Louis Vuitton is going green tomorrow, April 22, to celebrate Earth Day. The luxury handbag designer will donate 15% of the day's online American sales to The Climate Project. The Climate Project is the brainchild of Nobel Laureate and former vice president Al Gore. The international non-profit group looks to raise public awareness of the climate crisis.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with The Climate Project and promote environmental awareness in honor of Earth Day," said Daniel Lalonde, President and CEO of Louis Vuitton, North America. "Over the past few years Louis Vuitton has voluntarily made efforts to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. In addition we are proud to be able to support The Climate Project in its inspiring quest to raise awareness of the climate crisis."

Louis Vuitton has been a longtime supporter of the environmental charity, which has benefited from the brand's Core Values campaigns since 2007. Louis Vuitton has made donations to The Climate Project on behalf of the advertising's stars Catherine Deneuve, Andre Agassi and, Keith Richards, Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola, and Sean Connery.

A few months ago we told you that director Sofia Coppola was stepping out from behind the camera to design a fashion line for Louis Vuitton. We saw a sneak peek last year, and now Sofia's stylish line is taking Asia by storm.

Sofia was inspired to take a foray into fashion when she couldn't find her ideal shoes or purses. When Louis Vuitton offered to help her create her own pieces, she did what any girl would and jumped at the chance. The result is a collection that combines classic colors with spacious, practical designs.

Sofia said she was inspired by her idol Lauren Hutton when reinventing Louis Vuitton's slim-lined signature clutch.

"Lauren Hutton is one of my fashion heroines. I had her in mind when we did the Monogram pochette," Sofia explained.

It's just one of a selection of smaller clutch purses, which are designed to hide in your day bags until the sun goes down.

Sofia has a personal attachment to all her pieces, but does have a few special favorites.

"I especially love the navy day bag, and asphalt gray suede day bag ...  and the black pochette with gold piping and matching shoes," she said.

It sounds like there's a lot to love about this timeless collection! More international locations are set to follow the Asian release.

Sofia Coppola has debuted her first accessories line for Louis Vuitton. The Hollywood directory unveiled her collection of handbags and shoes in Tokyo last week.

"To start with I wanted to make a bag for myself and then we talked about making a little capsule collection," she told WWD.

"My friends and I are always searching for the perfect day bag. It fits all your things but isn't too big and isn't too heavy."

This picture provides a sneak peak of the collaboration, which includes an assortment of clutches, some duffle bags, and retro wedge sandals. The SC bag is the centerpiece of the range. It's available in four versions to suit a myriad of tastes.

Sofia has been hard at work on the line for the last year, and it looks like her efforts have paid off. I currently have my eye on the textured navy blue clutch, but I can't wait to see more of the collection!

It seems the rumors were true: Sean Connery is the new face of Louis Vuitton's Core Values advertising campaign.

Everyone's favorite James Bond posed for famed photographer Annie Leibovitz on a dock near his Bahamas residence. Aren't we all just a little bit jealous that he lives there? He might be 78 years old, but Sean still looks casually cool in his three-quarter pants and Bermuda hat.

Will Sofia Coppola make the move from Louis Vuitton model to designer? It's rumored that the acclaimed film director plans to create a line of Louis Vuitton handbags and shoes.

According to sources the French luxury brand will launch Sofia's collection in Japan before rolling it out around the world.

Sofia has long been associated with the iconic design house. She's often seated in the front row of Louis Vuitton’s fashion shows around the world, and she's currently starring with her father Francis Ford Coppola in LV's "core values" advertising campaign.

It's also not the award-winning director's first foray into fashion. As a teen, Sofia completed an internship with Chanel. Then after graduating from the California Institute of Arts, she launched Milk fed, a clothing line available exclusively in Japan.

What kind of fashion statement will one of Marc Jacob's favorite muses create? I'd wager the accessories will be just as cool and classic as Sofia herself!
