This cute hobo from Calvin Klein is more uptown glamour girl than flower power princess, thanks to its sexy metallic shine.

The genuine leather gives the Metallic Pleats hobo a little slouch, but it's not as pronounced as many bags of this type. The stitched pleats create extra structure and style, which makes this purse a great option for day-to-night wear.

At least, it is if you know how to travel light. It is called a mini hobo after all! The slender profile really limits storage space, so beware if you own a chunky wallet or like to have a fat novel on hand. Another practical limitation is the strap, which is just that fraction too short for comfortable over-the-shoulder carrying.

This dark hematite shade is my favorite. It's a little less glitzy and more reserved option than the bold silver version. Of course, many bagistas love that light bright look, so it’s nice to see Calvin Klein offering both metallic options.

They are stiff, have small entry zippers and only get so unique. Corsets are still in, but it will be up to you whether or not carrying this around town is an option.

It also seems relatively small, which wouldn't allow for many goodies, despite how inconveniently wide the purse is. How does it open? We hope it doesn't follow anatomy.

We think this is more of a statement of attitude than statement of actual functionality. Although, it looks like the handle is removable, so you can get down to business if need be.

This absolutely precious handbag is made from the outermost Russian nesting doll. It's unusual and completely irresistible. It would be a great little accessory for a night out on the town, and the classic colors allow for easy matching with many outfits. A wonderful plus is that it appears able to hold more than just a tube of lipstick, maybe ID, your cell, and some cash, which is something we all look for in a formal handbag.

This SR Squared by Sondra Roberts pocketbook is for gals who like a little whimsy with their accessories. It's hard not to take notice of this quirky little bag.

If you're not looking closely, it might be easy to miss the martini glass on the front of this credit card holder, but really it's quite in plain sight when you know it's there. The dead giveaway is the green and red olive on the tip of the envelope flap, or rather the "bottom of the glass."

Although a patent sheen on synthetic leather isn't always the best choice since it can sometimes make a bag's manmade appearance stand out even more, it somehow seems appropriate on this SR Squared design given the topic. My only hesitation is the matching stitching that runs around the shape of the martini glass and olive. I would've preferred a solid shape instead to keep everything simple.

Classified as a credit card holder, this wallet-like bag is certainly not substantial in size and is meant to sit in a purse or handbag rather than function as a clutch. However, it would be great for a night on the town when you need your cards and cash close by. It's nicely priced, too, at only $25.

Von Avi bags take the metallic craze to new heights. The brainchild of New Zealand couple Kaz and Greg Von Heraud Parker, the innovative handbag line is crafted from aluminum and aircraft rivets.

Mr. Von Heraud Parker, a former aircraft worker, uses the same skills to create the bags that he did building airplane wings.

"It's all pattern-making, bending, folding and riveting," he said.

The durable metal exterior is in contrast with the bags' lush leather and fabric lining. Each purse also comes with interior lights, perfect for finding your car keys on late night's out!

The range features bags of several sizes; there's the tiny Barfly, the everyday Girl About Town, and the supersized BBB. Aluminum Bags on eBay

Anya Hindmarch is a relative newcomer on the design front, but she has quickly developed an A-list following. Her fashion-forward contemporary classics are the kind of accessories that look fabulous long after the season passes.

This Three Pocket clutch is one of the most fabulous finds of the fall season. The combination of gray leathers creates a colorblocked look that is both 80's retro and also totally of-the-moment. The neutral color palette and sophisticated chain strap make it the type of clutch that can turn up the volume on your office wardrobe without looking ostentatious. But it has enough of an edgy evening appeal to go out on the town with your favorite LBD.

The interior of the clutch features two front pockets and two inner compartments, which should provide you with at least enough organizational options, if not too many. My only complaint with this aspect of the bag is that it seems like you might end up with basically one item in each pocket, which translates to a whole lot of opening and closing.

The logo press closure on the front mimics the shape of the bag and is relatively innocuous, as far as logos go. But personally, I don't love it. There's something a little generic about it, a little less thought out than the rest of the clutch, that I just don't find appealing.

Overall, though, I think this clutch is fabulous and has a great day-to-night appeal.

Kara Ross might be the new reigning queen of the clutch. Her luxurious, uptown designs are quickly make her into a one woman accessory sensation.

This Gemma Onyx Clutch is a good reason why she should have so much acclaim. In the overdesigned, overdecorated world of fashion, simple, timeless elegance really stands out. The luxe black velvet, though is both totally classic and totally now. All of fall's gothed out designs are just begging for a clutch like this.

The lines of this bag are smooth and clean, the only detail being the upraised seams, which add dimension and texture to the material. The goldtone and onyx clasp is a real centerpiece. It has a subtle, old Hollywood charm that is rare these days.

The 10" x 5" x 4" size is small enough to fit comfortably in your hand, but generous enough to hold more than just the basic nighttime necessities. The twill-lined interior doesn't have much in the way of organizational features, just a small patch pocket, but there's not enough room to worry about finding things, anyhow.

Even the price seems reasonable. At $455, this is a great price on an investment piece for this fall and future seasons.

The Mademoiselle collection from Guess has the kind of easy bags you can wear on a regular basis knowing that they'll go with most casual, everyday outfits.

I wouldn't carry the Mademoiselle N/S Shopper to a night at the theatre, but this handbag has plenty of other practical uses. It's significantly sized interior is wonderfully convenient for long days away from home, such as trips around town or days at the office. Because of the handbag's stretched-out, north to south length, you'll be able to fit plenty of papers and other tall items when you carry it on your shoulder.

For other times when hands-free is the way to go, the Mademoiselle shopper has an optional longer strap that adjusts to your ideal length for a cross body style. You can also wear this alternate strap on your shoulder, if you prefer.

When the double braided handles are in use, the Mademoiselle N/S is a tall tote-like bag, which is easy to toss things into as well as remove. Coach knows just how to tease us with pearlized leathers in plum and metallics to get us in the mood for fall when there's still weeks left of summer.

Its new Cambridge Collection, available online now, will hit stores September 1. The collection includes five styles including my favorite: the Cambridge Zip Top Tote in plum shown at right. Other styles include the Alexa, a doctor-bag style in both a fringe and non-fringe version, a zip-tastic foldover clutch and a roomy hobo.

Okay, I won't lie. I've never really been a woman on the Judith Leiber bandwagon. I went to one of her stores in Las Vegas and was literally dumbfounded by the prices and the bizarre array of multicolored crystals. But, since there's an exhibit of her designs not ten blocks from my home, I thought I'd give her line another look. 

Truthfully, I still don't really get what the fuss is about. Of course, my personal aesthetic is basically all black, denim and leather, so who's surprised? But this parrot really caught my eye. The striking red color and multicolored accents, I have to admit, are masterfully rendered. Even the markings around the parrots eyes are realistic, or at least as realistic as Swarovski can get.

The hard-shelled little purse isn't the height of practicality, but you can pretty much see that by looking at it. This is for a big night on a big town and almost nothing in between. The 7" handle drop ensures that this pretty birdie stays close at hand, which it really should with a $5,695 price tag. 

The gold leather lined interior is almost as opulent as the exterior, and well-arranged with a simple patch pocket. This is luxury at its most whimsical, coming soon to an opera house near you.
