50 Unusually Bold and Bizarre Bags 21-30

The $52k Bag

This Louis Vuitton Tribute bag is made in France and is a patchwork mess of 14 Louis Vuitton bags. Louis Vuitton has definitely made a mark on the fashion industry, and many LV bags remain classics to this day. Somehow I don't imagine it to be the case with this one, despite the hype. Only 24 were made and Beyonce Knowles is one of the lucky owners of this $52,000 purse.

Undergarments Exposed

Many people like to keep their undergarments concealed under clothing, but others are proud to show them off. This bag celebrates the latter. These were in about seven years ago, no joke. They are stiff, have small entry zippers and only get so unique. Corsets are still in, but it will be up to you whether or not carrying this around town is an option.

A Bag Against Breast Cancer

Handbags made from bras are popular and are generally made and sold as a way to promote the fight against breast cancer and promote awareness. These are fairly simple to construct and make a positive statement. Although you may not carry it around on a daily basis due to the size and functionality, the cause is close to all of our hearts, so you should take the chance to fight it however you can.

Skunk Fur by Fendi

Although the skunk is not the best loved animal anywhere, we're sure PETA still doesn't appreciate this Fendi skunk fur purse. Does anyone know if skunk fur is soft though? Getting too close to one anywhere else would be a hazard. With such detail, this bag may be too much for some to handle. Decorated with the fur of a skunk, many would say this bag really stinks.

Chinese Take Out Bag

Love Chinese take out? This is the handbag for you. The design is clever and creative, to say the least. The use of materials to craft a small purse into the likeness of a take-out box speaks for itself. Just be sure to keep things straight; you wouldn't want anyone to dump noodles into your purse, unless you don't have anything else to pack your leftovers in.

Chicken Feet

Everyone loves a bag with form and function; classic structure mated with a creative twist make this accessory quite unique. We're sure this handbag is sure to get second looks. To protect the bottom of the bag from scuffs, it actually has feet. And not just any feet either; they are chicken feet. It looks like it's about to run away!

Toad Bag

This strange looking bag looks like an oversized toad. What's not to love? Plenty. Wait a second, you're right; it is an oversized toad. We don't have to get into all the issues you may come across carrying this beaut, like nausea and ugly looks, but one has to wonder how much actually fits inside of the bag. If nothing else, it can function as a glorified cell phone case.

A Swinging Dead Cat Bag

The design of this dead cat bag may not be a favorite for cat lovers, but it's definitely an attention getter. It doesn't look easy to carry, with an inflexible bar as the handle. It also seems relatively small, which wouldn't allow for many goodies, despite how inconveniently wide the purse is. How does it open? We hope it doesn't follow anatomy.

Peacekeeper Bag

Live in a rough neighborhood? This purse has a brass knuckle handle that shows thugs you're not to be messed with. But really, most reasonably sized purses can function as a decent whacker. We think this is more of a statement of attitude than statement of actual functionality. Although, it looks like the handle is removable, so you can get down to business if need be.

Russian Doll Handbag

This absolutely precious handbag is made from the outermost Russian nesting doll. It's unusual and completely irresistible. It would be a great little accessory for a night out on the town, and the classic colors allow for easy matching with many outfits. A wonderful plus is that it appears able to hold more than just a tube of lipstick, maybe ID, your cell, and some cash, which is something we all look for in a formal handbag.

Support Breast Cancer Awareness with Lauren Merkin’s Embossed Leather Wallet

Posted on: Oct 2

Yet another designer has made a social statement by stepping out in support of October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Tons of companies are getting in on the action and donating a portion of their profits to a charity or organization that works toward ending breast cancer or supports those who are currently battling it.

This time it is popular clutch designer Lauren Merkin showing her true colors (or rather just the color pink) by donating to the Young Survival Coalition, which works with cancer victims and survivors under 40. It's not the first company to choose the organization either. Tarte Cosmetics is also running a promotion this month to raise financial assistance for the coalition.

Lauren Merkin's contribution to the efforts also consists of a donation of proceeds. During October, 50% of the profits from sales of the designer's fuchsia-colored tile embossed large wallet will go directly to YSC. The hot pink stylish, zippered wallet is for sale on Lauren Merkin's website for $175.

Pink Clipa Handbag Hangers Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Research

Posted on: Oct 1

We all know handbag hangers are an ideal way to keep away bacterial nasties and prevent leather scuffs. But this month, they're also a great way to help fund breast cancer research.

To coincide with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Topcor has released a special pink version of its popular Clipa handbag hanger. Known as Clipa for a Cure, 10% of the retail price will benefit breast cancer research.

The Clipa purse hook has a hidden automatic closure system, which clips to single and dual shoulder straps. You just place it on the edge of a table and hang your bag from the other end. Each hook can hold up to 45 pounds, so it doesn't matter how much you carry with you! When it's not holding up your handbag, the Clipa can also double as a bracelet. Not a particularly stylish one, mind you, but a bracelet nonetheless!

Breast cancer is one of the leading cause of cancer death in women. Scarier still, a whopping 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. The next victim could be your mother, sister, best friend, or yourself.

The Clipa for a Cure costs $24.95. Buy yours online from October 5.

Win Designer Purses from Handbag.com during Handbag Month Giveaway

Posted on: Sep 9

Handbag.com is doing more than collaborating with Cancer Research UK for their Handbag Amnesty program to fund breast cancer research in the United Kingdom. On a less solemn note, they're bringing designer fashion to the masses.

