In saffron colored leather, this is a purse without any embellishments. Instead of fancy pockets or linings, Marc by Marc Jacobs have kept the focus on retro typeface decoration and high class materials.

This simple approach does make a specious bag. There are no pockets or anything to get in your way, meaning that this is perfect as a travel bag for a weekend away. The handles too seem to be designed to carry heavy weights, as they are far more useful than they are pretty!

All in all this is a useful yet unexciting bag. You are expected to pay $129.99 for this, yet get no luxuries - not even a lining. I'm not sure it's worth it - but it will come in handy!

I'm fairly certain that the words "pretty" and "nylon" don't go together all that often when it comes to high fashion, but evidently Marc Jacobs is attempting to change that with the Pretty Nylon Tate collection from his trendy designer line Marc by Marc Jacobs.

It's by no means the first time a designer brand has utilized nylon for a handbag. Even Kate Spade has gotten in on the action with her Coney Island Stevie Satchel. This use of the sturdy material on the Tate, however, is not particularly compelling to me despite its popular label.

The Pretty Nylon Tate is indeed made from durable, easy-to-take-care of nylon and could be called cute, in my opinion; but I'm just not completely sold on the pretty part. It's certainly not unattractive, but it's no Loopy Bow Pouchette or other feminine Marc by Marc Jacobs design.

On the other hand, I like the unique logo topstitching that covers the tote but doesn't stand out too much. It's just enough to add a little something to the simple design. The knotted handle rings are a nice touch as well. In addition to the practical material, the Pretty Nylon Tate has convenient double side pockets on the exterior as well as a very roomy lined interior for carrying around tons of stuff.

The news buzzing around Louis Vuitton's future advertising campaigns right now is that Madonna is out to make way for some fresh faces. The European style pre-fall starring with Missy Rayder were a hint of this change in direction, but the recently confirmed faces of the luxury brand are even more of a shift.

Following in some famous footsteps including Madonna, Naomi Campbell, and other recognizable faces is edgy new "it" model Lara Stone. The Dutch beauty is set to star in the label's upcoming spring/summer 2010 campaign.

Stone isn't the only hip, twenty-something model chosen by Louis Vuitton, however. Young but experienced Daisy Lowe will also star in upcoming ads for the brand. The previous face of Marc by Marc Jacobs will be starring in a sexy shoot showcasing LV's ready-to-wear spring/summer 2010 beachwear range that will also include shoes, bags, and accessories.

Though there's no word yet on particular themes for the upcoming photo shoots, both are guaranteed to be interesting and possibly provide a much-needed infusion of excitement for Louis Vuitton.

The Hills star Stephanie Pratt, the younger sister of Spencer, has become one of Hollywood's most popular style icons. But have you ever wondered what's inside her lustworthy accessories? Miu Miu Bags on eBay

The Marc by Marc Jacobs line has been a little bit uneven this season. There have been a lot of logo print bags that I'm not that crazy for, but there have also been some very chic and understated offerings.

This bowling bag falls into the latter camp. It encapsulates the trends of the season with its shiny gold hardware and supple black leather, but it's so timeless that you'll be able to carry it right until it falls to pieces. I'm not trying to say that it will fall to pieces anytime soon, though, as it certainly seems sturdy enough!

Overall, it's a pretty traditional design. It has the classic bowling bag shape, but without the colorblocking of most bowling bags. This gives it a less sporty look, which I prefer, and which makes it a little more reasonable for everyday use.

It also has these cute little pleats that add a little feminine twist to the structured style. And it also features a removable shoulder strap in case you get tired of carrying it by hand. Overall, this is a great, practical, versatile bag, and the price tag of $550 makes it seem more practical still.

Marc Jacobs is known for dipping into yesteryear to find inspiration, but he always seems to make it look current.

This Cat bag has a distinctly throwback 1970s quality to it, but also resonates with the current craft-style fashion movement. The deep brown leather and patchwork-style cat applique are both crafty and cute, but not so precious that you couldn't carry the bag and still feel like a grown up.

