I've seen so many woven handbags from Bottega Veneta that they're almost starting to get boring. So I was excited to see this very different looking purse from the Italian fashion house.

It's not just a new look for Bottega Veneta. The Cushion Bag looks like no bag I've ever seen more, and when you see as many handbags as I do that's really saying something. There are many different Cushion Bag styles in Bottega Veneta's catalog, but the one that's really won my heart is the Mosaico Cervo. The name comes from the embroidered leather finish which looks like tiny mosaic tiles. The tiles sit close together on the sides of the bag, before becoming scattered haphazardly along the top. The texture makes it hard to look away, so don't be surprised if you turn a few heads carrying this baby.

The bag opens with two zips positioned between the rolled shoulder straps. I wish the zipper didn't extend quite so far, as it interrupts the purse's sexy curves, but it does mean you can open the cushion bag wide. A leather trimmed zipper pocket and an open pouch help keep your girly goods in order.

Bottega Veneta purses never come cheap, and this stunning cushion bag is no exception. At $4,380, this is one expensive piece of arm candy, but that shouldn't come as any surprise to those who worship at the Bottega Veneta alter.

There's just nothing subtle about a Baby Phat bag. The label divides opinion more than most with its busy and brash designs. From any other brand I'd gasp in horror at the Royal Status 4 Ring Satchel, but it's just what I'd expect from Baby Phat.

The brown synthetic leather was probably conservative once. That is, until Baby Phat covered it in its ornate crown logo. Those crowns have got nothing on the bag’s centerpiece: a large metal crown adorned with studs. There are more studs along the base of the bag, and along the belts around the angular pockets. Sloping pockets tend to look edgy, but these belts create a vaguely equestrian feel. I suppose royalty ride horses, but the embellishment still feels a little out of place. The bold colored racing stripes streaking down the center of the purse are similarly confusing. They add color, but there was so much going on already that more design features was the last thing this satchel needed.

It's a shame that Baby Phat didn't care so much about adding features inside. The interior is spacious enough to comfortably carry a chunky wallet, must-have technology, and other daily essentials. But there are not enough pockets to help us truly stay organized. There's a zippered pocket for loose change, and an open pouch for a cell phone, but where will your iPod or Nintendo DS go? The handles are also a shade too short for comfortable over-the-shoulder carrying.

While I might obsess about its practical shortcomings, that's not likely to deter Baby Phat's legions of fans. If you've got to the confidence to carry off this cluttered look, more power to you!

Joy Gryson has two new babies: her six-year-old daughter Olivia Harris and the budget handbag line which shares her firstborn's name.

Little Olivia seems like the perfect namesake for the brand given her own keen fashion sense.

"She's really, really funny. Whenever we see someone walking in the street with one of the bags, she gets too excited," explained the New York designer. "She loves the little charm and the tag."

Showing you're never too young to carry a designer purse, Olivia enjoys carrying a one-of-a-kind creation made lovingly by her mother. Her pink leopard cross-body hobo covered in hammered rivets doesn't sound like the most tasteful creation around, but that just makes it perfect for a mini fashionista. While Olivia would love to take it to her first-grade class, her mother insists it's for weekend use only.

While fashion fans can't get Olivia's beloved bag, others like it are available in the Olivia Harris collection.

"We're all about downtown," explained Joy Gryson. "If the Gryson girl is TriBeCa, the Olivia Harris girl is her younger, cooler, rock ’n’ roll baby sister from Brooklyn or the LES."

The Olivia Harris handbags start from $155, and range up to $495. You can find them at Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue.

If people don't guess you're carrying an XOXO handbag by the bright design, all those logos will definitely give away the game! Some feel all that obvious branding is a little obnoxious, but I'm sure die-hard fans will disagree. XOXO has never been a label to hide its heritage after all!

The price is an affordable $54 thanks to the practical canvas finish and synthetic leather trim. The canvas may not be as luxurious as leather, but it's strong enough to last a few seasons. The synthetic may be another matter though. I wouldn't be surprised to see telltale cracks show before too long.

