The shopping bag, which is available exclusively to customers of the Abu Dhabi store, is made of elegant metallic gold leather. The luxury skin is embossed with Carolina Herrera's signature CH initials and printed with the words Abu Dhabi. A small Swarovski crystal dotted palm tree charm completes the design. Personally I think the effect is a bit gaudy, but metallic handbags rarely rev me. However the price, 3,420 United Arab Emirates Dirham, or roughly $930 US, is pretty reasonable for a limited edition handbag. What do you think of this rare shopper?

The 310-meter-square space, located at the Abu Dhabi Mall, will carry all of the CH Carolina Herrera collections. The boutique features split glass displays, distinctive dressing rooms, and the images of Carolina and her daughter Carolina Jr. throughout.

The Venezuelan designer said she released her more affordable CH Carolina Herrera diffusion line in Abu Dhabi to introduce Saudi women to her products. She's currently studying the fashion in market in the Middle East and plans to open a signature Carolina Herrera flagship in the region if there's a favorable reaction to her CH Carolina Herrera store.

I was surprised to see Francesco Biasia passing over its usual leather for a more casual fabric. It makes sense though, because the material is a more lightweight choice. That allows us to take advantage of all the space the designer offers, and there is a lot of it.

Frankly this shopper is enormous. Its array of pockets do their best to keep things in order, but I'm not sure anything could keep a space so large free of clutter. A zippered divider may have made the bag more user friendly, but it would have cut the generous main compartment in half. As it's designed it can hold a few purchases along with our everyday essentials.

The handles could stand to be a bit longer, but if you're petite you should be able to sling them over your shoulder. Using them by hand will just be too awkward, especially if you're making use of all that space. A few extra inches would have made the Jeanne that much easier to manage.

It's not the perfect shopper but it is a lovely example. $298 is probably too much to pay for an accessory made of material, but at least we're getting plenty of bag for our dollar.

I'm not talking about those lovely leather handbags we use to hit the mall. Instead it seems the Chinese are gaga for the paper bags stamped with designer logos, the ones ordinarily handed to customers with their designer purchases.

Browsing around leading Chinese shopping site Taobao.com reveals paper shopping bags bearing the Hermes, Chanel, and Burberry logos for between 5 and 40 yuan, or 78c to $6.28US.

Taobao.com vendor Wang Xuesheng says that initially the shoppers were popular amongst traders of counterfeit handbags, who no doubt packaged them with their replica merchandise. However, recently the bags have become popular amongst independent who appear unfazed that the shoppers are fakes.

"Most people buy the bags only for the logo," he explained. "In fact, if you take a close look at the bag, you will easily discover that the material is different from authentic ones."

Apparently people are buying them as an alternative to regular totes, and to hold gifts for friends. I can only imagine the disappointment of those friends when they find there's no designer stash inside the bag!

Knocking off designer shoppers sounds like a nice way to make a few bucks, but Mo Daiqing, a senior analyst with the China E-commerce Research Center reminds would-be counterfeiters that selling fake paper bags is still infringing copyright.

This is one of the weirder trends I've heard. Can you imagine investing in a designer paper bag, whether it's fake or not?

The warm orange-camel colored panel brings personality to the Luster's basic black base. Another label might have brought the orange hue back in the straps or fringed tassel, but DKNY keeps the rest of this purse quite neutral. It might not be as exciting right now, but it ensures the Luster will remain charming once the colorblocked fad has passed.

The functional design is another feature that ensures longevity. This is the kind of purse you'll want to keep using thanks to its spacious dimensions and selection of carry straps. In an ideal world the cross-body strap would be wider, but if you don't overload the satchel it shouldn't dig too deeply into your skin.

At $425 the Luster is well priced, particularly for a bag that so cleverly blends contemporary style with enduring elegance. It looks right on trend now, but its quality and design ensure you'll be just as happy carrying it after a few seasons.

While I'm sure Jacobsen will be tickled pink to see her handiwork on the store's bags, she's also won a far more lucrative prize. She will enjoy free groceries from the market store for the next 12 months.

