Alexis Hudson plays it straight with the Bohem hobo. This is a return to the roots of the style, with its characteristic slouch and easy breezy spirit.

This is every inch the classic hobo, which is just what I like about it. Contemporary hobos have turned the design on its head, so this return to form is refreshing. The minimalist approach and simple color palette here makes it perfect for pairing with a colorful printed maxi-dress.

While it's simple, the Bohem certainly isn't boring. The soft shoulder strap has a wonderful distressed look, and there's subtle braiding down the centre and across the base. The side tassel strikes just the right bohemian note, but I could do without all the metal charms. I hope these are easy to remove, because they really clutter this clean design.

The Bohem's lovely looks are backed up by its spacious design. The generous lined interior features a zippered pocket, a slip pouch for gadgets, and a convenient key chain. Anyone who's ever struggled with a broken zipper will be thrilled with the double zip opening.

While I love the warmth of this chestnut brown bag, but the Bohem is also available in basic black.

Its name might suggest a bright red and white purse ready for the holidays, but the Laurel and Sunset Candy Stripe Tote is a much more vampish bag.

Instead of the traditional red and white candy combo you might expect, this tote features wide burgundy and black stripes. It might not be very festive, but the pairing is perfect for this wintery weather.

As with most bags at this price point, this tote isn't made from real leather. But the synthetic does a good impression thanks to its distressed treatment. It may not last as long as the more luxurious fabric, but in the short-term I can't fault the look.

At just $39.95, this tote delivers all that you'd expect. It's massive, so you'll always have enough space for everything you want to carry. There's a zippered pocket, a cell phone pouch, and an open slip inside to keep things organized. I'd probably appreciate more than this standard configuration to help my essentials stay in order, but in a bag of this price I certainly don't expect it.

This Laurel and Sunset tote is a good looking tote which will serve you well while it lasts. However at this price, don't be surprised if it falls apart within a year or two.

Marc by Marc Jacobs has a way of bringing style-setting trends into relative affordability. Sometimes, though, he simply brings his past successes back into the forefront, by reinvigorating them for new seasons. This clutch, for example, looks a whole lot like the iconic Dr. Q Magazine Clutch that fashionistas across the globe went crazy for just a few seasons ago.

Instead of the smooth leather of the Dr. Q, this Magazine clutch features the stamped Marc by Marc Jacobs imprint. To be truthful, I'm not sure whether this is an improvement. I like the texture of the bag, but I'm not really big on obvious logos. The color of the leather, however, makes up for it. The rich burnt orange is fabulous for fall.

The 15" x 10" size is great for day or night, and in this color, it will go with just about everything. The foldover style is modern and sleek but the details give it a distressed, almost bohemian edge. The goldtone logo plate is secured with a dark brown placket, and the combination brings interest to the center of the bag.

This Magazine clutch is sure to find as many followers as the last, and for good reason.

I must be in the mood for weathered leather handbags. The Betsey Johnson Made In The Fade satchel recently caught my eye, and now this leather-like Steve Madden Rock Wash bag has me even more interested.

The Rock Wash's finish might not be quite as laid-back, rocker-esque as some handbags out there, but it offers a decent imitation of the look. I would prefer if the material were real leather, but it doesn't exactly come as a surprise considering the satchel's hefty size combined with an under-$100 price tag.

Every area on the synthetic leather that looks distressed has been rubbed with a bronze color giving it just a hint of sheen. Don't mistake it for a truly metallic purse as this one merely hints at the shiny finish. The Rock Wash bears more resemblance to a weathered and well-worn pair of jeans with a bronzey tint.

The silhouette of this Steve Madden satchel is somewhat structured, but the gathered pocket on the front creates an illusion of slouchiness. Although the double rolled handles seem to offer plenty of length for carrying the Rock Wash bag comfortably, you also have the option of attaching a longer, adjustable strap for a more a little more convenience.

Established in 2001, Joie is a relative newcomer to the fashion scene. The label's made waves with its ready-to-wear feminine fashions inspired by the Southern Californian lifestyle, and it's branching out. Joie has recently expanded its collections to include handbags and shoes.

