The Dusk shoulder bag is a great example of the versatile and affordable accessories the label now offers.

The Dusk isn't a pioneer by any means, but it's a lovely homage to bohemian style. Its drawstring closure might be a bit fiddly to manage, but I love the way it gathers in the top, creating a soft, casual silhouette. Its long braided tie is also ideal for the Dusk's hippie-chic image. The merlot color won't change the world but it's a fresh alternative to brown or burgundy. It's somewhere in between the two more traditional hues, yet it feels more unusual than either one.

The Dusk's generous dimensions are perfect for holding most things we need, and probably a few extras besides. Such a slouchy shape is never easy to keep organized, but there's an array of interior pockets on hand to help us out. I also appreciate the long shoulder strap, which is perfect for grabbing as we're rushing out the door.

The Dusk is made from the sort of vinyl that will never pass for real leather. It's too thin, and a little too shiny. But that compromise helps Roxy price this shoulder bag at just $44. It won't have the longevity of a leather bag, but perhaps when it falls apart you can afford an upgrade!

I appreciate the choice Roxy provides here. There's this pink design for the girly girls, more conservative black and sandstone alternatives and even a wild paisley print. With that many alternatives there should be one to suit everyone, or at least everyone who likes backpacks.

While the accessory style has become high class thanks to The Row's $39, 000 version, it's still heavily associated with our school days. This one does nothing to bust our preconceptions. It's very traditional, and doesn't attempt to try anything too radical.

It is a good example of a backpack though. I particularly like the cotton canvas material, which has been heavily washed for maximum softness. Its luxuriously large so there's space for carrying several textbooks, a laptop, and other essentials.

While it's good, it's not great though. For $48 we probably wouldn't expect it to be. Its straps can't be adjusted to any significant length, and one customer even reported that theirs broke quickly. That old saying that you get what you pay for might hold true here.

This looks like a bag that puts practicality first. An array of pockets dominates the finish, leaving little room for stylish accents. I wish Roxy had used more creativity when integrating these pockets into the design, but that's not my biggest concern. More problematic is that they're not as practical as they first appear. By including so many exterior pockets, Roxy's had to make each one smaller than we'd like. Paring things back might not have made quite the same statement, but it would have been a lot smarter.

It might not live up to its image, but there's still a bit to like about the Still Alive. It's made from vinyl, as so many Roxy bags are, but its weathered finish gives the manmade skin a soft feel and sexy worn in appearance. Its interior is slim but spacious, so long as you don't want to carry a big thick novel or other chunky items. I also really like the woven cotton web strap, which is tough and comfortable to carry.

But perhaps the Still Alive's greatest selling point is its price. $39.50 doesn't buy you a lot in the world of fashion, but it will buy this cross-body bag.

Such a wide handbag probably deserves more than a magnetic snap for real security, but at least there's a zippered pocket inside. That's large enough to keep valuables safe while you're spending time in the surf.

It's hard to find fault with a bag costing just $32. That's a steal, even if this tote will spend half the year in a closet!

Labels set themselves up for failure when they choose such ambitious names for their bags. If you promise us spice, you'd better deliver it! However this hobo is just like so many others with its color-by-numbers approach. Crescent shape, check. Slouchy silhouette, check. Casual boho vibe, check and check. And yawn. There's nothing wrong with a company taking a traditional approach to design, but when it's paired with such a glowing name we're left feeling underwhelmed.

The Spicy certainly isn't a bad bag. It's made of synthetic, as we'd expect at this price point, but its pebbled treatment makes it a pretty good leather mimic. It's thin and not incredibly soft, but from a distance only discerning fashionistas would know the difference. The wrapped handles are also quite stylish, as well as being pretty functional.

The Spicy's interior has plenty of space, but its single zippered pocket is inadequate for keeping such a large area organized. I hope you know how to keep your items in order, because this bag won't help you out.

However we never expect the world for $39.50, so those little design niggles are par for the course. But considering its name, I don't think it's too demanding to expect a bit more sizzle from this Roxy hobo.

This Sweet Home hobo is another Roxy purse that begs to be taken away from the shore.

With its generous dimensions and buckled front pockets, this is a hobo that puts practicality first. It's stylish enough, but it doesn't have that extra special something to make us weak at the knees. In a thick, plush leather I might be swooning, but the crinkled synthetic is just alright. For a bargain $42 though, just alright is just fine with me.

