Yves Saint Laurent's latest "It" bag, the Roady, shot to fame on the arms of glamorous celebs like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, and Leighton Meester. Now the in-demand purse will get a personalized makeover for shoppers in America's fashion capitals, Los Angeles and New York City.

The Roady already comes in a variety of shapes and colors, including black nappa and vibrant red and blue leathers. But Yves Saint Laurent artesan furriers will further customize the bags this month. Roady lovers can jazz up the handles with colored exotic skins, including ostrich, crocodile, and lizard. The lizard is the bargain option at $225, the ostrich will cost $385, and the crocodile clocks in at $515. To further add value, Yves Saint Laurent staff will also embroider your initials inside your Roady for nix.

The customized Roady bags are available in YSL's Los Angeles and New York boutiques from November 19 to December 1.

The design of the Treesje Kingsley hobo shares quite a few similarities with the trendy features of the Botkier Uma satchel with its slouchy ruched body and zippered detail. Actually, the two designer brands really aren't that far apart in their overall styles.

The main difference between the Uma and this Treesje handbag is the size. The Mini Kingsley hobo is shorter and somewhat smaller in width. However, for being categorized as a "mini" bag, I'm impressed by the space that it offers.

I'm guessing that it's only called mini because Treesje also has a slightly larger version of the style, which is several inches wider and just a bit taller. Frankly, there's not a whole lot of difference except that the regular Kingsley is about $70 more. If you're buying with style in mind over size, the Mini hobo is definitely the better pick.

The long double handles are convenient and comfortable for carrying the purse. Bright gold-toned hardware complements the glazed Italian leather beautifully. The Mini Kingsley is available in this pretty deep blue, which fits right in with recent fashion week trends, and cherry red. This Treesje hobo retails for $555.

Move over YSL Roady Tote, you've got some competition for the newest gotta-have-it handbag for Hollywood celebrities. Tod's G-Bag is making its way around town and popping up on quite a few famous shoulders.

Although the G-Bag is not a brand-new design for the label, its popularity seems to have increased exponentially in recent months. Gwyneth Paltrow, a loyal fan of the brand, was first seen with the bag in Tod's spring/summer 2009 ad campaign, and it has only gained momentum from there.

It makes sense then for Tod's to keep bringing it back with a few tweaks here and an additional color option there. Although some of the celebrities' versions of the tote differ a bit from one another, they are all equally enviable and chic.

Julia Roberts and Halle Barry have been rocking their classic khaki G-Bag for some time, while Jessica Alba spiced up the look a bit with a fun snakeskin material. This Tod's tote might not be a financial stretch for well-paid celebrities, but $1,665 is quite  a chunk of change for the rest of us. I guess we'll have to stick with more affordable roomy totes like the B. Makowsky Nassau.

Despite some predictions and various reports that the "It" bag is passé due to a harsh economy, Hollywood celebrities continue to defy the presumption by favoring designer styles. While the death of the "It" bag craze might be true for the average household, somehow I don't see it going anywhere for celebs who make well over the average paycheck and tend to pick up freebies from designers.

According to InStyle, we've got the makings of a new favorite from Yves Saint Laurent's fall collection of handbags. The casual, buttery-soft leather Roady tote is a perfectly slouchy oversized hobo with simple details and plenty of style. So far, the YSL bag has been seen about town on the arms of Katy Perry and Mary-Kate Olsen, though I highly doubt this will be an exhaustive list by the end of the season.

Though I can't really say I'm over-the-moon with excitement about the new style, there's a lovely simplicity and everyday charm to the design that appeals to my practical side. On the other hand, the steep $1795 price tag that accompanies the Roady tote is enough to abate any sensible allure of this handbag.

You may or may not have heard of Asia's leading luxury retail store Lane Crawford. This giant specialty store offers an enormous amount of clothing, accessories, and much more from its locations in Hong Kong and Beijing.

