Baggu Introduces New Affordable and Eco-Friendly Duck Bag to Their Collection

Baggu's line of reusable shopping totes are environmentally-friendly, durable, and as stylish as a replacement for plastic grocery bags can be. Actually, these tough, little ripstop nylon bags are popular for more than just supermarket shopping since their cute style options, including stripes, florals, and other prints, make them appropriate for everyday use as well.

Well, now the company that brought you the Baggu Tote has added a new sibling to their collection of totes. Instead of ripstop nylon, however, this one is made from 100% recycled cotton canvas.

The recently debuted Duck Bag is as equally sturdy as the original Baggu Tote but with a different shape and convenient features. The short double handles don't seem very practical, but the longer adjustable shoulder strap is great for wearing across the body while running errands or toting around books, paperwork, or even a laptop.

The Duck Bag retails for an extremely affordable $18 and is currently available in eight colors, though I'm guessing the options will expand as the tote gains popularity. Get your own (plus maybe a few extra for Christmas gifts) on Baggu's website.

Mulberry Teams with Apple Computer for Collection of Laptop Bags

I don't usually attribute the term "practical" to luxury label Mulberry. However, that's exactly where the brand seems to be heading with its most recent project.

The company, which has churned out It bags like the Mabel and the Bayswater, is changing its strategy a bit by creating a collection of laptop bags. It's a new collaboration between Mulberry and Apple Computer aimed at combining luxury and convenience for both men and women.

Mulberry's Creative Director Emma Hill commented on the partnership:

"Apple products are too beautiful to reside in drab bags! Apple and Mulberry share a legacy of craftsmanship and I'm thrilled that we were asked to be Apple's first luxury collaboration."

The nine-piece collection, which includes bags, laptops sleeves, mini iPhone cross-body bags, will hit Mulberry stores and Apple's European website on November 1. You can purchase them from Mulberry's website beginning December 1. They sound like a great gift idea for the fashion-loving techie in your life.

Juicy Couture Etiquette Small Leather Tote | Chic And Affordable Black Leather Satchel

48707 in dlI'm not really a fan of Juicy Couture. I just get tired of its overly-embellished aesthetic. But this bag is pretty dope, and basically a steal.

I'm actually really surprised by how pared down and minimal this bag is. It's not really what I've come to expect from Juicy. The only sparkly dangly thing about it is the charm, and I bet you could pry it off if you hate it.

Otherwise, the bag is made of supple leather, with asymmetrical seam detail that makes it a little more interesting. The gold hardware is subtle and chic.

And, moreover, the Etiquette is basically the perfect size. Big enough for a paperback book (you know, or a Kindle), but too small for a laptop. And the price, at $300, is amazing. I'd totally snap this one up if I was in the market for a new everyday bag

This Mexican Blanket bag brings together all the shades of Santa Fe. Makeout City is fun and flirty, with its red backdrop and white pouting lips. Totally Tubular is right on trend with its colorful 80s design.

No matter which Uh-O you choose, you'll be impressed with its practicality. That starts at the price, which is just under than magic $100 mark. The fabric finish might not be luxurious, but it's heavy and hard wearing for everyday use. Two pockets up front and another two on the sides give you plenty of places for storing the essentials you need on hand. Each closes with Velcro, a fastener which balances your need for security and easy access.

Land’s End Launches New Line of Eco-Friendly Bags Made from Recycled Plastic Bottles

I wouldn't exactly call catalog company Land's End a brand on the cutting edge of fashion, but they are making some advances in eco-friendly production.

The retailer is adding a new line of "green" bags to its collection of apparel and accessories. The new products include backpacks, messenger bags, totes, and travel bags in a practical ripstop polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. The intricate process of creating the fabric results in a marriage of environmentally-conscious and durable.

Shannon Lelouch, director of product development for the company, summed it up another way:

"At Lands' End, we always look for ways to develop new and innovative products that our customers will value and appreciate. The new Eco-friendly collection offers a perfect combination of green innovation, performance and functionality. It's a great green choice for any age."

The line of recycled bottle bags ranges from $24.50 for a simple tote to $129.50 for the carry-on travel bag with a padded laptop pocket. They hits Land's End website and catalogs just in time for students heading back to school.

Texan Artists Create Unique Hand-Painted Leather Purses

Many bagistas believe their favorite handbags are works of arts, but when it comes to Artist Handbags the description is pretty apt!

The hand-painted purses are the brainchild of Texan artists Joyce and Barbie J. "BJ" Moore. They'd been painters for years, but recently decided to apply their skills to fashion.

"This required quite a learning curve," explained BJ. "We spent a great deal of time testing out special paints that wouldn't crack on flexible, textured surfaces, picked up stacks of handbags to work with. After a great deal of research we've developed a blend of materials that allow us to create painted handbags that meet our artistic standards and have the durability to survive the rigors a purse normally endures on a daily basis."

Their artsy acessories feature zebras, fish, hula girls, abstract designs, and much more. The designs are painted with leather-specific paints and finished with a protective coating to last the distance. Joyce and BJ paint their designs on Columbian leather purses, which are large enough to carry a laptop computer and plenty of other essentials.

“Our hand-painted purses are fun, intended to make you smile," said Joyce. "Whichever one you choose, you'll end up with a conversation-starter purse that lets you take your art wherever you go, smiling all the way."

The girls have just launched their new website, ArtistHandbags.com. While online ordering isn't available yet, interested fashion fans can contact the artists through the site for more information and ordering details.
