FEED and Tory Burch have joined forces with high end Canadian department store Holt Renfrew to create a limited edition tote bag. A portion of sales from the $50 tote, available exclusively through Holt Renfrew stores, will be distributed amongst the FEED and Tory Burch Foundations.

This is a true collaborative effort, with FEED's signature burlap fabric married with Tory Burch's favorite neon colors. The logos of both companies are stencilled on to each tote.

It's always a little disappointing when we see companies donate an undisclosed portion of the profits to charity, rather than our entire contribution. However perhaps we can take comfort in Holt Renfrew's goals. The retailer hopes to raise $100,000 through the fundraising initiative. The FEED Foundation's share will buy 500,000 meals for children in need. The remaining $50,000 will fund microfinancing schemes and mentoring programs to empower women and children in developing communities through the Tory Burch Foundation.

The FEED and Tory Burch bags will be available for $50 from the Holt Renfrew website from April 30 before being rolled out to the Canadian stores on May 10. Tory Burch will make a special appearance at Holt Renfrew's Toronto flagship store on Bloor Street at 10 am on May 10 to celebrate the launch.

Tory Burch doesn't reinvent the wheel here, but she's got all the classic elements needed to make a great summer tote. She's opted for canvas rather than her usual leather, which makes it very hardy and lightweight. Brown leather accents help dress up the striped fabric body.

I wish Tory Burch had used more of that leather on the handles, rather than the thick rope she's employed though. The natural fiber enhances the Channing's nautical vibe, but it feels harsh on bare hands. And as the handles are so short, holding them in our palms is really our only option. That's disappointing for a bag so large, as it could get weighty if we take advantage of all that space.

At least Tory Burch has equipped the Channing with a few functional features. All too often canvas totes are minimalist to the point of being unmanageable, but not this one. With a pair of slip pockets and a zippered pouch, we should be able to keep our items in order whether we're on the beach or pounding the pavement.

Practical features aren't enough to justify the Channing's ridiculous price though. Designers really have no business charging any more than $100 for canvas purses. At $250, it seems we're paying for Tory Burch's name rather than her tote.

Its versatility makes the Robinson's relatively affordable $375 seem like even more of a bargain. Indulge in this bordeaux version or basic black.

This sophisticated make-up purse is immediately identifiable as one of the American designer's creations. Its lines are clean, and its logo medallion stands proudly against the purse. Her fans may be disappointed that leather only borders the branding, but it actually makes a lot of sense. By choosing coated canvas rather than a more luxurious fabric Tory Burch has ensured that make-up stains can be easily wiped away.

The colorblocked finish makes the canvas seem much more appealing. The top has the fabric's natural ivory tone, while the base has a more playful hue. It's pink in this instance, but we could also choose yellow or turquoise.

The Idina's interior is very simple. What you see is what you get. I wish there were little pockets or elasticized loops to keep our make-up must haves in order, but for this price I wouldn't necessarily expect it.

Given its basic materials and basic design though, I can't help thinking Tory Burch is charging a premium for her name. $75 isn't expensive for the average Tory Burch purse, but it's a bit steep for one that will spend most of its life inside a larger tote.

This is the kind of the handbag that every girl needs in their wardrobe. It's sedate enough to suit any situation, its color ensures it works easily with any outfit, and it's large enough to hold anything you ever want to step out with. It's not all that exciting, but you can rely on it to serve you well season after season.

While it might not inspire handbag envy, there's a lot to like about it. Its leather is buttery and soft, and its polished golden clasp striking. It's also so well made that we feel pampered when we carry it.

It's got those little touches that scream high-end accessory, including protective metal feet on the base, leather trim around the interior pocket, and a range of carrying options. I expect those perks in a bag costing four-figures, but they seem like a real luxury here.

At $525 the Norah is great value. You may be tempted to indulge in something more fashion forward, but for longevity this is a much smarter proposition.

Rattan is less luxurious than the materials Burch usually plays with, but it's perfect for this warm weather we've all been enjoying. The geometric wicker weave makes this rattan feel a bit more sophisticated than it normally does, but there's no escaping that this is a casual material. I think that works well for this time of year though, as we're more likely to be enjoying pool parties and beach barbeques than the posh dos of December.

The leather flap with its Tory Burch logo stamps its designer pedigree, and gives the clutch some individual personality. I think this cheery Sake Gold shade is perfect for the season, but we can also choose it in black, gold, silver, and poppy red.

I'm not ordinarily a fan of logos, but for every rule there's always an exception. As Burch's branding is so abstract, I think she gets away with it. It acts as an aesthetic element as much as it does advertising, and elevates what might have otherwise been a relatively dull design.

This rattan clutch is large but basic, with only a small and insignificant slip pocket inside. Pouches like this are really token gestures, as they're to small to hold anything of substance, but we've never expected practicality from a clutch purse. While I'm griping, the lack of shoulder strap is also disappointing. No one wants to spend an evening holding onto a handbag, no matter how pretty it is.

At $275 this clutch costs more than I'd expect to pay for a rattan purse, but its seasonal charm might just sway anyone with the cash to spare.

There aren't many lines that get faux snakeskin right. Honestly, I only really like the way Michael Kors does it. Until now. This is a great looking adaptation of snakeskin. The texture is really believable, and the black and gold combination is fabulous.

The shape of this bag is also perfectly chosen. It's nice and small, perfect to sling over your shoulder or across the body. The pouch shape is unique, given the prevalence of boxier bags and slouchy hobos, and I like it quite a lot. Too bad they put that terribly giant logo on the front of it.

Honestly, it ruins the whole bag for me. The Amanda is just too small and well designed to be overburdened by that huge monstrosity. If it was removable, at $375, I'd say this bag was a steal. But as it stands, you couldn't pay me to carry it.

Tory Burch is the queen of preppy chic. From the Upper East Side to the Palm Beaches, no one does it like her. She's also managed to garner a significant crossover audience by adding in a few more street smart styles. This Tory turn-lock shoulder bag, however, is pure preppy goodness.

Blue chambray makes me think of all those button down shirts that were so popular in the 1980s. But other than the effect of the leather, there's nothing retro about the Tory. It's so timeless that I would be hard-pressed to place it in any particular decade. In any case, the chambray effect leather is a genius choice; it has the crisp look of cotton with the durability of leather.

The shape of the Tory is so clean and unmuddied. It's really hard to find any fault with its design. Actually, even though it's completely out of keeping with my own personal taste, I just can't seem to find anything wrong with it. The fresh lines are reinforced by the understated seaming, and the Burch logo gives the bag an almost nautical look.

$425 is great price to pay for a bag that can't be dated. This is definitely one for the ages, folks.

This hobo doesn't have much in common with the hippie dippy bags the flower children carry. It's got a subtle slouch to it, but you'll find that it in most bags using quality leather. The long, rounded shape has more in common with bucket bags than hobos too, so the name is a bit confusing.

Personally I don't mind what a bag's called when it looks this stylish. Tory Burch has saved its black leather from appearing bland by giving it a chic speckled finish. This deep skin makes sure its gunmetal chain accents really pop.

The Natalya is gathered around the top as if it a drawstring was at work, but it actually closes with a magnetic clasp. It's an inspired touch, which gives us that casual look without the fuss. The snap will make it much easier to get to your phone when it rings!

Don't be deterred by Tory Burch's labeling of this bag as small; it's certainly big enough to carry everything you need on a daily basis and then some. It may not fit in with the other hobos on the block, but with its own sense of style I think the Natalya's a great buy at $550.
