The price might not be exactly cheap and cheerful, but it's entirely reasonable for a woven purse crafted from washed Italian lambskin. Using such a soft skin allows Linea Pelle to create an incredibly intricate weave that is really quite stunning. That delicate finish combines with a relaxed slouchy profile to create a bag ready to make the transition from day to night.

The generous sized interior is organized with a large zippered pocket and multifunctional slip. Two smaller slip pouches would have been a more practical choice, as they'd snugly hug a cell phone and MP3 player. I'm really not sure what I'd use this large open pocket for, as things are bound to simply slip out into the main compartment. At least there’s a zip top closure to keep your goodies safe when they do!

In time-honored shades like black and tobacco brown, the Juliana is bound to become a wardrobe staple.

Cole Haan's line of hand-woven handbags in the Genevieve weave must be one of the brand's biggest sellers since they seem to have a countless number of bag styles with the design. From satchels to wallets, the Genevieve pops up in almost any search for Cole Haan bags.

Although the collection is nothing new to me, I can still appreciate it when the brand revamps the style for an improved look. This Genevieve Small Carpet Bag is an example of the signature feature used in a new way.

The combination of the structured, classic, and undeniably traditional carpet bag silhouette with the typically casual appearance of woven leather produces an interesting result. I would've expected a greater contrast between the two features if I had only read a description of the purse before looking at a picture. Somehow, though, the structured body and informal weave blend together effortlessly.

The rich color might have something to with integrating shape and texture so well. Normally, I would recommend limiting the carrying of woven handbags to the spring and summer months. In this dark "lacquer red" color, however, the Italian leather Genevieve Carpet Bag just might be able to make an appropriate appearance in the fall or maybe even winter.

The first word that popped into my mind when I saw this Cole Haan Geni bag was "generic". I can't honestly say that my opinion has changed much after looking at it for awhile, but simple doesn't necessarily equal boring in this instance.

There's no doubt that the design is simplistic and understated. The espresso brown color certainly won't stop anyone in their tracks. However, the small details on the Geni Satchel are what make it a purchase to consider.

The jacquard material on this mini satchel seems to be a spin on Cole Haan's signature optical weave seen on bags like the Genevieve and Denney. Though it's really nothing like the unique look of woven leather, at least it's more than solid plain fabric. It gives the appearance that there's more to the texture than there really is, a trompe l'oeil of sorts.

The leather trim and side panels also add to the visual interest of the Geni Shoulder Satchel as well as the side zippers and tassel pull. I also like the subtle touch of braided leather on the handle. It almost seems like a reminder that this is indeed a Cole Haan handbag despite its lack of typical Cole Haan features.

Woven leather handbags seem to be a hot commodity right now. I suppose it's somewhat to be expected now considering the season, but there do seem to be quite a few out on the market right now.

Some brands have entire collections based on a specific weave style, like the Genevieve style from Cole Haan. This Rafe Amanda shoulder bag is a bit different, though, with its metallic-flecked canvas body peeking through. The look is very similar to the Rafe Kate bag, but the two design styles are unique.

Whereas the Kate handbag goes is a little edgier and contemporary with diamond studs on lattice-shaped leather, the Amanda has a more classic weave with patent leather and shiny gold-toned hardware. I like the interesting blend of canvas and leather on the wrapped shoulder handle, too. It brings together the two textures nicely.

This handbag closes with a leather flap on the front. Though the slim design with no bottom panel might make it difficult to set down, it keeps it lightweight for carrying around, which is a feature I think I'd prefer anyway.

Cole Haan sure knows how to do a triangular-shaped handbag. We've seen them construct this style of bag in everything from nylon to their signature leather Genevieve weave.

It's impressive, really, for the brand to have so many various, uncompeting looks in the same style. I suppose they want to make sure you need one for every occasion, whether it be sporty or summer casual. For the slightly less than casual event, though, Cole Haan has provided yet another triangle tote in the Raleigh Small.

Because of the Raleigh's subtle off-white leather body, it isn't a showpiece handbag like the Plaid Genevieve. However, it will stand out on its own accord mostly because it is entirely one color.

I can imagine transitioning the pebbled leather Raleigh from warmer seasons to cooler ones. For now, it would look pretty and carefree when paired with light, summery colors or florals, but it could look equally chic as a winter white accessory when cold weather hits.