The website is giving away one gorgeous purse every day during the month of September. That's thirty chances to win one (well, a few less now that we're already mid-month). Today's giveaway was a pretty purple D&G bowler bag, but that's just the beginning. They've also got designs by Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, Chloe, Lauren Merkin, and other favorites you see on BagBunch.

You've still got plenty of chances to win one of your very own handbags. The website will select winners each morning and set the next prize on display. Be sure to read the fine print, though. Handbag.com's competitions are only open to UK residents who are at least 18 or older.

Celebrities Donate Purses for Handbag Amnesty | Bid on a Bag and Help Cure Cancer

Posted on: Sep 9

The annual Handbag Amnesty is on again, giving ordinary bagistas the chance to nab celebrity purses, and raise funds for cancer research at the same time.

Some of the world's most stylish stars have donated bags from their private collections. You could own Paris Hilton's own Paris Hilton handbag, Scarlett Johansson's Anya Hindmarch tote, or Annie Lennox's eco-friendly pop-top purse!

Handbag Amnesty is a partnership between fashion website handbag.com and Cancer Research UK. All profits raised will help benefit the cancer charity, which is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the United Kingdom. The initiative is part of the site's Handbag Month, which takes place through September and culminates with the handbag auction from October 2 to 11.

Celebrities aren't the only ones encouraged to part with their purses. Members of the public are also encouraged to donate their own unwanted bags to their nearest Cancer Research UK store. Everyone who donates a handbag will be entered in the draw for a Stella McCartney purse to replace the one they've given away!

Click here to see all the celebrity handbags up for auction this October.

Hobo International Jolie Cosmetics Bag | Cute Pink Bag Supporting Breast Cancer Research

Posted on: Jul 22

It is always nice when a large multi-million dollar brand take a moment out to support and publicize a charity. Which is exactly what Hobo international have done with this cute girlie pink make-up case, 25% of the profit of which goes directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Often the allure of generosity and charity is enough to convince buyers into purchasing a bag. Just look at the trendy success of the World Food Programme Feed Bag. How, it always comes in handy when the bag is functional, good looking and luxurious on top of all its eco-credentials!

This purse may be a little too pink for some. Whilst Breast Cancer accessories are always pink and proud, this is a little more glamorous and sparkly than some more "sophisticated" bags out there. However, as this makeup case is due to go inside your outer handbag, I think a girl is allowed a bit of pink and flirty to have fun with!

The lining of this little purse may not be pink, but it is sparkly and luxurious looking too. In true Hobo style, they have taken a charity concept and turned it into a cute (if glittery) and bold (if girly) bag that will do as much good to the world as it will to your chirpiness!

More Features of this Hobo International Cosmetic Case

  • 25% revenue goes to Breast Cancer charity
  • Interior pockets for easy makeup storage
  • Leather exterior
  • Zip closure

Michael Kors and Heidi Klum Participate in Breast Cancer Research Campaign

Posted on: Jun 15

Michael Kors is now as well-known for his face and repetitive clothing choices as his sophisticated designs, thanks to his participation in the popular Project Runway series. With model Heidi Klum at his side, the fashionable duo is taking their teamwork to more rewarding heights.

Kors and Klum are working together for this year's Saks Fifth Avenue Key to the Cure campaign in support of the Breast Cancer Reasearch Foundation. The designer created the campaign's limited edition shirt, which Heidi models in the printed public service announcement.

WWD explained the significance of Michael Kors' involvement in the project:

"For Kors, participating in this campaign also means much to him personally. The mother of Lance Le Pere, executive vice president and creative director at his company and Kors’ partner, passed away from breast cancer, and the designer has had many people in his family, as well as his friends, affected by the disease."

The Kors-designed t-shirt will hit Saks stores on October 1 with a retail price of $40.

Maddalena Marconi Pink Satin Purse | Jeweled Evening Clutch with Chain Strap

Posted on: May 6

At the end of the month I'm attending a ball to raise funds for breast cancer research. Naturally, the theme is black and pink. I considered finding a black clutch, but knowing my purse would be just one in a sea of conservative tones I decided against it. And so my quest for that perfect pink bag was born.

It's not as easy as it sounds. Most pink purses tend to be excessively girly affairs, with frothy candy colors. This Maddalena Marconi clutch bucks the trend, with a rosy shade that's feminine yet subdued. This soft tone is rendered on glam satin, ideal for any evening soiree.

The glitz is amped up by a smattering of white Swarovski crystals and polished gold hardware. I love the gems, but I'm less convinced by the brassy gold. Silver may not have looked so rich, but I think it would be a better complement to the blush satin.

Clutches tend to compromise storage space, and this one's no exception. The frame design creates a chic profile, but it also doesn't allow for overstuffing. This is strictly a purse for carrying the bare essentials.

Ultimately what makes me hesitate most is the price. For $615, I demand an accessory I'll get plenty of use from. A pink purse is perfect for a breast cancer ball, but I'm not sure what other occasion might call for it!

More Features of This Maddalena Marconi Jeweled Evening Purse

  • A fold-up clasp
  • A gold chain strap
  • Measures 1.6 x 9.1 x 3.2 inches
  • Weighs 7 ounces
  • Comes with a dust bag
  • Made in Italy

"I am honoured to be chosen as ambassador of such a worthy cause and initiative. Breast cancer affects women of all ages worldwide, and I commend the Breast Health International and Tommy Hilfiger for stepping up to the mark, to find a cure for this disease," Helena added.