Jacobsen's design was chosen from more than 800 entries. After making the short list her artwork was selected by the Friends of fresh&easy, the members of Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets' company rewards program. The contest is part of the supermarket's efforts to encourage its customers to shop with recyclable bags. Fresh & Easy's chief customer officer John Burry explained the initiative, commenting that "By offering more attractive and useful reusable bags, we hope customers will be encouraged to use them more and in turn, join us in helping the environment."

The deep blue denim is a much tamer choice than the animal printed synthetics she tends to favor. A giant heart at the center is outlined with black shiny synthetic, and decorated with a smattering of studs. I wouldn't necessarily call this shopper sedate, but it's far less showy than most Betseyville creations.

The Heart-Y Girl looks very basic from the outside, but it's got a few tricks tucked away. The enormous interior is lined with Johnson's signature pink fabric, and kitted out with a pair of gadget pouches and a zippered pocket. Its handles are long and made from more of that soft denim, so they should feel heavenly on our shoulder. The magnetic snap isn't the ideal closure, but it does the job.

I could probably knock this bag up myself if I had a glue gun and a few hours up my sleeve. However for a relatively affordable $78 I hardly think it's worth the trouble!

This shopper is made from a soft woven textile, which is given more personality with the addition of pretty flowers and leaves. The floral appliqué is lovely, although I think it gets lost in this particular color scheme. While there's something to be said for neutrals it seems a shame for the flowers to simply fade into the background.

It's also disappointing to see the shopper's plain back. It's not unusual for budget labels to keep the decorations on the front, but it's still disappointing to see this kind of corner cutting. I didn't need to see the intricate garden we found on the front, but a few carefully positioned blooms would have made the rear a lot more appealing.

This shopper is enormous with enough space for new purchases and everyday essentials. The interior is well organized too, with a large zippered pocket in the center dividing the space into smaller, user-friendly compartments. The flat base makes it easy to pack and unpack, while the straps are just the right length for slinging over your shoulder.

As with all Nine West bags, this shopper isn't luxurious or especially well made. It's here for a good time, not a long one. However its affordable $109 price tag seems reasonable for a bag so practical and as its name suggests, pretty!

Winfrey has long admired the Sydney Shopper; she even named it one of  her Favorite Things during her long-running chat show. However it seems this event was the designer's first chance to meet the former queen of daytime television. She called the opportunity to chat with Oprah about her career "an experience I will never forget," and commented that she was "overwhelmed with emotion" to see first-hand the way Winfrey influenced the thousands of people at the event.

Danielle Nicole has reportedly been working on the limited edition Sydney Shopper tote for the past year, but I'm honestly not sure how she's been spending that time. Any changes seem to be minimal. The brown synthetic may be a little paler, but all of the essential elements are there including the famous reversible design and the attachable coin purse.

Its name seems designed to raise eyebrows. After all, this tote is certainly not a shirt. In fact, it doesn't appear to have any shirt-like qualities at all. But it is a lovely creature all the same. Its creamy leather is delicious, a timeless pastel that is much more interesting than white or ivory. A drawstring cinches in the top, creating soft pleats and a casual versatility.

I've never been the greatest fan of drawstrings. They're fiddly to use, and not very secure. But with a magnetic snap helping the tie out, I've got less to rally against. The pair of closures helps to make the mid-sized interior safe. It's not very large, but I still wish there was more than a single zippered pocket. We'll need to work hard to keep the Shirt clutter free, as it won't do it for us.

At $1265 this shopper is more expensive than any shirt I own, and also any handbag! But if you've got the cash, you could do worse than spending it on a purse with such timeless sophistication.

The shiny gold finish on this shopper makes it difficult to ignore. Quilting ordinarily adds richness to any surface, but here it creates a puffiness that calls to mind winter bomber jackets. It's not meant to be taken too seriously, but it is intended to command attention.

For what it is, I don't mind the finish on this shopper. It's loud and flashy and full of fun. While it's not to my taste, I can appreciate its boldness. I'm less enthusiastic about the black straps, which while long and flat enough to be functional appear tacked on.

Nine West calls the Sky Dive a medium shopper, but it's certainly large enough to carry everything most of us really need, and then some. Its polyester lining is again on the cheap side, but the interior does have pockets in all the right places. And there's a little wristlet inside too, which you could use as a coin purse or even a clutch once the sun goes down.

For $79 we're getting a lot of value from Nine West here, even if we're not getting a lot of class.