The Raleigh Small Triangle Tote has a pair of braided handles with an engraved logo plate hanging from one side. When purchasing this Cole Haan style, however, you might be surprised to find that you're getting a set. The Raleigh comes with a matching leather zippered pouch that attaches inside the tote. Two well-crafted, designer bags for $348 sounds like a good deal to me.

Botkier generally offers a variety of styles, but their handbags always incorporate current trends. The Marcel bag is no exception with its woven leather strips and metallic sheen.

Although it has a structured shape, this Botkier bag's texture and loosely folded sides soften its appearance. The frame and kiss-lock clasp add extra shine and keep it from looking slouchy.

This is the perfect bag to add some pop to an outfit. Woven leather can often look classic like the Genevieve, but the metallic strips on the Marcel give it a dash of contemporary instead.

If you don't want to lug it around in your hands, you can simply slip out the Marcel's ultra long strap. Twenty-two inches of chain might be a little bulky to store inside the bag when not in use, though, and would be better if it were removable. If you're going to get a large leather shopper, it might be a good idea to look for one in a neutral color so it won't overwhelm an outfit due to its sheer size. Of course, sometimes a big bright or patterned bag like the Cole Haan Genevieve Plaid is great for spicing up a neutral outfit.

However, if you want that versatile shopper tote that you can grab for almost any outfit and stuff with everything you can imagine, something like the Furla Ninfea Grande is ideal. The pebbled, ivory-colored leather is just about guaranteed to accessorize whatever you pull out of your closet.

Yes, it is neutral, but just because it's a basic color doesn't mean it's all about blending in. There are a few details that give it some interest. Besides the silver-toned hardware, a dark brown resin chain that weaves through the top of the bag is the only contrasting color, which makes the feature stand out.

The slim double handles seem a little out of proportion for the oversized shopper, but thankfully there is an attached longer strap that gives you more support as well as options for carrying. Most large handbags these days offer this convenient single strap. I only wish the one on the Furla Ninfea were detachable like many others. This large leather handbag retails for just over $600.

The Genevieve weave is a big line for Cole Haan, which is why they've expanded it to include a patterned version for variety. Though it's the same line that includes the Triangle Tote, I have to admit that I wouldn't have ever paired that bag with this one shown here if I hadn't seen the name first.

This plaid woven tote does, however, come from the same woven leather collection as the Triangle. If you look closely, you can see the similarity of the optical weave. In my opinion, the contrasting black and white plaid pattern makes this version of the Genevieve much more interesting.

If this particular combo of colors is too basic for you, the plaid comes in a spicy orange and white duo as well. Don't expect any Burberry checks on this pattern, though. This Cole Haan plaid is supersized to make a statement. It's equally as noticeable as Burberry and maybe will eventually become as recognizable.

Being a tote handbag, it's got plenty of open space in the interior compartment. You might lose a few things down at the bottom of the bag, but I'm sure we all expect that to happen with a deep tote. The width is fairly generous, too, for extra practicality.

The woven leather look is certainly nothing new for handbag fashion. The intricate technique has been done again and again for spring and summer collections. Though these basket-like bags are a dime a dozen right now, the Cole Haan Denney stood out to me with its simple design.

The Denney bag has actually been around for a little while and has been available in suede for the fall/winter months. This version, though, is from Cole Haan's woven Genevieve collection just like the Triangle Tote I reviewed several weeks ago.

While the tanned leather material used on the two handbags is the same, the styles are very different. I actually prefer the Denney for everyday use because of its more practical aspects. Personally, I can see myself losing endless amounts of important things at the bottom of the Triangle Tote, whereas the Denney would have easier access to items due to its wide rather than deep shape.

I always appreciate side pockets, too, even though they're not the most aesthetically pleasing detail. From a convenience standpoint, though, they are a great addition. My one complaint about this version of the Denney is the shiny metallic hardware that jumps out at you. Combined with the woven texture, it makes the purse just a little too busy, in my opinion. Maybe a brushed metal would've been less distracting.

The Cole Haan Denney comes in this large chocolate-colored Genevieve optical weave as well as a multitude of other colors and sizes. Look for it in solid leather and suede too. This large woven version sells for $595.
