It's a trend that helps girls on a budget attain a piece of their favorite label, but not one that offers us real value for money. This Palazzo Canvas Tote from Moschino is yet another overpriced canvas accessory.

It's not all bad. The simple sketch of the grand Love Moschino manor is quite charming, especially with the pop of orange at its door. I also love the way Moschino has picked up the orange hue with the patent leather base. This hardy material is a smart choice, as it should last longer than canvas. However it's a shame Moschino hasn't protected it with any metal feet.

The spacious interior is better organized than your average canvas tote compartment, with a zippered envelope running down the center. There are also practical pockets in the side wall, which are trimmed with more patent leather to help them last.

While the splashes of leather help to justify the costs, it's a shame that they're hidden away. On the surface this just looks like so many canvas totes, and I think that's too ordinary to pay $210 for, don't you?

Let's get one thing out of the way first. Like everything from the Cheap & Chic line, it is far from cheap. At a little over $720, we're not seeing a lot of bag for our dollar. When something is advertised as cheap, it puts a bad taste in our mouth when it isn't. However at least what we do get it of exceptional quality.

I love the sexy gloss of the patent red finish, and the way it clashes delightfully with the soft black suede corsage. This color combination is bold and delightfully sinful. By using black for the bloom Moschino's also ensured this mini purse doesn't look too girly. It's for ladies who love retro fashions rather than those who dress in head to toe pink.

As it's a mini bag we don't get a lot of space, but with two main compartments and a slip pocket we should be able to keep what we are carrying in order. The buckled strap is also removable so we can leave it at home and carry the purse like a clutch.

Perhaps it's that versatility, and perhaps it's the shoulder bag's retro good looks that's won me over. Whatever it is, this pint sized purse is tempting me!

Ordinarily fabric bags look so, well, ordinary, so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Its body is like so many canvas totes, although its psychedelic inspired Love Moschino logo gives it a bit of personality. But it's the carry straps that really elevate this handbag for me. They're much more substantial than the handles we typically see on fabric handbags, and the Print-A-Porter looks much classier for it. The loosely braided handles are a stylish way to carry this bag over your shoulder, but if you've got a distance to travel you may prefer to add the longer cross-body strap.

The carry straps aren't the only area where Moschino has gone the extra mile. Metal feet are an unexpected but welcome touch, as they'll ensure the pale fabric doesn't become dirty when it's set down. The fully lined interior is also luxurious, although it could use a few more pockets.

I always hesitate to spend more than $100 on a fabric handbag, but Moschino has certainly added enough extras to tempt me with this $270 shoulder bag.

This tote certainly isn't subtle. The shiny red outlined hearts that cover this tote are charming but probably only appropriate for the most creative of workplace environments. More of that red patent leather forms the trim and handles, clashing delightfully with the deep teal leather. It's vibrant and colorful, lots of fun but perhaps not very versatile.

Cotton fabric in that same bright color lines the generously sized interior. This really is a big bag, and that only makes the loud exterior more noticeable. On the plus side though it ensures we never have to leave anything we want behind. The mix of open and zip pockets is stock standard, but they do the job. I'd prefer a zipper on a bag this wide rather than the magnetic snap though; you'll need to watch to make sure nothing slips out of the sides.

I'm not sure I'd get enough wear from this tote to justify its substantial $480 price tag, but boy I'd like to try!

The name comes not from a lot of color and flash, but the dramatic waves of ruched leather. These tiny pleats are held in place by small studs along the top of the bag. I've never seen studs used in this way, sparingly and with almost a practical purpose rather than as a decorative feature to add edge.

The gentle pleats are something new but beneath it all this really is a classic hobo, with a crescent shape and relaxed slouch. Its base is a bit flatter, which should make packing and unpacking it a bit easier, but its lack of structure will never make it completely user-friendly. But the interior does feel luxurious, with plenty of space and a sumptuous satin lining. A long shoulder strap helps to complete this versatile, leather bag.

This is a bag that could easily work for any occasion, in a fashionable office environment or on weekends off. But it's certainly not as affordable as we might expect from a line called Cheap & Chic. I'm sure even the most extravagant of spenders would never call $945 cheap.

This is Garance Doré's debut advertising campaign.

Using Doré, rather than an established fashion ad photographer, definitely gives these commercials a fresh feel. There's a spontaneous energy about them, almost as if the photographer snapped passers-by rather than setting up shots with real models.

It also doesn't hurt that the accessories and apparel items aren't half bad either. I love the neutral Milanese cityscapes we see here, which add movement without distracting us from the fashions. These items come from the new Rossella collection, which is named after Moschino's creative director Rossella Jardini. It was a meeting of the minds for Doré and Jardini, who spent time at Jardini's apartment after the shoot wrapped.

"I immediately liked her refined style and her Italian humour," Doré said of Jardini in her blog. "I loved the mix of elegance and sense of humour that can only be found in Rossella's universe."

Congratulations to Moschino for taking a risk rather than using the same old snappers. It looks like the decision is already paying dividends.

The name comes from the crackly texture of its metallic red goatskin body. The surface is bold and glamorous, and certainly not for the faint hearted. You'll need to be careful about what you wear this with, as it really does deserve to be the star of the show.

Moschino knows this skin needs little competition, so it keeps the tote's design clean and simple. There are no further embellishments, and the gently curved top is the only deviation from the traditional tote shape.

The interior is just as luxurious as the outside, with ample space and opulent red satin lining. I love the attention to detail; the zippered pocket is double stitched for strength, and equipped with an adorable golden heart-shaped pull.

This is a purse that feels as luxurious as its price tag suggests. Many of us may balk at spending more than a thousand dollars on such a simply designed tote, but I'd still love this glitzy bag on my arm!

This Moschino collection's name tends to be a little misleading, but right now with the post-Christmas sales you can snag this cute purse for under $400. It's still not exactly cheap, but it's a lot more affordable than the regular retail price!

Now, I can understand why the color alone won't be enough to convince some people to love this bag. This Moschino tote is actually quite spacious, shaped as it is like some sort of cylindrical bowler. This means that it looks elegant from the side, whilst simultaneously fitting in a fair amount of belongings. You do, of course, also get the added bonus of exterior and interior pockets, perfect for girls who want to be organized.

If you are feeling gleeful, then this pricey Cheap and Chic ruffled shoulder bag will probably suit your mood perfectly, combining sophisticated leather with funky nylon and having lots of fun doing so!