Now the chic designer retail giant is teaming up with one of fashion's biggest names. Yves Saint Laurent's creative director, Stefano Pilati, has designed an exclusive collection just for Lane Crawford.

The line is limited and will include apparel and more for men and women. Included in the collection is this logo-printed handbag. YSL for Lane Crawford goes on sale August 1 and will range from around $250 to nearly $2,200.

Anja Rubik struck a dramatic pose for Gucci's pre-fall ads featuring the Jackie handbag collection, and a few images of the label's official fall 09 campaign shows a continuation of the same vibe.

Though we've already seen a quick preview of Gucci's fall handbags, now we get to see at least one of those impressive handbags on the arm of Raquel Zimmerman. The model shows off the new Galaxy shoulder bag smack-dab in the middle of this particular ad. Now that's how I like to see a bag in a campaign.

The ads were styled by Vogue Paris fashion director Emmanuelle Alt, whose resume also includes fashion editor for Gucci's spring/summer 09 campaign. This time around, however, Alt opted for a simple, black-and-white setting with lots of faces and plenty of fall fashion. It almost reminds me of Christy Turlington's stark set for YSL's fall ads.

The other models in the ad are Myf Shepherd, Gerhard Freidl, and Gucci veteran Anja Rubik.

It seems to me that Christy Turlington is one of the hardest working models in the fashion world right now. Just as her Bally fall 09 commercial is revealed, we're already seeing her face again in ads for another label.

While Turlington might be the perfect Bally woman, she's also glamming it up for Yves Saint Laurent. Following previous rumors alluding to the collaboration, the 40-year old supermodel stars in YSL's fall/winter advertising campaign for 2009-2010.

One of the things I love about the ads, besides the gorgeous bags and clothes the model showcases, is the sleek style of the set. Forget European landmarks or natural settings, this Stefano Pilati designed campaign features only the label's items, Christy, and a black logo frame against a white background. The result is striking and dramatic.

Bravo to the major labels who are featuring these experienced, mature (if not impossibly ageless) models from the past. Turlington looks as fabulous as ever here for Yves Saint Laurent and will surely continue to do so for many more years.

This handbag line, which has been available to us for several seasons already, was preceded by the ever-so-popular Muse collection. Both lines have many celebrity followings, but I think that the Muse Two deserves as much of the spotlight as its predecessor.

In my opinion, an Yves Saint Laurent handbag purchase is like buying into a little piece of history. It will be famous and remembered for its era but never out of vogue. Though I happen to adore many of the label's purses like the Tribute and Y Satchel, the Muse Two is definitely one of my favorites for its easy classic yet completely sophisticated style.

The soft pebbled leather on this version of the Muse Two is absolutely elegant in natural tan. A satchel like this knows no season, which is excellent when you're going to shell out well over $1,000 to get it. If you're going to buy a designer handbag, it's nice to think that you'll get a good amount of use out of it throughout the year.

The Muse Two comes in more than one size and material. This particular one is a medium version, which is a very decent, average size for a satchel. The front flap closes with a push button with two straps that button below it. This chic Yves Saint Laurent tote is finished off with pretty gold hardware.

If you thought environmentally-friendly fashion meant organic totes and recycled candy wrapper bags, Yves Saint Laurent is here to prove you wrong. The label has taken the idea of using recycled materials and gone in a new direction for couture.

Under the design direction of Stefano Pilati, YSL has released a new collection called "New Vintage" that constructed entirely from leftover cotton drill from past inventories. It's a clever and creative idea for sustainability and something I didn't really expect from the brand.

Within the classic collection, first unveiled at retail store Barneys, you'll find simple dresses and trench coats as well as sandals and a redesigned version of the Downtown tote. The colors palette is pleasantly simple with earth tones and light pinks and blues.

Pilati explained, "'New Vintage' is my way to reflect our social and economic state by capitalizing on existing resources to translate sustainable 'values' into 'forms.'"  

Though the fabric is recycled leftovers, don't expect the price to reflect that. The collection ranges in price from $495 to $4,100.
