This is a really clever and quirky purse, which shuns traditional materials for a more eco-smart alternative. The pop tops are crocheted together using nylon thread to create a fun, metallic exterior.

I can appreciate the look of this trash turned treasure, but I'm not sure about its use on the wrist strap. I always appreciate a hands-free carry option, and this one does create a cohesive look. But can you imagine how the metal would feel against your bare skin? Choosing a soft organic cotton or hemp would have been just as green, and much more forgiving.

It's rare to find a purse that makes such a definitive style statement for just $23.99 though. If you want to tell the world that you prefer your accessories green, this is an affordable way to do it.

An adorable green frog peeks out from the large front pocket, almost as if he's playing a game of hide and seek. The drab army green canvas leaves a bit to be desired, particularly if it's trying to appeal to junior fashionistas, but the brightly colored frog does its best to liven things up.

Sadly the interior doesn't have any kind of closure, but it is quite well equipped with two interior pockets. I also like the long strap, which allows you to sling the bag across your body or wear it over your shoulder.

This bag is called a messenger, but it really feels more like a tote to me. It's got a very simple shape, without the flap design we typically associate with a messenger. However, it is as relaxed as this style tends to be, so it could easily lend itself to schlepping books to class or sneakers to the gym.

It won't suit any posh occasion, but if you don't take your fashion too seriously this Two's Company bag is a steal at $22.99.

The brand doesn't typically work with woven fibers, and it shows. While labels like Straw Studios easily churn out beach-ready accessories, Two's Company struggles here. The weave is too chunky, resembling a cable-knit jumper rather than a summery purse. The handles which extend to the base only add bulk to an already stocky tote. The color's all wrong for summer too; something lighter may have helped to combat the bulk, but this black shade only adds weight.

As the looks don't impress me, I hoped for something to wow me inside. I was out of luck. This is the simplest of totes, devoid of a lining, clasp, and pockets. You probably won't mind this too much if you intend to make the Seychelles your next beach bag or grocery satchel, but I've seen more stylish bags that can do these same jobs for less cash.

Rather than subtle nautical accents, the Nautikos is upfront with its blue and white color scheme and bold sailboat print. While I often prefer something less obvious than this, the pattern really works here. And considering the budget price, it's an unexpected joy to see the boats emblazoning both front and back. I love the way the pale print is further accented with white leather handles.

The boat print is what really makes this Two's Company. That aside this is a fairly basic tote, simple but classic. It's not the kind of tote that could double as an after-five accessory, or even work if you're lounging on an expensive yacht on the Caribbean. But if you're sailing on your average rig, or lazing by the lake, this will do the job nicely.

While it'd use this to add a little fun to the nine-to-five drudge, I'm sure it'd work just as well out of the office. This is a great go-to tote for romantic picnics, days at the ball game, or afternoons spent hiking in the great outdoors.

This enormous tote seems tailor-made for carrying a towel and string bikini to the beach or pool, but I wouldn't pack it away once winter comes around again. Those generous dimensions make it ideal for carrying your sneakers and spare clothes to the gym, or fresh produce home from the markets.

Whatever you use it for, the hardy combination of nylon and polyester will last for a long time. There's no luxury to it, but it's just what you want in an everyday casual bag.

It is simple though. Don't go expecting fancy linings, closures or a plethora of pockets because you'll be disappointed. But for $19, I'm happy to appreciate what this tote does have and forget about the elements it lacks!

What makes these purses so environmentally friendly? Well, they are made out of a recycled tire. Yes, you heard me right; in a past life these minimalist bags were none other than car tires! It is hard to believe, but as soon as you touch the Re-Tire-D (geddit?!) clutch you realize that it is indeed made from stitched, tasseled and printed rubber, albeit far more fashionably that you would ever have considered possible!

Of course, we are no stranger to gimmicky bags made from all sorts of unusual materials. If you want peculiar, the handbag market can deliver! Thankfully this recycled tire purse does manage to achieve a certain level of classiness, and the basic design means that it shouldn't be a flash in the pan. Many people won't like the texture, but at least you know that you can stand on it in a lightening storm!

All in all this is a silly yet endearing clutch, which would work as a great gift. The tire print and elegant typography work well to make it slightly more grown-up, and this could make a fashion statement when teamed with studs and drama!
