This gentle design is different to the colorful bags many labels release during summer. It doesn't scream nearly so loudly, which should make it very versatile. I imagine it'll work with most apparel in your daytime warm weather wardrobe, although I can't imagine the casual purse will make the transition to the evening or the cooler months.

I just feel like I've seen it all before. Natural toned woven straw is a summer staple, and it always looks good paired with white leather accents. However because it feels so familiar it's easy to overlook. I appreciate that Calvin Klein has attempted to give us options with a gold-trimmed version and another zebra one, but these don't quite resonate either. Would you rather a daring but ultimately unsatisfying color scheme, or a boring one?

To be fair the Laguna's interior offers more than I expected. This is no simple beach tote. Its main compartment features a pair of slide pockets, a duo of zippered ones, and a credit card organizer which allows us to leave our wallet behind.

Those functional features might just get the Laguna over the line. This satchel hasn't wowed me, but for an affordable $168 Calvin Klein ensures we see value.

The handbag designer donated one million dollars to the school via his Calvin Klein Family Foundation, and another million dollars through Calvin Klein, Inc.

The generous sum should make this year's spring runway show a lavish affair. The annual event, which will be held this year in May 2, showcases the apparel and accessories created by students preparing to graduate with their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Design.

FIT boasts several high profile graduates, including Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, Nina Garcia, and Ralph Pucci.

Klein said he was moved to donate "to ensure that the FIT fashion show will continue to be the students' showcase to our industry without compromise.

"I am very proud that Calvin Klein, Inc. has joined my family foundation in this effort," he added.

Surely a cash boost of this size will guarantee the catwalk show continues to thrive!

I’m always impressed when designers inject their profits back into their community. To hear of Calvin Klein supporting an institution that has been so integral to his success seems especially fitting. What do you think of his generous donation?

The satchel takes its name from a Swiss ski resort, but it seems more like a metropolitan miss than a snow bunny. There's no fur or knit, none of the hallmarks of a typical winter handbag. But there is an icy charm to the pewter leather finish. This steely metallic hue makes the traditionally quilted leather seem much more interesting.

While the St. Moritz's timeless good looks are a draw card, we can find them on so many other bags. The expandable design is what really sets this purse apart. When we let out the external zip we can enjoy a few extra inches of storage space. That helps the St. Moritz work for regular days out, and those times we need to carry a few extras. The leather padding on the straps make sure that when we're loaded up our shoulders won't feel the strain.

A bag like the St. Moritz will always stay in vogue, which makes its $188 price tag seem very reasonable indeed.

OK, so this tote isn't all that exciting. Its belted detail and gathered sides give it a bit of personality, but essentially this is very traditional tote. However let's remember, classics became classics for a reason. By refusing to bow to trends, Calvin Klein has ensured this tote will look just as good season after season.

If the high quality leather and timeless style don't convince you, perhaps the interior will. The Vienna is a great size for every use; large enough for handling everything we need but not big enough to weigh us down. Its zippered pocket and pair of open slips is fairly standard, but they're really all a tote of this size needs to stay organized.

What I appreciate most is all those little touches, the leather trim around the pockets and the protective metal feet on the base. They're the sort of luxuries we expect on a high end designer tote, but rarely enjoy on one costing $252.90. The Vienna might not set the fashion world ablaze, but it's a solid wardrobe investment.

This is a cleverly designed satchel where every feature has a purpose. Its zippered pockets are the most striking feature, adding contemporary style and convenience to the oblong shaped satchel. It's hard to make a bag with plenty of exterior pockets look clean. We saw it go terribly wrong with the DKNY Pocket Bag recently. But rather than lumps and bumps, Calvin Klein has made the practical features appear sophisticated and chic.

Not all pockets are created equally though. The end ones are bound to be the most practical, as vertical and angled pockets are notoriously difficult to use. They do look fabulous though, so I'm sure anyone who loves their appearance will persevere with them.

The Unzipped satchel offers plenty of space, which is both a blessing and a curse. I love a bag that doesn't require me to pare down my daily swag, but that bulky oblong shape makes it a bit awkward to manage. It's so generously proportioned that carrying it feels a bit like lugging a diaper bag about. Shrinking it down would make it much easier to manage.