The generous size makes this tote ideal for carrying books to class or swimwear to the beach in warmer weather. There are several pockets inside, complementing the roomy fabric lined space. With places for your spare change, cell phone, and PDA it's easy to keep this sizable space organized.

The combination of rainbow colors and white trim gives the Waterside tote an upbeat summery vibe, but if you're game you could definitely use it to brighten up a gloomy winter's day!

It might be basic black, but this Steve Madden Animal Instincts satchel will help you get in touch with your wild side.

I've been on the fence with haircalf bags before, but by keeping the color conservative I think Steve Madden may have won me over. The surface looks soft and velvety rather than creepy and furry. I wish it was teamed with genuine leather rather than synthetic, but I suppose it keeps the price down. At nearly $230, this satchel is a lot more expensive than most Steve Madden purses already. Genuine leather may have won over bag snobs, but it probably would have alienated Steve Madden's budget-conscious fans.

While it might not withstand as much punishment, the synthetic doesn't diminish the Animal Instincts sexy good looks. The gleaming gold hardware provides a rich contrast to the brooding dark fabrics.

The animal appeal continues inside with the flamboyant leopard print lining. The zippered pocket and technology-loving slips help keep this sizable interior space in order.

The biggest flaw for me is the short straps. Sure, they're exceedingly cute, but they're just not practical for a bag of this size. I can't imagine how awkward I'd feel lugging this satchel around once it was loaded up with all my essentials! It's perfect for making a statement at dinner, but if you've got errands to run you'd best leave this baby at home.

All these thoughts have crossed my mind at some point or other, and I think  I might have found the solution with this undeniably sophisticated Stuart Weitzman Report clutch.

First we have the small leopard print. No gaudy tacky over-sized animal print on this patent baby. Instead, this gentle print will go with many more outfits and won't make people's eyes go funny. Secondly the triangular folded face is just sexy.

Of course, the strong exterior does mean that you can't squeeze that much in the bag, even though it is stretched out! Thankfully it does come with a convenient handle, however,  and for once it isn't a chain! Lovely!

The Be & D Guinevere is a purse which embraces the flirty side of femininity.

When so many feminine purses are pink and prissy, it's refreshing to find a clutch which is so much sexier. Choose from smooth purple patent or this polished black crinkled leather. Both are eye-catching options, but the crackled texture gives this one the edge for me.

While the leather is lovely, the real drawcard is the oversized bow. The stiff patent gives the accent structure, making it look edgier than bows tend to. The look reminds me a little of Christian Louboutin’s bow clutch, although this baby costs a little less. Not that $695 is cheap by any stretch of the imagination!

The suede lining adds an opulence air to the fairly basic interior. It's small but secure thanks to the zip closure. There are no shoulder straps tucked away inside, so if the Guinevere has caught your eye I hope you like clutching your purse the old fashioned way!

The Guinevere is a great purse for girls who want to show their feminine side without resorting to frills. It's more than I'd like to pay for an after-five accessory, but if you've got a busy social life the investment might be worthwhile.

Baby Phat is never a brand that does things by halves. Accessories like this Mystical Mirror bag may be a little ostentatious for many bagistas, but fans of Kimora Lee Simmons' blingtastic label are sure to lap it up.

I'm not sure whether you could use this silvery satchel to touch up your cosmetics, but it's the metallic finish which gives the Mystical Mirror its name. Silver synthetic doesn't need any more accents, but of course Kimora Lee includes them anyway. The signature kitty cat logo is surrounded by a plethora of rhinestones. Add a smattering of tiny silver studs and tasseled zipper pulls and you've got one very busy look.

It's a shame, because the interior delivers everything I'd want in an everyday satchel. Sure, I'd probably need sunglasses to look at the hot pink lining, but it's also kind of fun. But I'm more interested in all that space and the zip and slip pockets for keeping precious cargo organized.

This is the kind of handbag you'll either love or hate. It's not my cup of chai, but I'm sure plenty of purse lovers will adore its big, brash, style.
