This dome satchel is far too casual for royalty, and the materials frankly inferior. A purse fit for Cleopatra would surely use real crocodiles from the Nile rather than this glossy embossed synthetic. The manmade fabric does keep the price down, but since when would the Queen of Egypt bother pinching pennies?

Necessary Objects really sets itself up for scorn here. The Cleopatra isn't a bad handbag, but it's not one of the label's best. The bag might cost just $60, but the shiny fabric makes it look even cheaper. The shape, with its uniquely curved top and slouchy body, does try to take some risks. However, I'm not convinced by the silhouette.

Still, this bag does everything you could ask of it. It's a generous number, with plenty of pockets inside to make organization easy. The straps are long enough for slinging over your shoulder, and the colors conservative enough to work with any wardrobe.

You might not look royal carrying it, but the Cleopatra is an affordable option for regular gals.

Like the Kate Spade Austin Small Coal Tote, this Necessary Objects tote seems to defy my predetermined stereotype of woven bags being mostly appropriate for the warmer seasons.

Funnily enough, this woven handbag also has the name Austin in the title. The Necessary Objects Steve Austin tote might not be made from vinyl and yarn like the Kate Spade bag, but it is constructed using a synthetic leather material.

That manmade element keeps the price down significantly. Although you won't be getting top-notch quality, it's hard not to consider this handbag a great option when it only costs $54. Measuring at nearly twenty inches wide, that's a great bargain for when size is important but price is an issue.

The Steve Austin tote is also available in black, brown, and red versions in addition to this shiny pewter color. The metallic options shown here is a fun choice, especially for the holidays. Of course, it's not the style of bag you'd carry to a party, but it could be a festive way to tote around your items as you travel this winter.

Once a crescent-shaped slouchy symbol of bohemian bliss, now it seems that anything goes!

The Charleze calls itself a hobo, but it's definitely not hippie-chic. There's a slightly relaxed feel, but this structured synthetic bag with its platform base has none of the slouch we expect from a hobo. The shape is more typical of a bucket bag than a crescent-shaped hobo too. These unexpected features make the Charleze look a lot more sophisticated and versatile. While traditional hobos suit maxi-dresses and casual music festival garb, this would look at home with a winter trench or even your office power suit!

Necessary Objects shows a little personality inside with its fun hand-drawn fashion lining. There's not a lot of personality shown when it comes to the design though. The zip and slip pockets are perfectly adequate, but they're nothing to rave about.

It might look uptown cool, but the Charleze is actually made from synthetic. The price reflects that, with this Necessary Objects hobo clocking in at $68. The pewter version has a glamorous charm, but I prefer the wintery appeal of this red bag. Red's almost regarded as a neutral now, so this tone promises to be more versatile than you'd first think.

If your salary won't stretch to accommodate authentic snakeskin or crocodile, this embossed Necessary Objects clutch is a charming substitute.

Synthetic isn't the most opulent material, but I love the way it's been used here. I've seen embossed leather look far less convincing. The combination of snake and croc scales, not to mention mattes and metallics, could easily look tacky. But the complementary colors save it, creating interest without overwhelming. This olive green, pewter, and silver purse is my favorite, but there are a few more combos if this one doesn't suit.

Pop open the magnetic snap to reveal the playful spotted fabric lining. It's a fairly basic space, but its length is worth mentioning. This allows you to carry a little more than most clutches might, although bulky items are definitely out. You probably won't need your wallet though with a slip pocket tailor-made for carrying your cards. Add a small coin purse and you're good to go.

I'd love to see a shoulder strap for those long nights out, but I'm not surprised there isn't one. Brands can't give us the world for a mere $25 after all.

When we're talking about exotic skins like python and crocodile, it's a guarantee that the texture will be embossed or created.

That's why it will probably be no surprise to anyone that this $42 clutch from Necessary Objects is entirely synthetic. What might be unexpected, though, is the amount of faux textures that this one little clutch contains.

I can pick out at least three separate embossed exotic skins on the Rocco Clutch. Snakeskins and croc take on individual roles each in their own color. This version of the clutch features the textures in two distinct colors of blue with dark brown trim. The blend of tones is appealing but also helps to bring together three different voices in the skins, which could otherwise be a disaster.

The handbag has an optional chain and synthetic strap that can be tucked inside when not in use. Personally, I dislike the shiny silver chain link next to the already busy surface of the clutch, but there are times when it would come in handy.
