Would I be going too far to call this bag aesthetically deficient? I'm not sure. In any case, the material is the first thing that catches the eye, and that's not a compliment. Okay, the seagrass weave that makes up most of the bag is actually kind of great, although the pattern isn't particularly interesting. It's just that the bright orange PVC looks just like what it is: cheap plastic. And I don't know about you, but I find that very distracting.

The underthought design of the bag is also a problem. The shape is cute and classic enough, but the lines just don't match up. The top flap isn't actually wide enough to cover the opening of the bag, which means that anything small or heavy is going to be lost forever if you lean left or right.

The idea of making an affordable cute woven summer bag that you can sling across your body is a great one, but this one misses the mark on everything but affordability. I can think of a lot of other things to spend $160 on in the summertime.

Alice Dellal seems to be the model of the moment. A month after she was confirmed as the new face of Chanel's Boy bags it seems she's also fronting the spring/summer 2012 advertising campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The British socialite and musician is well known for half-shaved head and punk rock style. Marc Jacobs himself handpicked Dellal to star alongside Erik Andersson in the Juergen Teller snapped commercials.

While Dellal's edgy attitude is preserved, the commercials see her wearing more feminine apparel and accessories than usual. I can picture her carrying the black pouch purses, but I never imagined I'd see Dellal wearing so many colors! The vibrant dress, skirt, and anklestrap shoes are a real departure from the jeans and Doc Martens we usually see Dellal wearing, but I guess that's what modeling is all about!

I really like the balance between Marc Jacob’s modern feminism and Alice Dellal's much grungier look. While she's been primped and preened, she hasn't lost that grittiness that makes her such a refreshing model.

To land so many high profile campaigns in such a short space of time shows that Alice Dellal's star is definitely on the rise. What do you think of her edgy image?

Such a saccharine purse won't appeal to everyone, but I love its sugary pink leather. The golden bird buckle is perhaps a step too far, but it really suits this purse's whimsical design. The hue and details are polarizing, but the very best fashion always takes risks.

I think those gambles pay off because they're anchored by such quality. The leather is first class, and the design practical. It's fairly small but that's not unusual for a cross-body purse. While storage space is limited, those petite dimensions make carrying much more comfortable than a bulkier design. That vivid pink is also much easier to stomach on a smaller canvas.

The Petal to the Metal is a bag made for girls who've never completely grown up. I can't imagine it becoming the everyday accessory of any adult, but for $246 it's cheap enough to indulge in anyway. For that price it'll happily sit in our wardrobes, just waiting for those times our moods need lifting!

The source said that negations between LVMH's CEO Bernard Arnault, Dior's president Sidney Toledano, and Jacobs disintegrated over money matters and the restructuring of Jacobs' team. Jacobs reportedly wanted to take his Louis Vuitton crew to Dior and "transfer the aesthetic from one house to another." However as Phoebe Philo was unwilling to leave Celine to replace Jacobs at Dior, it would have left a gaping hole at the lucrative Louis Vuitton label.

Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, and even Tom Ford have been bandied about as the latest possible replacements for John Galliano, but honestly we're all still in the dark and playing the guessing game. Perhaps this latest turn of events will see temporary replacement Bill Gaytten staying at the helm for a while longer, although his collections have faced such widespread criticism that this doesn't seem a preferable option.

I’m sure we're all getting a bit tired of the speculation without confirmation, but it seems we'll have to be patient for a little while longer!

The Karlie's fresh spring green color initially turned my head. Marc Jacobs calls it lime, but I don't think that description does it justice. It doesn't have that acidic citrus hue to it, and the color's much sweeter for it. It's also much more versatile. While lime assaults the senses this green is playful but still pleasant.

The Karlie is a modern version of the traditional flap-over purse. Its silhouette is sumptuously slouchy, emphasizing the quality of the leather and giving it a versatile day to night appeal. It's relaxed enough to be casual, but also made from the kind of quality materials that never look out of place.

Adding to the versatility is that chain and leather strap, which can be removed if you prefer to carry the Karlie as a clutch. I'd probably leave it on much of the time as it makes this sizable purse much easier to manage, but a few carrying options are always appreciated.

At $258 the Karlie is relatively affordable, so you needn't worry about how easily green can work with your wardrobe. If you're still concerned though you can always opt for the more predictable and boring beige.

Just like the little black dress, the mid-sized black bag is a wardrobe essential. This House of Marc satchel fits the bill, with its clean lines and gently grained black leather. The golden hardware makes the satchel feel richer, and gives it some individuality. I really like the hexagonal studs on the straps, and the turn-lock closures on the side pockets. I probably could have done without the nameplate, as it really interrupts the design, but it's small enough that I can forgive it.

The House of Marc satchel isn't enormous, but it should be adequate for holding all the things we really need. Personally I find carrying a bag on the smaller side to be a plus, as I'm not tempted to fill it with items that will only weigh me down. And with less space taken up with clutter, it's easier to lay your hand on the things you need.

This satchel's already enticing, but the price is the clincher. At $498, this Marc Jacobs bag is very affordable considering the years of faithful service it promises.

Marc Jacobs Eugenie bags haven't exactly been some of my favorites. They have sort of a baroque charm that just doesn't appeal to me, personally. But this classic black quilted version is really ideal.

What can I say about quilted black leather that hasn't already been said? Nothing, really, but the diamond pattern on the Eugenie does seem particularly posh. The double stitching really shows off the high quality.

The simple design shows off the craftsmanship and makes the Eugenie a take everywhere bag. I'm not always into clutches by day, but this is one that could work for almost any occasion with ease. The flap front is actually a pocket, so if you wanted to carry it as a magazine-style portfolio, that would work, too.

$495 is definitely not a bad price to pay for a simple, elegant bag that will take you through decades of fashion changes with comfort.

The two-tone leather on this bag is totally ideal. The combination of brown and tan is a classic one, and here the contrast is textural as well. The exaggerated grain of the darker brown is enhanced by the smoothness of the tan detailing.

The Bowery is basically a bowler, but it's not like any bowler I've ever seen before. It's preppy and posh, but with a little sporty flavor. The lack of embellishment shows off the great lines and materials. This would make a great daily bag for a conservative woman who wants a hipper look or for a hipster chick looking to add a little bit of preppy chic.

$1,195 seems pretty low considering the usual price tag of Jacob's bags, and this is a pretty fabulous one, so I vote yes.
