It's not that there's anything wrong with the Annabelle. Its pale signature print is a subtle and inoffensive way to brand the bag. Its trim and handles are made from real leather, and its shape a true classic. But goodness it's boring.

It's the right size for everyday use, not too big and not too small as Goldilocks might have said. Its interior is well appointed with an array of pockets, and there's another one on the outside for items we need on hand. There's even a cute removable change purse inside, which could double as a clutch. A sunken zip keeps that pouch and our other goodies safe and secure. It's even got metal feet to protect its base, which is virtually unheard of at this price point.

The Annabelle has an awful lot going for it, not least of which is its $75 price tag. But it's got no flair, no style, no razzamatazz, and no pizzazz. With that elusive X factor missing, this Giani Bernini tote is really a hard sell.

The name seems to suggest that this handbag is all our woven straw dreams come true. That could be overstating the point, but I do appreciate what Giani Bernini's done with this accessory staple here. The blue colored straw appears a bit more refined than a natural toned fiber would, and the brown leatherette trim and handles add serious style. Fashion snobs might crave real leather, but used so sparingly I don't think we notice a difference. Except in the hip pocket, of course. If this purse did employ real leather, we'd never score it for $75!

Giani Bernini might have skimped a little on the materials, but it doesn't cut any practical corners. I was impressed to see a central pocket dividing the mid-sized interior into three user-friendly sections. Several more organizational pouches line the inner walls, and there's another zippered pocket on the shopper's rear. This one will sit snugly against your body for a little extra security.

Who says you can't wear straw after summer? This shopper's style makes it perfect for carrying into fall and beyond.

Most of its accessories are rendered in classic browns or blacks, so I was surprised to see the label playing with color with the release of this duffle bag. And with spring well and truly sprung, it's not a moment too soon!

This duffle isn't the height of fashion, but I don't think it needs to be. Its floral print is charming, and its canvas body durable. Its looks are a bit dated so you probably wouldn't to use it as an everyday bag, but it's so large that it'd probably be more at home as a weekender anyway. And as a bag for carrying your vacation essentials, it performs well.

The generous interior is made a bit more user-friendly with a large zippered pocket, detachable coin purse, and a whopping five slip pouches. Add the zippered and snap pockets outside, and you've got a space for all of those small items that tend to get swallowed up in a bag of this size.

We've also got a few carrying options. Use the short handles when you're moving your bag from the hire car to the hotel lobby, and then add the longer, adjustable strap when you're wading through the airport.

And then there's the price, a very affordable $85. That price doesn't buy us real leather trim or fashion forward style, but I think we see value for our money.

But Giani Bernini has always preferred to attract us with practical perks rather than fashion forward looks. And attract us he does here, with a design that makes the most of this belt bag's small stature. The pair of secure front pockets is matched with a wallet style interior. There's a pocket for bills and even six slots for your license and credit cards.

Rather than a purse to impress, this belt bag is a practical wardrobe addition. I imagine it'd be great for travelers out for a day of sightseeing, or even a city girl staying at home and running errands. What it lacks in wow factor it makes up for with smart styling.

While I'm dubious when the high-end labels feed us that line, I'm even less convinced when designers like Giani Bernini jump on the bandwagon.

With its new age name, I expected something a lot more boho-chic from the Twin Star Sign handbag. Instead it's a signature print bore, with interlocking letters and drab canvas finish. The cranberry leather trim might have added a little something special to a different purse, but this festive shade simply looks out of place here.

It's a shame because the interior is so appealing. It's not as big as many fashionable bags, but Giani Bernini has always cared more about remaining classic. There's plenty of space for the essentials and then some. Those bits and pieces will stay organized too with two large zippered compartments and another zippered pocket hidden underneath the flap. There are open pockets too ready to keep your gadgets safe.

The style doesn't wow me, but the $75 price tag does. That makes this signature purse a much more tempting proposition than those similar high-end handbags.

The front pocket, with its brass buckles, is the kind of feature I'd expect to see on a school bag. It's entirely practical, but not so chic.

The Carol's functional design is its real drawcard. The lined interior is spacious, and decked out with slip pockets and a large zippered pouch. The leather pull makes it easy to access your precious cargo, while the zipper closure keeps them safe. The strap is long and flat, to help it sit comfortably on your shoulder. The linen platform base is protected from wear and tear with four metal feet.

This Giani Bernini purse has all the features and quality of any high-end designer bag; it's just a little lacking in the style department. However, don't let that dissuade you if you're on a budget. Priced at $84, it represents much better value than many cheap synthetic purses.
