Claudia Schiffer's modeling career is still in full swing with advertising campaigns for Salvatore Ferragamo and Chanel, but that's not stopping her from venturing into a new branch of her fashion career.

After years of showcasing other designers' goods, Schiffer recently revealed an interest in launching her own fashion brand. She certainly wouldn't be the first supermodel to try her hand at designing, following in the successful footsteps of Kate Moss and Elle Macpherson.

The 39-year old beauty is reportedly considering including handbags and some sort of cashmere apparel in her new line and is looking for business partners to support the venture. Schiffer recently stated, however, that the most important part of the process is keeping the products meaningful to her:

"I want the brand to be timeless and classic, with a fashion sensibility ... Consumers are not stupid. They do understand if you don't believe in your product," she said.

Don't think that creating handbags and cashmere are going to keep her from posing for the camera, though. This is one supermodel who has no plans to quit her day job any time soon.

This Giuseppe Zanotti brown leather purse proves that you can have a bit of glitz and glamour in a purse without having to go over the top. Balancing the incredibly luxurious leather with a touch of crystal glamour requires some serious design expertise, as you don't want that incredibly supple leather to go unnoticed.

I personally think that when it comes to how this square clutch looks, Giuseppe Zanotti has really hit the nail on the head. The scattered crystals glimmer but don't overpower, and the brown shade is unusual enough to make it stand out in a sea of boring chestnut or black. I do wish, however, that the designers had concealed the zip a bit more; if you are paying a lot for a purse, you need those extra special touches. And this bag, at $650, definitely counts as a lot!

The lining of this clutch is a little low key, in a simple beige shade with a simple signature pattern. A dark or contrasting lining would be nice, but I presume the brand wanted to keep the looks classy, calm and sophisticated.

You just can't keep the queen down. She may have been dumped by Louis Vuitton for the much younger Lara Stone and Daisy Lowe, but Madonna's already found another modeling gig. The Material Mom will front Dolce & Gabbana's spring/summer 2010 campaign.

Acclaimed photographer Steven Klein shot the ads in New York last week, and the designers say they're thrilled with the "simply beautiful" images of Madge.

"To have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true," designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana added.

This isn't the first time the talented trio has worked together. D&G were behind the costumes Madonna used for her Girlie Show in 2003 and last year's Sticky & Sweet tour. I don't expect anything quite so outrageous for Dolce & Gabbana's next collection; the fashions have to be worn by mere mortals after all. Yet Dolce & Gabbana has a habit of surprising us, so you just never know!

London-based fashion designer Giles Deacon has been impressing the critics since his debut in 2004 with a quirky mix of luxury quality and whimsical details. This colorblock approach is more and more becoming the signature style of the L.A.M.B designers.

The Jean bowler makes great use of the patent panels, contrasting them with the metallic body and matte accents. Lookswise, this design ticks all the boxes for adding texture, pattern and interest into the design.

Whilst the bowler shape and black patent make this bag look quite formal, the metallic shade adds a new degree of glamor. This is great, as it means that you could happily wear it after work for a night out or meal, although the large size will probably be a little too much.

Inside, this satchel could have opted for a rather boring matte shade. However, as you can tell, L.A.M.B likes to produce attractive and slightly quirky purses. Consequently, the strangely fabulous interior lining is in bold stylized black and white stripes, contrasting excellently with the curved exterior. I could have used a few more pockets inside the bag, what with the space, but this bowler does have an excellent capacity.

All in all this is a bold and vivacious bag that has bags of attitude and just about enough functionality. A cross-body shoulder strap would be nice, but beggars can't be choosers.

B. Makowsky is one of those rare designers who always seems to hit the mark. While his bags are never right for the red carpet or a glamorous night out, it’s hard to resist them when you're looking for a casual everyday purse. This is a Bally bag that Bally can be proud of. As some of the most expensive and desirable purses on the market, Bally bags always ooze glamor and luxury, and this huge spacious tote is no exception.

This soft leather hold-all is designed to last forever, from the quality leather to the artistic workmanship. For $1800 you expect nothing less than perfection, and the fantastically sculpted lines suggest that the Bally designers have done their utmost to make that the case.

This tote, with its slouchy shape and space, is great for carrying your belongings through day and night. With the huge and versatile capacity, however, I am surprised that the handles are so small. Despite the shape hinting at heavy loads to be carried, I get the impression that this status symbol bag is more about looks than actually being used. Somehow, although it isn't unexpected, I feel disappointed that such a fabulous bag doesn't quite live up to its hugely posh expectations.

Whatever the little hesitations, however, this is a true Bally bag. It is sophisticated and classy, and perfect for work or play. Taking you seamlessly from day to night, I love it!

There's no excuse for running late for your appointments when you carry this Ashley M Plaid Clock Bag.

We expect quirky novelty bags from Ashley M, but this one is a little more stylish than many of the brand's creations. Red plaid reminds us of Burberry and other preppy, more luxurious labels. Although I doubt those high-end designers would cover their handbags in tacky glass stones or a large clock face!

The tartan print is reminiscent of those designer brands, but this isn't trying to be a high-end fashion item. It just wants to have fun. The battery-operated clock is surrounded by on-trend studs and glass stone accents. Glossy black patent trim completes this playful purse.

The lining is a little cheap and nasty, but that's the only thing I can fault inside. It's a great size – not too big or too small – and there are zip and slip pockets in the walls to keep your smaller items organized.

With a smattering of modern studs, Anne Klein converts this rather plain tote into a contemporary fashion statement.

Unlike many designers who seem to OD on the metal accents, Anne Klein keeps things subtle by placing the studs only at the top of the purse. She keeps us guessing with the mixture of brass and silver studs, big and small ones, textured and plain. It's a funky new take on the trend which I think really pays off.

Other than the studs, there's nothing too unexpected here. The leather is top quality, and as with most Anne Klein creations its available in a mix of conservative shades and more surprising tones. This ruby red tote is particularly fetching for fall. Anne Klein's famous lion motif appears on a metal plate near the base of the bag, proudly boasting the brand's heritage without appearing too obtrusive.

I do appreciate a bag with a large zippered center pocket. By separating the tote into three sections, organization is made easy even for the most scatterbrained stylistas amongst us. Zippered pockets in both side walls complement an open cell phone pouch and the zippered pocket we saw underneath those stylish studs.

At $188, this Anne Klein purse is an affordable quality way to indulge in the latest studded trend.
