I normally throw my support behind any new eco-friendly bags, but I must admit that this Baggu line has me scratching my head.

The brand has taken its popular reusable shopper and added a president. I'm not quite sure who would want to carry a shopper with the screen printed face of Abraham Lincoln on it, but those patriotic history lovers are sure to be pleased.

Like all Baggu bags, this limited edition Lincoln shopper is made from ripstop nylon. This fabric is lightweight, and guaranteed not to tear when carrying cans and other groceries weighing up to 25 pounds. It big enough to hold the equivalent of two or three plastic bags, but folds up into a 5 x 5 inch pouch, so you can stash it away in your handbag or pocket. Supermarket spills are no problem, as this Baggu bag is machine washable.

At $12, this Baggu bag works out to be more expensive than the brand's typical multipacks. But it is a little more fun than the traditional single-color options.

Baggu's line of reusable shopping totes are environmentally-friendly, durable, and as stylish as a replacement for plastic grocery bags can be. Actually, these tough, little ripstop nylon bags are popular for more than just supermarket shopping since their cute style options, including stripes, florals, and other prints, make them appropriate for everyday use as well.

Well, now the company that brought you the Baggu Tote has added a new sibling to their collection of totes. Instead of ripstop nylon, however, this one is made from 100% recycled cotton canvas.

The recently debuted Duck Bag is as equally sturdy as the original Baggu Tote but with a different shape and convenient features. The short double handles don't seem very practical, but the longer adjustable shoulder strap is great for wearing across the body while running errands or toting around books, paperwork, or even a laptop.

The Duck Bag retails for an extremely affordable $18 and is currently available in eight colors, though I'm guessing the options will expand as the tote gains popularity. Get your own (plus maybe a few extra for Christmas gifts) on Baggu's website.

Baggu Bags on eBay

A Scottish stylista recently bagged a bargain, after paying just a few hundred pounds for a Hermes handbag. The prized purse was sold at the Cancer Research UK shop in Pitlochry, Perthshire.

It's estimated that the bag was worth at least £1500, but the store owners were happy to accept the much smaller donation.

"Myself and Sarah, who works out in the store, were looking through a selection of bags, and then this classy looking bag appears at the bottom of the plastic bag. I was still trying to work out what it was, when Sarah starts jumping around saying 'It's a Hermes. It's a Hermes,'" explained store manager, Mary Butchart.

The charity store was inundated with calls as rumors of the Hermes handbag quickly swept the town.

"Yesterday I received over a dozen calls from people saying they're interested in the bag, but on Monday a woman came into buy it. We'd been urged by people to put it up on eBay but as a charity we can't do that. However, this woman came and was willing to pay the cash up front for the bag, so we thought it was a very fair offer."

I'm sure the mystery buyer agreed! This is definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time.

Today marks the first International Plastic Bag Free Day, a global initiative which encourages everyone to ditch the plastic bags and carry their groceries home in reusable totes.

The event is the brainchild of the United Kingdom's Marine Conservation Society, but it's received support around the world. The organization has a vested interest in abolishing plastic bags after seeing firsthand the devastation they can cause to waterways and marine animals.

"We need as many people as possible to take part to make the day a success and show that one of the most preventable forms of plastic litter can easily be stopped," said the group's Pollution Program Manager, Dr. Sue Kinsey. "Plastic bags are a menace to marine wildlife and blight our landscape. Groups as far afield as Canada and Hawaii are taking part and making this a truly international day!"

With so many cute cotton and canvas totes available, this is one green trend that's easy to follow!

Reusable Tote Bags on eBay

Chloé is one of my favorite lines. It always seems to come up with something totally unique and chic. Unfortunately, this Joy Rider tote doesn't bear any resemblance to the Chloé I've come to know and love.

The puffy metallic nylon and the generally slouchy design of the bag make it look almost completely shapeless. That, in combination with the fluffy lamb keyring (which, thank God, is detachable), makes it look like an oversized child's lunchbox.

I think this bag will mostly appeal to teenage ravers. In 1995. It's seriously that ridiculous. But throw it together with some baggy jeans, a baby tee, and oh, I don't know, a candy pacifier, and you basically have the perfect throwback costume.

On the plus side, it's only $195, so if you're super desperate for a designer bag, then this one is quite affordable. Frankly, I'm not even sure I would use it as a gym bag. If only it weren't this ostentatious color, I think it could be salvaged as a tote, but in blue, eww.

Since I really can't think of anything nice to say about this bag, I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.

Inge Christopher is a growing force in the handbag world, with a strong focus on decorative touches and individual looks.

I am struck at first glance by the somewhat controversial combination of gold and silver that Inge Christopher used on this flashy baguette. Generally these two glittery substances are kept a world apart. I am not convinced by the pairing personally, but many people love the classy looks and over-the-top impression.

One thing this clutch does well is bling! From the beautifully laid out diamante down the center section through to the smooth silver mesh, class and quality are exuded from every handbag pore! Even the clasp is decorative and bold, with row upon row of shimmering diamante!

As you can see, this is an attention seeking baguette with plenty of space. The elegant curved shape doubles up to mean extra space through the widened bottom end. Although the frame is hard and thus inflexible, you should have room for a decent number of belongings. After all, as an evening bag and an evening bag alone, this should more than meet the baggage requirements!

Subtlety has been thrown to the wind with this brash and shimmery clutch!

We recently heard that the financial crisis hasn't tempered our love of shopping, but new research shows 83% of women feel guilty after making those luxury purchases. That's one-third more guilty shoppers than before the credit crunch.

The survey by Skinny Cow also found that 86% of women justify their latest purse purchase, while others simply hide the evidence from their partners.

One in ten women told white lies about their spending, while roughly the same amount of girls try to pass new fashion finds off as old items from their closets. Considering how many men actually notice our outfits, that's probably pretty easy to do!

One-fifth of women admitted they'd live on baked beans and toast to afford the latest It bag or pair of Jimmy Choo heels. But that's not the only money-saving trick we'll resort to. Twenty percent of girls sold old outfits on eBay to afford new ones, while 3% were cheeky enough to ask for an advance on their wages!

"Life at the moment is full of stresses with money being right up there, but it’s difficult to break the habit of a lifetime," a spokesman for Skinny Cow said.

"Going shopping now comes with more baggage, so women are trying to find creative ways to justify their spree while looking to other indulgences in their life which are guilt-free."
