Tiffany & Co. has thrown embattled handbag brand Lambertson Truex a lifeline. The jewelry giant has bought out the label, which filed for bankruptcy in March, and hired its designers to boot.
Tiffany spokesman Mark Aaron said Richard Lambertson and John Truex were "well-regarded" in the industry, and vital to Tiffany's vision of developing handbags and leather accessories. After all, Tiffany wouldn't know the first thing about designing purses. The dynamic duo of Lambertson Truex on the other hand, has wowed bagistas with beauties like this snakeskin satchel and Cavallino clutch.
“This is a way to possibly pursue it,” affirmed Mr. Aaron. "We think it's an area that has potential."
He added that it was "too early" to determine whether the leather goods would be marketed under the Lambertson Truex or Tiffany & Co. banner.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but they matter naught to Lambertson Truex fans. We’re just waiting to see what comes next!
