The Regatta has a casual style, but it's more sophisticated than many of LeSportsac's designs. The cutesy prints the label often employs are replaced with wide horizontal stripes. I like this pretty green and white color scheme, but it's also available in a bolder red and white version if you prefer. The stripes make this rucksack style nylon bag seem a bit more chic.

Its nylon body isn't quite as sophisticated, but it's a smart choice. The material will repel water and withstand harsh coastal elements. It also keeps the price down, which is always a consideration for summer vacationers!

The Regatta's drawstring is a bit fiddly but I appreciate what it brings to this relaxed style. If you'd rather not fuss with it you can always put your everyday items in the external pocket.

I can imagine carrying the Regatta on a sailing vacation around the Maldives or the Caribbean. Of course one look at my budget suggests it's more likely to serve me at my local beach!

Either way, at $78 this summery LeSportsac bag represents great value.

The designer cleverly weaves wicker to create a three-dimensional model of the quirky South American animal. Why? Goodness knows! But the attention to detail is impressive nevertheless!

Two tan leather straps allow us to take this fun animal with us everywhere. A trapdoor-style flap at the armadillo's top allows us up open him up to fill him with our worldy goods.

I can't imagine this armadillo shoulder bag will be easy to manage though. Its structured design won't hug our body like a leather bag would, and our essentials are a bit inaccessible under that flap. The top also doesn't open as widely as I'd like. I expect items to get stuck in the corners.

I also wonder exactly when you'd wear a bag like this. Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj might be able to pull off such a novelty purse on the red carpet, but it'd never work for our business meetings or sophisticated luncheons, would it?

But this Armadillo Shoulder Bag makes a real style statement, which is more than we can say for many bags on the market. It's probably a shade too expensive at $328, but that price does buy us a real original.

The classic flap design and warm beige color give the Le Ti a playful, retro feel. However Joy Gryson modernizes the accessory by softening its edges and adding a practical cross-body strap, rather than the traditional top handle.

This more relaxed silhouette maximizes our storage space and ensures the Le Ti doesn't feel too stuffy. But I'm in two minds about the strap. I appreciate its practicality, but it seems a bit chunky for the rest of the purse. I think if Joy Gryson had scrapped the metal it'd look much cleaner.

The Le Ti is also more practical than most authentic retro designs. It's generously sized and well organized, with plenty of pockets inside and out. Its clever triple compartment design makes staying organized a breeze!

The Le Ti functional design and high quality materials ensure it should become a great everyday accessory. And at an affordable $315.99, it won't break the bank either!

With all those capital letters preceding an exclamation mark, I expected something really exciting from the collection. Instead this purse is pretty pedestrian. Not even the scarf can make this simple ivory accessory interesting. There's something to be said for traditional design, but it's disappointing to see something so mundane bearing the Isaac Mizrahi name.

I expected poor quality leather for the price, but the skin is actually supple and surprisingly soft. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the PVC trim. The glossy accents give the purse an appealing subtle contrast, but they're strangely sticky. I can just imagine it becoming fuzzy if you carry it with a sweater!

It is functional though, with plenty of pockets including a hidden one underneath the flap. The detachable strap also allows us to easily convert it into a clutch. It's slim but well-sized for everyday use.

At $108.50 this bag is a fraction of the price of anything from Isaac Mizrahi's signature line. It's also a lot cheaper than we expect a leather bag to be. But that affordability does little to convince me to invest in this snorefest.

The Bauer's boxy shape is modernized with golden zippered sides and a chic turn-lock clasp. I love the way the hardware pops against the rich red lambskin. This hue is quite daring, but Hype also offers the design in more sedate black and cognac colors. The red's my favorite, but I'm impressed Hype attempts to appease all tastes.

The plainweave lining is hardy, but I'm disappointed that the pockets aren't reinforced with leather. We wouldn't necessarily expect that at this price point, but Hype found the budget to add a leather logo patch inside. Using the material to trim the pockets would have been a much smarter design decision.

The lack of metal feet on the base is also disappointing. The Bauer's designed to suit our everyday needs, but that oversight means it may look banged up before its time.

It feels mean to find fault with a bag costing just $250. That price rarely buys us an accessory made of such luxurious materials. It may not be perfect, but it comes closer than most purses at this price point.

