It's hard to believe that any high fashion designer would draw inspiration from the world of sports, but that's exactly what got Alexander Wang motivated for his new Spring 2010 collection that was recently revealed on the catwalk: football.

Instead of tough, edgy, and majorly studded, this new line is sporty chic with an almost vintage-ish feel. When viewing images of the whole collection at once, I can't help but think of the recent 1920s-era George Clooney football film Leatherheads. I have no idea if Alexander Wang was thinking along those lines, but I can't help but see some similarities, though there's a definite modern take to the collection.

The most obvious display of the inspiration, in my opinion, can be seen on one of the new spring handbags. The Brady Football Clutch actually looks like a pigskin, just with a little decorative topstitching and a zipper running across the middle. It's quirky, which I'd expect from the designer, and a little odd, but I actually like it when combined with the other looks from the collection.

This bag was made from candy wrappers that would have ended up in the landfill, which makes it not only super cute, but eco-friendly as well. It reminds us of the Capri Sun bag, but in a cute, pocket-sized coin purse version. Bally ups the sophistication factor of the traditional hobo with the Keli.

The crescent shape and relaxed form are pure vintage hobo, but there's a certain chicness here missing from those classic purses. This one's much more uptown girl than flower child, making it a more versatile choice for most fashionistas. The nappa leather and pleats bring that sophistication, while emphasizing that casual slouch.

I do worry about how sophisticated a purse of this size will look slung over a shoulder though. There's always the risk of overwhelming your frame with an oversized bag, and this one definitely fits that description. But at least there's the space to carry everything you need, and a few things you don't!

I'd have appreciated a few more color options, but it's hard to argue with the appeal of basic black. In this classic shade you could easily pair the Keli with a power suit during the day before toting it to the bar for a few martinis afterwards!

I'll admit that I sometimes get a little mixed up about all of the different lines underneath luxury label Moschino. Not only is there the main brand but also Moschino Cheap & Chic and Love Moschino.

Sometimes it can get a little confusing, but one thing I know for sure. I might love the chic styles of the secondary lines, though I would never categorize them cheap; but it's the main line of just plain Moschino that puts out the most luxurious, expensive, and often most classic styles of the three lines. This Moschino Beluga Shoulder Bag is a perfect example.

The quality of the Beluga is top-notch, and I'd expect nothing less from a purse that costs nearly $1,700. It's the kind of handbag that you don't toss in the back of the closet or replace anytime soon when you factor in the price and the versatility of the style.

The somewhat casual style of the shoulder bag makes it great for regular use. Pretty ruching around the top emphasizes the lightly pebbled leather texture and adds a bit of slouch to the shape. A few buckled details on the handle and leather strips down the front give this brown leather purse a hint of equestrian style, though the look is very subtle.

The Beluga is simple but lovely with designer touches, a great everyday shape, and practical touches including a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap. If you can afford the price tag, this one just might be worth the investment.

This is a Bally bag that Bally can be proud of. As some of the most expensive and desirable purses on the market, Bally bags always ooze glamor and luxury, and this huge spacious tote is no exception.

This soft leather hold-all is designed to last forever, from the quality leather to the artistic workmanship. For $1800 you expect nothing less than perfection, and the fantastically sculpted lines suggest that the Bally designers have done their utmost to make that the case.

This tote, with its slouchy shape and space, is great for carrying your belongings through day and night. With the huge and versatile capacity, however, I am surprised that the handles are so small. Despite the shape hinting at heavy loads to be carried, I get the impression that this status symbol bag is more about looks than actually being used. Somehow, although it isn't unexpected, I feel disappointed that such a fabulous bag doesn't quite live up to its hugely posh expectations.

Whatever the little hesitations, however, this is a true Bally bag. It is sophisticated and classy, and perfect for work or play. Taking you seamlessly from day to night, I love it!

If you're interested in the fashion industry, you're probably glued to the television when reality shows like Project Runway and The Rachel Zoe Project are on. Although the shows' concepts are different, the peek into the behind-the-scenes world of fashion is priceless.

Though now on Lifetime, Project Runway began on Bravo TV, the place that The Rachel Zoe Project calls home. The network has made fashion reality a priority, and it's hoping to continue the trend.

Evidently it's got it's eyes set on Marc Jacobs. After reading a past interview where the designer discussed wanting his own reality show, Bravo has been chomping at the bit to get the ball rolling.

Bravo executive Andy Cohen discussed the network's interest:

"I think he got calls from everywhere," Cohen told us. "And we've talked to him about it so many times, and we're grateful enough that he's appeared on 'The Rachel Zoe Project' for two seasons," he added. But then Cohen crumpled: "But we are desperate for Marc — to get him on Bravo."

If this project takes flight, I'm guessing it will be a huge hit for Bravo, possibly even filling the hole that Project Runway left.

Lodis is a brand that knows its niche. It’s not one to take risks, but the label always delivers chic and sophisticated accessories.

The berry-colored calfskin is stamped with exotic crocodile scales. Keeping the scales uneven and irregular gives the purse an authentic air missing in many embossed accessories. I might just be fooled by this one if I didn't know better!

It's not a large purse by any means, but the long, slim design strikes the balance between space and sophistication. Inside you'll find a zippered pocket for loose change and an ID slot for your cards. A magnetic closure beneath the flap keeps your party essentials in order.

In a world of metal-strapped clutches, the leather handle is a godsend. How refreshing to wear a strapless dress to a party and not suffer unsightly chain marks on your shoulder! Speaking of those upcoming parties, this cherry red is positively festive. The Arno Runway is also available in mint green and lilac.

Every gal needs a good basic, stylish tote bag. It's an essential wardrobe piece and an addition that's ideal for those days when you've just got to grab-and-go while getting ready. We all have them, right?

There are also times when entirely practical has to accompany basic and stylish. That's where B. Makowsky got it right with this Lites Greenwich E/W tote. In my opinion, this handbag fits all three categories with a little edge on top of everything else.

It's a rather enormous size ringing in at over eighteen inches wide, but I don't know many women who couldn't fill it up on a busy day in less than five minutes. The superb interior organizational features make it a great option for work or play. There's even a zippered center divider inside and side slip pockets on the exterior for storing particulars.

Beyond the convenience of pockets, however, the Lites Greenwich tote bag has a pretty crinkled leather texture that looks fabulous in this toffee brown. The effect reminds me of the swishy broomstick skirts that were so popular in past years, but frankly I'm much more content to carry the texture around on a leather purse than wear it. The Greenwich E/W tote also comes in an equally basic black color as well as a not-so-basic orange.
