I liked the look of the Botkier Marcel Clutch, but I'm loving the contemporary style even more on this larger satchel silhouette.

Take away the kiss-lock closure and folded sides and add in a few other details, and the Marcel satchel is basically a supersized version of the clutch. That could be a negative thing if the Marcel style didn't have so many great things going for it. However, everything I like about the clutch makes me like the satchel even more.

The unique woven metallic strips detail on the front is more prominent and eyecatching on this larger handbag. Although the satchel is also available in a shiny champagne color just like the clutch in the previous review, I'm more drawn to the look of the gold squares set off brilliantly by the black background of the main body. It's unfortunate that the stunning detail doesn't continue to the back of the purse as well.

Contemporary woven feature aside, the Marcel's structured handbag shape almost has a vintage-ish shape to it. Some might even prefer to classify it as a doctor bag rather than a satchel. The double handles are a nice length for comfortable carrying, and a fun tassel on the zipper adds some flair.

As expected, the price of the satchel runs a little higher than the clutch version. The difference is actually a few hundred dollars, but the size of this designer handbag and the unique look makes it worth the cost.

Marc Jacobs' Louis Vuitton collection inspired by late artist Stephen Sprouse might be old news to many bag fashionistas. However, it's a line of designer handbags still worth talking about, in my opinion.

The Louis Vuitton Speedy style is also nothing new to the designer label, but it's a classic style with which you really can't go wrong. Whether it's in their signature monogram print or spiced up with some extra color, like this one, the Speedy tote is always a popular choice for LV lovers.

Although I'm not always a fan of floral prints on handbags, which generally tend to turn out either tacky or pleasantly abstract, the combination of Louis Vuitton's monogram print mixed with a few Stephen Sprouse-inspired roses just might be the perfect combination for many women. No need to choose between the two styles; you get two looks in one pretty package with this one.

The Monogram Roses collection fits a very specific taste, however, and won't be everyone's cup of tea. If you like the whimsicality of it, though, you won't be at all disappointed with the rest of the bag's first-rate qualities. As you'd anticipate from a designer tote, the Speedy Roses has leather trim, comfortable rolled handles, and brass hardware. Frankly, I'd expect nothing less considering the hefty price tag.

Another offering from the Kate Spade Savona collection, the Bri Hobo ventures a bit off of Spade's usual preppy path with chic, minimalist style.

The smooth cowhide texture, pared down geometric stitching details and basic shape all work perfectly together for a bag that will accent many different styles in your wardrobe. Far from trendy, this will be a workhorse you can pull out in 10 years, as is the Kate Spade name.

This is perfectly styled to be an everyday bag, but I worry it's a bit small for that. This is especially a concern since I think this bag will reveal every lumpy item you try to contain in it. My cosmetics bag would surely protrude awkwardly, giving the dreaded handbag tumor affect.

But, it does its best to offer organization with an exterior pocket and interior zip, cell phone and additional pockets.

Zaftique has taken its Allegro and given it some casual twists to create the Metro drawstring bag.

The Metro still has the same distinct barrel shape and practical long handles, but it's the details which make this more grab and go than uptown chic. The first is the fabric. Where the Allegro has snakeskin-looking trim and a sexy patent sheen, the Metro has a woven cloth fabric accented with regular leather. It might seem like a step down, and on a purely superficial level it is. But unlike most Zaftique purses, the leather trim is genuine cowhide.

Another casual touch is the Metro’s drawstring top. This feature accentuates the purse's natural slouch, while offering added security. But with that security comes frustration. I like to know that my precious cargo won't go anywhere, but does it really take a top zipper, a magnetic closure, and a drawstring to achieve this? If I was to wrestle with every closure whenever my cell phone rang, I'd surely go mad.

The Metro's casual charm is finished with contrast topstitching. The white cotton really pops against the coffee brown and black bags, giving them a more country feel than their urban name suggests.

At $59 retail, the Metro is hardly expensive. Yet it's the priciest of all Zaftique purses. I suppose the genuine leather justifies the cost, but it hardly looks like a top-of-the range handbag. I'd opt for the chicer Allegro or even the Jaunty and enjoy the spare change!

So often I see designer bags which appear overworked and ostentatious. That kind of garish design is never flattering, but at least these purses display a little personality. And that's the sort of pizazz I find sorely lacking with the Little Softee from Accessorize.

The faux leather is soft enough, but it certainly doesn't have the buttery texture of genuine cowhide, or the tactile appeal of suede. It's also not the kind of fabric which can stand alone as it's required to here. With a basic shape and only a little stitching for style, the Little Softee looks a little bland.

I do love the shoulder strap though, with its wide center and knotted details at the ends. If only such a modern look had been employed in the rest of the bag I may have been a little more inspired.

But the lack of bells and whistles does make the Little Softee a versatile choice. It's not likely to turn heads, but it will prove a functional accessory for years to come.

For a true summery nautical style, Kate Spade's preppy chic looks are a great place to start. Though the designer has a wide variety of classic bags, coastal casual is probably one of her most well-known trends with details like tassels, grommets, and stripes.

The Easton Kenny personifies that popular seaside style so well. Though there aren't any stripes on the bag, the Easton Kenny would perfectly accessorize an outfit that has them. Kate Spade must have had yachting and seaside cottages on the mind when designing it since it's named after a Maryland town on shore of the Chesapeake Bay. It doesn't get more coastal than that.

I like the fact that the handbag isn't a literal translation of the style. Instead it just has some subtle features that merely imbue it with that vibe. The square grommet handle anchors are gold-plated and engraved with the Kate Spade logo. A drawstring closure lends a casual air, but the shape is very structured and contained giving it a refined look.

The cowhide material is lightly embossed, resulting in a pebbled texture. The Easton Kenny comes in the light brown color shown here as well as solid black and a truly nautical-looking beige and navy blue combo.

The two styles balance each other by allowing the detailing of each to shine through. A simple tote like this one is the perfect complement to a wardrobe of avant garde pieces, but would also be at home in a more conservative closet.

The supple Spanish leather is pressed with a graphic star pattern, creating a look that is both classic and modern. The stitch detail on the thick, comfortable handles mimics the geometric appeal of the stars on the tote.

The Star Embossed Tote is the epitome of understated utility. The large 14" x 16" x 2.5" size makes it the perfect take along tote for a light day of shopping, or to use as a bookbag or briefcase. Of course, at $437 retail, this isn't going to be an affordable everyday choice for everyone, but it is a beautiful, simple piece that will take you through years of use and trends.

The interior contains an open pocket for keeping your little items from falling to the bottom of the tote, but honestly, on a bag of this price, I would like to see a little more organizational ingenuity. A zipper pocket, for example, and multiple patch pockets for keys and cell phone might be in order.

Still, the sleek minimalism of the tote is seductive, and would work with many wardrobes. I might even go so far as to call the tote unisex, but I think it would take the right kind of man to rock the star pattern with confidence.