I appreciate the restraint Gustto's shown here. It knows the studded trend won't hang around forever, so it doesn't allow the metal to take over. The studs are small and used sparingly. The finish is almost delicate, a word we rarely use to describe a studded bag. As the Pama isn't showy its looks should endure long after the studded trend is faded.

That's a good thing too, because it's the kind of shoulder bag made for regular use. Its soft brown leather will earn a distinguished patina with wear. It's spacious too, but so well organized that it works for us no matter what we're carrying. The bright white lining makes it easy to see everything that's inside, and as it's made from microsuede it should repel stains.

I also appreciate the range of carrying options. The dual handles are sturdy and long enough for over the shoulder carrying. When the Pama's full though, it'll work better as a cross-body bag. Attach the extra strap for better weight distribution while you're on the go.

Gustto's not a big name label, but that only means we can enjoy its bags for less. At $550, the Pama is a great everyday option.

Admittedly the Harrison is an easy bag to overlook. Its casual slouchy silhouette and deep seams will never inspire handbag envy. And while the leather is plush and buttery soft, in basic black it fails to really excite. But while it doesn't push the envelope, the Harrison is the kind of bag we'll find ourselves reaching for time and time again.

It's a great size for everyday use, large but not so big that it becomes unwieldy. Giani Bernini's unique triple entry design ensures the space feels manageable. The zippered main compartment is sandwiched between two large swagger pouches. The main compartment features a zippered pocket, three open pouches for gadgets, and even a pair of pen loops. We also find more zippered pockets on the outside for the items we want on hand.

For a mere $278 you'll be hard pressed to find any leather bag made with such quality materials, let alone one that's destined to endure for several seasons. Expect to fall a little more in love with the Harrison every time you take it out.

The Ardith's nubbled finish mimics ostrich skin, but it's actually crafted from embossed leather. Embossed leather often looks like the poor cousin of genuine exotic skins, but not here. The Ardith's leather does a great impersonation that's bound to fool a few friends.

The exotic embossing makes this fairly traditional purse seem a bit more modern. The tan color is less contemporary, but it should be resilient to trends and the changing seasons.

The Ardith's major sticking point is likely to be its size. It's so small that it could almost be classed as a mini purse. Carrying a full-sized wallet will leave little space for anything else, so you may need to downsize.

At $278 we're not getting a lot of bag for our dollar, but consider the alternative. A real ostrich purse of this size would certainly push past the four-figure ceiling. If you love the look, the Ardith is an affordable way to get it.

Lacoste has extended its polo shirt inspired L.12.12 Shopper Project line for fall/winter 2012.

The collection's accessories combine petite pique and leather in colors inspired by Lacoste's iconic polos. As its name suggests, shoppers are the collection's centrepieces. There are seven in all with sizes ranging from small to extra large. For the new season, Lacoste has built on the shopper collection and added new shapes including a flat vertical tote bag, a large shoulder bag, and a clutch.

Lacoste International Travel Retail Director Catherine Bonelli says the L.12.12. bags are ideal for travelers, who should appreciate the washable fabrics and affordable prices.

"It takes the Lacoste brand to a new wider consumer audience, and is fabulous for travellers looking for something for themselves or a gift that is minimalistic and very chic," she explained.

Lacoste's new L.12.12 Shopper Project collection will make its debut next month at the Tax Free World Association Asia Pacific Show in Singapore. It will then be rolled out into stores, including its new flagship outlets in Hamburg, Montreal, London, Tokyo, and the soon to be opened Shanghai boutique.

Lacoste isn't a label I usually associate with accessories, but the bold red color and minimalist design of the L.12.12 Shopper pictured has caught my eye. Has it encouraged you to think differently about Lacoste?

This purse doesn't make a strong style statement or bow to trends, but that gives it a timeless appeal that shouldn't be overlooked. Covered chain borders its flap and decorates its seams, emphasizing its lines without dominating the design. Those covered details are mimicked in the shoulder strap which features golden chain woven with complementary leather. This strap is extra versatile, as we can wear it doubled up to make the Nina a shoulder bag, or at its full length to turn the purse into a cross-body.

The Nina's called a mini bag, but I wouldn't let that description scare you off. Personally I'd classify this as a mid-sized purse, with space for holding everything we really need without tempting us to overload. Its pockets are trimmed in more of the leather we see on the outside for extra strength.

The Nina certainly doesn't have a mini price tag. At $498 it's a substantial investment, but one made for several seasons of wear.
