Is this is wallet, a coin purse or a clutch? Perhaps it is a little makeup bag, or simply a storage pouch? This square little purse is quite a mystery, and it is confusing me!

Regarding looks, it is actually quite a nice break from the norm to see something this undecorated. The bright blue or silver color stands out for itself and doesn't need to be adorned. A little bit of function is added by the simple tied zip pull, but other than that there are no fancy features or special additions.

So, what we are left with is a small, elegant square pouch, with no interior or exterior pockets and no buttons, nor bells and whistles. In essence, this is a totally, utterly versatile square of leather, great for holding your phone, or your jewelery, or even accompanying you on a night out.

As for what it is? I think you might have to decide that yourself!

October 1 marks the commencement of this year's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and tons of people are already showing their support. The Eternity line from Alexis Hudson might not be new for the brand this season, but I think it's still worth mentioning because of its versatile look and clever mechanics.

With its snakeskin texture and unusual color palette this Eternity Combo clutch is both interesting to look at but not too over the top for regular use. Although it's somewhat of a standout handbag, because of snakeskin's ever-increasing presence in fashion accessories, you won't be limited much in what you can pair this clutch with.

The Eternity clutch also comes in an even more versatile solid version, but the Combo makes more of a statement. Called a combo because of its mix of colored snakeskin material, this clutch simply refuses to be ordinary but looks fantastic doing so. The double layer of leather strips run down the middle of the front and back of the handbag and on the front round detail on the closure complementing the main color of the purse.

The Eternity boasts more than visual appeal, however. This clutch has a few surprises that you wouldn't expect from just glancing at it. The front flap opens to reveal a leather-trimmed mirror, perfect for makeup touch-ups and quick checks. To begin with, the brilliant era of life-changing politics and dramatic prohibition that produced flapper girls - the fabulous 1920s.

The 1920's, especially from 1925 onwards, were known as the "roaring 20s", and as such is characterized by the Charleston, evenings spent dancing despite the alcohol prohibition, and women rebelling against repression. There probably were day bags, but the real prized possessions to accompany complex flapper dresses and elegant feather boas were the delicate beaded art deco evening bags.

Marchesa is best known for its red carpet evening wear and Hollywood connections, and as the brand makes its first foray into accessories it seems designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are staying on point.

The twist? They're adamant all bags fit everything you need for a night out: Blackberry, keys, and makeup.

"We were frustrated because we couldn’t find [an evening] bag to fit it all," Craig told WWD. "These are timeless styles, and it was important that they be unique."

They also wanted the bags to possibly open up their customer base.

"Some people don't always have an occasion for a gown," said Chapman. "You could wear these with jeans and a T-shirt."

The line is made up of 28 clutches and cases with details reminiscent of evening gowns, like corsetry and pleating, which is no accident. The duo says they approached the design of the bags the same way they would a dress. Chapman describes draping box clutches with silk as she would a dress form.

The bags will be revealed at a September 16 presentation and will be available in department stores come spring.

Celestina's handmade clutches are some of the most extraordinarily crafted handbags I have ever seen. You can find them tucked into them palms of some the A-listyiest celebrities out there, like Halle Berry, and in the editorial spreads of every major fashion magazine.

This Roseanne clutch is definitely in keeping with Celestina's fabulous reputation. Each individual square is made of gorgeous and unique Tiger Pen Shell and mosiaced onto this beautifully-shaped box. The edges are accented with ebony, and the interior is lined with suede. Every tiny piece of this purse is impeccably curated, which makes it more like an art piece than a purse.

The natural variations in the Pen Shell give a lot of texture to the design, and the color range and pattern of their placement allows the organic luminosity of the materials to show through.

The small size means that it isn't the best clutch for toting out your whole cosmetic bag, but if you're carrying this baby, chances are good that you also went to the trouble of having your makeup done for you. Not that this clutch is exclusively for red carpet events. I can see it making a big splash for an uptown dinner date, as well.

This is a fantastic back-to-school bag for so many reasons. Kenneth Cole New York is a great youth brand; its bags are stylish and fun, and good quality for the affordable price. This is also a classic style that would serve a high school or college student well. Plus it has an exciting purple color and creative seaming and gathered details that take it a bit above a plain hobo, although it does also come in black and white for conservative tastes!

To some, around $200 may seem like a lot for a bag for a teenager (or a grown up!) but if a girl is coveting Coach or other brand name bags this may be a happy compromise that will probably last almost as long.

The best parts of this bag to me are the diagonal seaming and barbell-fastened gathers at the bottom of the bag. This is a great lesson in how to take a classic, traditional shape and jazz it up a bit. I also really like this purple.

The bag is small, but that can be good for school if you're also carrying books or a backpack. It will certainly hold a wallet, keys and all the makeup you need to get through the day.

The contents of your handbag are as important as the bag itself. I'm not talking about your makeup, countless receipts and your diary. Instead, I mean things like your check book holder, cute wallet, and kitsch coin purse.

The Anuschka check book case is just the sort of high class handbag content that I am talking about. The print, you see, is too bright and garish to work as a full hold-all or tote, but works brilliantly as a feature conversation point to guard your check book from damage.

Whilst the colorful peacock feathers are very elegant and pretty, I do wonder why the designers of this sophisticated check book case decided to use three different animal prints. Thankfully the abstract style make it work more than expected, but it still would have probably been better with just one!

Complete with signature and a convenient ID slot, this is a functional item that will keep your important check book nice and safe. Subtle, it is not!!

Cosmetics bags all too often look pretty much the same. Thankfully this Vera Bradley cosmetics pouch brings that little something extra to the mix.

OK, so this purse is still made from predictable clear vinyl. Nearly all cosmetics purses have this for practicality, and whilst it is useful it is a little bit too uniform to ever look good.

But the rest of this purse goes someway to making up for the obvious vinyl exterior. The floral decoration uses a bright, fresh and modern pattern, which encircles the bag all around the zip. It also dominates a wide feature section, so you can really appreciate the bright color. It is a bit curlicue-esque, but if that is your thing it is lovely!

The zipper pull is a nice addition, adding a pretty touch to a basic security feature. That said, however I must mention just how simple this vinyl bag is. If you like your makeup bags organized and planned out, then this single pocket makeup purse won't suit.