G by Guess, the cheaper sister brand of handbag guru, Guess, has produced a great summer showstopper just in time for the blockbuster season.

This little clutch glistens in silver snakeskin python fabric, and is also available in a more subtle and situation friendly black. The silver, however, really shows of the vintage inspired rough and distressed fabric - high in style, but thankfully still affordable.

The envelope style clutch is very on trend. Every red carpet at this summer's big hits has been full of these practical yet style-hungry designs, and so far, everyone loves them! So if you are traipsing to the cinema to see Transformers 2, or the latest rom-com, this is the date bag to set you on your way.

I do wish that this feminine purse had an optional handle, just to add ease and practicality. Whilst the wrist handle is lovely, two alternatives are always good! What it lacks in handles, however, it makes up for in looks.

Casual is the theme of today. I'm talking spacious bags with tons of rustic charm. Soft luxurious fabrics and simple but effective designs.

I love retro style straw clutches, and this delightful earthy example fits the bill perfectly. Basket bags are hot stuff for summer, and they allow smart clutches to effortlessly transpose into elegant day-wear.

eBay is choc-a-bloc with vintage wicker bags. These range from small clutches to huge totes, designed for everything from posh parties to beach BBQs. The High Street is following in suit, and this bag is designer style at affordable prices. Not only that, but it's the best of a beautiful bunch!

I do always worry about the fragility of straw bags. Although the weave is tight on this, it probably won't last as long as leather or even canvas varieties. If you are careful with it, however, it should last a few seasons, and vintage styles like this rarely go out of fashion.

The quirky leather touches on this little retro clutch are adorable. Available in either fuchsia or yellow, the little hinges with exaggerated stitching and studs are a great feature. Even better is the over-sized metal buckle! I wish I cold justify a new handbag for my holiday!

I have always loved the combination of black and nude, especially when it's a soft blushy nude, especially when it's on a bag made of leather, and most especially when that bag is made by Chloe. When you combine it with the retro flair and everyday practicality of a shoulder bag like this one, I'm basically in love.

The contrast between the distressed black patent of the body of the bag and the smooth nude leather of the straps creates a sophisticated vibe on what would otherwise be a very rock-n-roll flavored accessory. The minimal pleating on the front pockets adds volume, and the rectangular shape with the smoothed-off edges gives the bag a retro look that is reminiscent of some of my favorite vintage 80's accessories. 

The combination of the dual straps with the removable shoulder straps gives you options for how to wear the bag. I can see it as a very feminine touch held by hand, or slung low over your shoulder for a more casual look. The 16" x 10" x 6" size makes it a great everyday bag that will hold not just the essentials, but also more than a few extras.

There isn't much I don't like about this Strappy Shoulder Bag by Chloe, including the adorable front pockets. The contrasting horizontal stripe across the bag allows them to blend in, and creates another interesting focal point on an already fabulous bag. At $665, it is a more than reasonable investment for a super-fashionable everyday bag.

For many women, Chloe is the go-to designer for the latest in "It" bags that break the mold when it comes to quality and design. You could say that about the Silverado Doctor Bag, but the truth is that it isn't just a passing "It" bag; its classic design has dominated the market for almost four years, and yet lust for the Silverado shows little sign of abating.

It is, and was, a bag ahead of its time. Its 11.5" x 17.5" x 7" size is oversized enough to fit the trend and every single thing I can think of to bring with me on a day out inside of it. The brown leather is dark, distressed, and looks like a saddle that has been well-oiled for years.

I love the combination of the classic doctor bag shape with all the western details. The whipstiching on the handle and side pockets is the bag's trademark, and the large antiqued gold hardware adds that little bit of country that makes the Silverado special.

The bag is an easy in and out affair, with a long top zipper and extended side tabs. The tab and stud detail at the base and handle attachments give the Silverado interesting visual details without taking away from the overall simple structural shape. Chloe has definitely struck a delicate balance with this one, and I can't imagine the woman that wouldn't love toting this with her favorite jeans and a tee plus, I don't know, maybe even cowboy boots?
