Bulgari has gone back to the vault to celebrate its 125th anniversary. The Italian luxury brand has revived classic collections – the Doppio Tondo, Leoni, Collezione 1910, and Twist – but given them modern makeovers.

The Doppio Tondo line retains the distinctive double overlapped round metallic rings engraved with the double "Bulgari" logo. These double rings take inspiration from the infinite loop, reminding us of the classic styling the brand represents. The wine red and forest green shades are new though, the jewel tones ideal for the cooler weather ahead.

We see the double logo again in the Twist, although this time it's printed on a duo of medallions. This season the line has a more relaxed feel thanks to the drawstring closure.

The Leoni bags are also a little more casual this time around, with their rounded corners. The original handles and clasps have also been moved to the center of the purse for a bold new look.

The Collezione 1910 hearkens back to the year the first Bulgari store opened in Rome. The collection features the brand's original Art Nouveau style advertisement printed on leather, oiled linen, or cotton canvas. Calfskin trimmings and handles add a little luxury to the less decadent fabrics, while the leather receives a special treatment for everyday use.

The retro Bulgari bags aren't cheap, with the leather purses clocking in at a few thousand a piece, but the classic styles might be worth a splurge.

New Bulgari Bags on eBay

It's hard to believe that any high fashion designer would draw inspiration from the world of sports, but that's exactly what got Alexander Wang motivated for his new Spring 2010 collection that was recently revealed on the catwalk: football.

Instead of tough, edgy, and majorly studded, this new line is sporty chic with an almost vintage-ish feel. When viewing images of the whole collection at once, I can't help but think of the recent 1920s-era George Clooney football film Leatherheads. I have no idea if Alexander Wang was thinking along those lines, but I can't help but see some similarities, though there's a definite modern take to the collection.

The most obvious display of the inspiration, in my opinion, can be seen on one of the new spring handbags. The Brady Football Clutch actually looks like a pigskin, just with a little decorative topstitching and a zipper running across the middle. It's quirky, which I'd expect from the designer, and a little odd, but I actually like it when combined with the other looks from the collection.

Carlos Falchi has captured his signature style for less with this satchel, part of his capsule collection for department store Target.

Of course, to make this purse so affordable there are compromises made. There's not a hint of genuine python in the snakeskin collage body. The glossy finish probably gives that away, but by keeping the colors dark the design doesn't look quite as tacky as it could have. The combination of black, forest green, and charcoal gray PVC is striking and ideal for winter weather. And let's not forget, while real leather shows stains quickly PVC simply wipes clean.

The interior has a much lighter look with its colorful fabric lining. I love the way the Target logo is subtly incorporated into the whimsical printed polyester. The generous space is organized better than most bags in this price bracket, with a cell phone slip, zip pocket, a sunglasses pouch and a key ring holder. You'll also find another zippered pocket on the outside of the bag, just in case you were running out of storage options!

The shape isn't very inspired and the fabrics not very luxurious, but this satchel definitely has the Carlos Falchi stamp. And for just $50, it's an affordable alternative to the designer's high-end accessories.

Bulgari's Dalia bag has been spotted on the arms of Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes, and Frieda Pinto. But it's not hard to see why. The relaxed hobo-like slouch of buttery soft leather combines with the simple, sophisticated design makes this Bulgari purse the ideal day-to-night accessory.

This is one bag that gives us options, although none of them are exactly cheap. This ebony calf leather Dalia is one of the most affordable at $2100. If your budget can stretch further you may consider the Dalia in buffalo leather or even python. I love the Dalia's sexy curves and soft, sensual pleats. The hardware is kept to a minimum; small buckles on the side and the logo embossed double ring in the center give a flash of metallic gleam while keeping the bag's classic looks intact.

This is an enormous bag, make no mistake, but as it doesn't dwarf the frame of its celebrity fans us mere mortals should be able to handle it. I'd have appreciated more than a the tiny zippered pocket and cell phone slip to keep such a large space organized, but I think carrying such a delicious piece of arm candy would be worth the extra effort!

We can look forward to many more gorgeous handbags and nutty comments from Chanel creative director and famous egomaniac Karl Lagerfield. One of fashion's most colorful characters told Germany's Freundin magazine he has no plans for retirement.

"Retirement is not one of the topics with which I deal. Why should I? I still have so many projects that I sometimes don't know where to begin. Chanel will still need some clothes when I'm 89," he said.

Of course I'm sure someone else could design those clothes if Karl were to step down, but it's not surprising to hear he doesn't entertain that thought!

There must be something about Chanel that compels folks to stick around. Coco Chanel never retired, so it's fitting that Karl Lagerfield is planning to do the same thing. He's already got 27 years under his belt, and he's showing no signs of becoming stiff or stale. So why not continue the legacy? Heaven knows any replacement would have some very big shoes to fill!

Miulein cut the bottoms off of two bottles, connected them with a zipper and made this sweet little green change purse. It's cute and you do your part to save the planet!