I love the shape of the bag. It reminds me of my childhood, and it always fits so nicely under the arm and against the body. I love the muted rich color palette; it's perfect for fall, and a little bit refreshing in this season's obsession with blacks and grays.

The price, at $450, isn't bad, either. This is definitely worthwhile if you have a dedicated vintage sensibility.

Ghibli brings its luxury leather styling to an altogether cuter plane, with this kitsch and sexy purse.

Much simpler than the designer's normal python leather bags, this little patent evening bag is a great party purse with a funky 50s vibe. That said, the over-sized red patent bow also has something of an 80s feeling, meaning that this is both on trend and kitsch in equal measure.

The cute and simple styling does actually conceal a surprisingly spacious handbag. They have built in a subtle pocket on the reverse and a large central pouch, all in the same ruby red shade. The slight slouch of this girlie purse really does work in its favor in terms of space!

Unfortunately whilst Ghibli did think of functionality with this patent clutch, they didn't necessarily think very hard. After all, there is no handle, optional or not, for you to use if you don't feel like clutching in all night. This is a shame, as this cute handbag could have happily taken you from dinner right through to the next morning.

Net-A-Porter has its newest edition of The Bag Guide out, and it breaks down the various style options we shoppers have for updating our handbag collections for the fall season.

The style categories on the list cover quite a range of looks, from classic leopard print and the "anytime-everywhere bag" to the "forever bag," which functions as both purse and work of art. The overarching theme of all twelve looks, however, is making a statement. It's a trend seen at recent runways shows as well, such as Versace's Alice in Wonderland-inspired collection.

As always, there are familiar designer names on Net-A-Porter's list. Alexander McQueen, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, and Bottega Veneta all made the cut with their stunning handbags. There's even a special appearance by Marni's Mini Balloon, which made the cut as the ideal "off-duty" bag. My personal favorites are the Bottega Veneta Karung satchel and the Yves Saint Laurent leopard-print Muse Two (seen above), both definitely statement makers.

Marc Jacobs Handbags on eBay

Hollywood actress Kirsten Dunst has appeared in a New York court after her Marc Jacobs handbag was stolen. The starlet says a Manhattan mechanic stole her purse during a movie shoot at the SoHo Grand in August 2007.

"It was probably a $2, 000 purse," she said of the brown Marc Jacobs handbag. "My purse had $2,000 in it, a pair of sunglasses, my wallet with all my credit cards."

It's alleged that 35-year-old James Jimenez slipped into the penthouse suite and stole Kirsten's bag, a $13, 000 Balenciaga purse, and an iPod and camera belonging to her How to Lose Friends and Alienate People co-star Simon Pegg.

"It dawns on you slowly because, obviously, you don't want to think that happened," said British actor Simon Pegg.

Mr. Jimenez faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of burglary. An accomplice, Jarrod Beinerman, is currently serving four years after pleading guilty. Both men were spotted in the suite by a production assistant, and captured by hotel surveillance cameras.

Something tells me Mr. Jimenez will join his friend in the slammer pretty soon!

Marc Jacobs Bags on eBay

Famed fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz is stepping out from behind the lens for a new project. After years of capturing images for photo shoots and a recently publicized financial woes involving a Supreme Court lawsuit, Leibovitz is trying her hand at a different kind of fashion career: designing handbags.

The photographer, whose work with Vanity Fair and labels like Dior and Louis Vuitton is well-known, has joined British artist Damien Hirst, Marc Jacobs, and others for a special design project to create limited edition Louis Vuitton bags. Their designs will be auctioned off at Sotheby's in London on November 17. It's not for fame or fortune, however, since the auction will benefit the Red Cross in celebration of their 150th anniversary.

Leibovitz's design is a large monogrammed backpack trimmed in black leather with a matching shoulder bag. A photography equipment-holding backpack isn't exactly Louis Vuitton's typical product, but something tells me that no one is questioning the photographer-turned-designer's talent.