At $248 this stylish Calvin Klein bag is quite reasonably priced, but some little tweaks could have made it that much better.

The keys here are restraint and originality. Rather than covering the purse in metal, Calvin Klein gives us two trails of silver down the sides. Studs alternate with grommets to create a look that's playful and modern. I'm as shocked as you that Calvin Klein has made studs appear contemporary when the fashion is on its way out!

The metal helps to add structure to this soft leather bag. It's every bit as slouchy as we'd hope a hobo to be, but its platform base and reinforced sides help it stand up. That should make the On the Dot much more user-friendly than your average hippy hobo.

The choice of shoulder and cross-body straps is welcome but not unusual. What's more intriguing is that both straps are removable, so you can enjoy a clean look no matter what mode you're carrying it.

Calvin Klein's also gone above and beyond inside. This isn't the largest hobo I've seen, but it has a whopping four open pockets inside. There's also a zippered pocket too, so you needn't worry about your valuables going astray.

At $278, this On the Dot hobo is well priced for a bag you'll happily carry all year round.

Generally the beautiful bags are simple and stunning, and often they don't cost as much as you would perhaps expect. This Calvin Klein clutch is one of those bags that just makes me go "wow"!

I love it so for many reasons. First up is the shape; sleek and sophisticated, with more than a passing resemblance to the beautiful frame clutches of the Art Deco era. Frame purses like this are always pretty, and the Dots clutch uses the clean modern lines to their very best advantage. It isn't exactly roomy,  but then again what evening bag is?

Then there is the pattern. Oh, I love it! A collection of glossy metallic dots covers the whole bag, creating a look that is at once ordered and exciting. A modern design like this will never go out of fashion, and it means that you can wear the classic combination of black and silver in a more exciting way than normal. Plus, it is leather, making it very luxurious and interesting.

I can't insult this bag. I just can't. I can't even insult the price at $118. What a beauty!

Take, for example, the C-Link clutch, which is only $51!

I am impressed that this clutch is made out of leather. After all, designers usually like to up their margins by keeping the leather for the expensive bags alone. However, this one is all genuine, and a lovely soft textured leather it is too. It even comes with a sleek (but easily stained, it must be said) white satin lining, and a practical shoulder strap in the same leather.

The design is classic, as you would expect from Calvin Klein, who is an expert in formal handbags. The C-Link decoration makes it look sleek and elegant, whilst the little studs are a nice touch. Definitively work appropriate, this is all about looking smart.

Cute and affordable, I am impressed with this bag!

Now the label has done it again with the gorgeous finish of its Tree Bark clutch.

The name of this accessory is less enigmatic than the Rain. There's no mystery about where the moniker comes from; the surface has a gorgeous crinkled texture which resembles the grain of a weathered old tree. The organic treatment of the leather is paired with an elegant silver frame and clasp. It all adds up to a look that's incredibly chic and evening appropriate.

Not that this clutch couldn't work double duty during the day, providing you know how to travel light. It's not large enough to carry many of the items we now call essentials, but it would help to dress up a pair of dark denim jeans and a modern top. The chain strap also helps to give it that day to night versatility; I always love a hands-free option if I'm on the go.

That versatile styling may help those of us wavering about the $118 price tag. It's not totally outrageous for a designer accessory, but it is a little pricy if it's saved for special occasions.

Calvin Klein produces some of the best patent purses on the market, because the leather it uses has such a beautiful gloss. The texture of the leather in this particular fold-over clutch makes it even more interesting, with the vertical lines contrasting against the more horizontal lines of the bag as a whole. It makes this much more interesting to look at, without having to over decorate the Rain clutch at all.

The chunky chain handle adds some much needed oomph to a basic design, and makes the Calvin Klein purse quite easy to look at!

At $88, I have seen designers charge more for a bag. However, this is pretty simple, and I am not entirely convinced by the color. It is a matter of personal taste, but to me the rust red shade is going to be a little hard to work into an outfit. If you work in formal blacks and grays, however, you could look damn sexy with this clutched in your hand!
