it.

If you want subtlety, try this patent beauty, and if you want extra features try this red number. However, it's a great bag if you are looking for something with a designer edge, that is brave and bold, but not overpowering - for your look or your pocket!

Leave it to Fendi to make orangish-red look classic. Though it isn't one of the warm colors we've been seeing this season, the bright Mini Mama is sure to make any outfit pop.

The patent leather that seems to be a recurring trend right now looks stunning on this little Fendi number. The fashion child of the popular Fendi Mama from the past, the Mini Mama is smaller than its parent purse but equally stylish.

It can't be called practical due to its small size, and it certainly shouldn't be an everyday purse. However, this Fendi would be great for special occasions where you need a little something to spice up a simple outfit. Be careful what colors you wear with it, though. A bright tone like this one needs a basic color palette to accompany it. This handbag should be the showcase of your ensemble and doesn't need to compete with anything else you've got on.

The red is complemented by the gold hardware on the chunky chain shoulder strap and on the Fendi interlocking "F" that adorns the front flap. The wide base of the baguette-shaped purse is convenient for the times you, unfortunately, will have to set it down. Look for the Fendi logo stitched on the interior lining.

If the blend of tangerine and crimson isn't for you, don't disregard the Mini Mama. For those who prefer more traditional handbags, this one is also available in black or brown in Fendi's signature Zucchino fabric featuring the Fendi logo. The patent leather Mini Mama retails for $805.