What really impresses me about the Sweet Home is the way it works for us. Rather than a traditional soft crescent shape, Roxy's made this hobo quite boxy and structured. This shape maximizes storage space, and also makes the purse much easier to manage. Inside there are plenty of pockets, and while they're not trimmed for strength they'll help us stay organized.

The grommet studded strap is also completely adjustable, so we can convert this hobo from a shoulder bag to a cross-body to suit our needs.

Roxy skimps on the details with the Sweet Home, but I can still see real value for our dollar. If you're looking for an affordable everyday handbag that will stay in vogue as long as its materials hold up, you may have met the one.

Perhaps it's time that we were no longer surprised by Roxy's accessory efforts. In recent years the brand has convincingly made the leap from surf label to fashion force, so it's time we silenced those internal critics once and for all. It's still not really mastered cutting edge designs, but its purses are generally good looking and functional, not to mention appropriate once summer ends.

Given its budget $42 price tag, we wouldn't expect leather here. But we also wouldn't expect a synthetic of such quality. Its weathered finish is really striking, particularly in this olive shade. It's much paler than many olive greens and a little grayer too. In fact, it's almost a metallic shade, although it's toned down just enough for everyday use.

The Lightning's shape doesn't excite me, but it's very smart considering this sling bag's everyday application. It's deep enough to carry everything you could want it to, and its flat base will help it sit up once it's set down. The single strap can be slung casually and comfortably over your shoulder or across your body for a more relaxed look.

I'm not completely wowed by the Lightning, but it's hard not to be impressed by it, especially considering its very reasonable bottom line.

When once it was the go to brand for beach-loving babes, these days its accessories are ideal for any fashionista on a budget. While the label's bags are affordable, the label rarely skimps on style. Roxy keeps the price down to just $46 by using synthetic rather than genuine leather, but that's not altogether a bad thing. The leatherette has a gorgeous weathered look to it, so it's much more appealing than your average synthetic. The casual finish works with the hobo's characteristic slouch to make the Delight an ideal everyday bag.

The side of the Delight is accented with a long tie. You could leave it hanging as pictured for a relaxed feel, or create a bow for a more feminine feature. I like that versatility. All too often bows are pinned tightly in place, but with the Delight we can enjoy two separate looks in the one bag.

Surprisingly considering the prices it charges, Roxy never lets us down when it comes to the important stuff. This Delight bag is has enough space for everything we really want to carry, and the pockets we need to stay organized. Sure we miss out on the trim around the pockets and a luxe lining, but for this price I expect that kind of corner cutting.

This beige colored Delight is right on trend but it's not our only option. Roxy also makes this bag in black, khaki green, and a pretty pinky orange shade. What a delight!

There are a couple of Sumatras to choose from. My favorite is this Tarmac bag, with its modern floral print. I love the way its black blooms help to make the gray jersey fabric a bit more feminine. I love the use of jersey, which makes the tote lightweight and comfortable to carry. It's also got more give in it than leather, so overstuffing it is practically invited. Considering its size I can imagine it making a perfect beach bag during summer, but its collection of interior pockets suit carrying small items as well. This helps the Sumatra work as an everyday bag, rather than one specifically for carrying big, bulky items.

There's a lot to like, not least of which is the price. At just $36 this tote is cheap and cheerful.

The label ensures it's desirable all year round with cute handbags like this Flutter hobo.

It's taken Roxy some time to find its feet as a stylish accessories label, but I'm glad it has. This hobo gets the balance right, with a clean design and edgy chain accents. On a more detailed bag those chains could look messy, but when paired with such a simple style they really shine.

The delicate chains take center stage, but there are a few more details which I love. The synthetic body may not have the luxury appeal of leather, but its relaxed crinkle texture is gorgeous. I also like the contrast of the exposed black backing of the zippered pocket, which really pops against the orange or white synthetic.

Not that the Flutter's appeal is strictly surface. The interior is large but well appointed with a zippered pocket and two open ones for taking care of gadgets. The fabric lining feels a bit cheap, but at least in black any stains won't show.

This Roxy hobo is both cheerful and cheap at $40.
