While certainly not cheap at $299 (currently on sale!), this MICHAEL Michael Kors tote looks rich enough to be from the designer's higher end line or even out of a more prestigious handbag collection. The Gansevoort Tote comes in a beautiful blush leather which would make a lovely neutral alternative to the browns and beiges of summer. But, should you prefer a traditional neutral, it's available in black or brown as well.

Buckle top handles are accented by a buckle logo plate across the top of the bag and criss-crossing buckle straps on the sides. The casual silhouette can be bunched a bit like ruching by tightening the straps.

This is also a great bag for organization. Two side pockets make grabbing your subway card or a snack easy, and inside the bag you'll find a zip pocket, three open pockets, a cell phone pocket and a key fob.

I've always felt a little resentful about Moschino's Cheap & Chic moniker. I mean, it's usually chic, but rarely cheap. It might be less expensive than their usual fare, but it's still a high end designer line with high end designer prices. But, despite my resistance to their somewhat ironic title, I really like the cool twists that the line puts on traditional Italian tailoring.

This Borsa Tracolla Shoulder Bag is a fabulous addition to the collection. It has basically everything I want in a handbag: black leather, zippers, and bows. Now that might sound easy to come by, but it's not. The combination of bows and black leather is rare and fabulous.

I also really adore the shape of this bag. It's a hobo, but one that is structured enough that it can stand up on its own. The super thick leather handle will be comfortable no matter how much you stuff into this bag. And at 20" x 10" x 5", that could be quite a lot. And the floppy black bows add a touch of femininity to a super edgy bag.

The exterior zippers aren't just for show, either. They open onto zipper pockets perfect for stowing little things that you need to get to quickly, like your keys and subway card. The full zip top closure along the top will keep your valuable safely tucked away.

What can I say? I just love this bag. I only wish I could afford it. But at $1,047, it just isn't what I consider cheap.

There's something about 80's retro-style nostalgia that I can really get into. Maybe it's how decadent and over-the-top the best of the 80's styles were, but I also think it's that decade really redefined casual night-out dressing. It really wasn't until then that you could wear jeans and heels to a nightclub, and who wants to remember a time before that?

Anya Hindmarch is not a designer I usually associate with retro styles, but this time she hit the nail on the head. This big blue patent clutch has "wear me with neon pumps" written all over it. Of course, it would also be fabulous as a pop of color to some more neutral tones.

The color of the Louisa clutch won me over immediately. This is the definition of electric blue. The shape of the bag is so simple, sleek, and voluptuous that it just begs to be held. And the giant blue gemstone on the front ups the glam factor a ton.

At 12" x 5" x 2", the Louisa is large, but not oversized. There's plenty of room for your essentials, and there's even an adorable separate press-stud purse on the inside for those crucial items like your ID and subway card.

I have been trying to find some fatal flaw in this bag, but honestly, I just don't see anything. The price, at $395, is high, but still reasonable for a well-constructed designer item.

Chloe routinely provides the public with covetable luxury goods, and the Nancy leather bag is sure to work its way on to a lot of women's wish lists.

The bucket shape, which I am seeing a lot of this Spring season, looks bohemian in both a 70's sense and also in a modern boho sort of a way. The choice of slightly textured navy leather adds to this modern classic vibe. Despite its bohemian appeal, there is something classic about this bag that would make it work equally at the office or on weekends. The front layered leather detail is interesting and adds volume. The best part of the bag, and its defining feature, I think, is the small outer side pouch. What could be more convenient for stowing your keys and subway pass? 

The handle is one part of the bag that I have any misgivings about. I truly love the look of it, but it is definitely made to carry by hand, and I do wonder if a woman who packs this baby to the brim might get tired of all that hand holding. Also, I wish that the interior of the bag had some organizational design, as this shape lends itself to having a lot of things lost at the bottom.

Foley + Corinna, while still relatively new on the designer circuit (circa 1999), are already renowned for creating high-fashion, high-quality designs at reasonable prices. The affordability of the line, however, has not tarnished their good name in the eyes of connoisseurs of fine handbags.

The Jet Setter, for example, has been featured on the arms of Gossip Girls more than once. Preppy Blair Waldorf uses her red and cream version as a schoolbag, and when fabulous MisShape Lydia Hearst made her cameo on the Gossip Girl season one finale, she did it with her F+C Jet Setter in hand.

It's no wonder that Manhattan socialites can't keep their paws off this bag. The glazed leather is a fantastic cross between the usual leather and patent leather, with a subtle sheen and smoothness. The front leather strap and buckle detail breaks up the size of the bag, and adds an edgy, urban appeal. The boxy bottom and structured strap balance out the bag's general slouchiness, and add sturdiness to the design.

The only drawbacks of the Jet Setter are paradoxically also selling points. The extreme slouch between top and bottom means that the bag will not be able to stand up on its own, lovely to look at, but unfortunate when there is no place to hang a large handbag. And, the close-to-the body armhole that makes the Jet Setter comfortable to carry also makes it hard to get into without taking it off your shoulder. These could be deal-breakers for more expensive or less versatile handbags, but at under $500 retail, the high-class Jet Setter is relatively easy to get invested in.

The tote features three exterior pockets, which keep your keys, PDA, and passport accessible, organized and compartmentalized. The 8" strap drop and thick leather handle make the bag comfy to carry over-the-shoulder or in the hand. The roomy 15" x 15" x 5" size makes it a great traveling companion, either as an airline carry-on, or just as a bag that can take you from subway to taxi in style.
