Bodhi's got the balance right here. The Spring Street is youthful yet it's not unusual enough to scare conservative types away. I really like the way Bodhi's used studs here. They're much more delicate than the metal tends to be, and that takes the accent away from the rock and roll arena. I like the way the decoration works with the conservative chestnut color.

Bodhi doesn't call its Spring Street bag a mini for nothing. It's very petite, so some modern girls may struggle to fit everything they usually carry inside it. There's something liberating about stripping away the surplus, but if you see your swag like a security blanket you may disagree!

By shrinking the dimensions Bodhi's kept the Spring Street priced at $378. That's still not small change, but it's quite reasonable for a purse of this quality.

Just like the Alphabet City street that shares its name, this cross-body bag oozes modern attitude. It almost looks like someone's taken a switchblade to the flap, an edgy detail which is complemented beautifully by the punk rock chains draped casually across the pebbled leather. The combination of black skin and gleaming silver metal is very rock and roll, but the chains are just delicate enough to ensure the look isn't overdone.

We get more metal and chains in the cross-body strap. The way the leather winds its way through the silver links calls to mind high class Chanel purses. That tempers the bag's rebellious spirit a little, ensuring we can carry it to a good restaurant or the theatre without attracting the wrong kind of attention.

For those evenings out I'd probably leave the strap behind and carry it like a clutch. It's a little larger than most bags of this ilk, but it's slender enough easily tuck underneath your arm or hold in your hand. And that extra space will never go astray when you're hitting the town.

The Avenue B's versatility helps make its $488 price tag seem like a pretty good deal.

Its name takes us to the South Pacific, but this purse has a much more European feel to it. The elastic part of its name comes from the treatment of the tote’s top. The elasticized finish creates gathers and girly ruffles all around.

Another designer may have rested on its laurels, but not Bodhi. The central panel underneath this is decorated with a helping of heavy metal. Curved zips dart this way and that, mirroring the line of the studs above them. The combination of domed studs and flattened embossed ones is really interesting. I'm still not sure whether I like the variance, but it's caught my attention.

On another bag all those unusual details could become messy, but by using a creamy sand color Bodhi ensures the elements stay under control. They make what is underneath it all a fairly bog standard box tote really eye catching.

All too often designers want to charge us a packet for an unusual accessory, knowing that as we can't get it elsewhere we’ll pay a premium. But not Bodhi, who keeps this authentic leather bag reasonably priced at $348.

That might help to endear it to women who've never warmed to Bodhi's artistic vision, but I can't help feeling disappointed. It's a bit like when your favorite comedic actor decides to take a dramatic role. He might perform brilliantly, but you can't help waiting for the punch line. In the same way, I can't help looking for something that makes this bag special.

It's all perfectly adequate, with a spacious interior, comfortable carry straps, and an assortment of leather trimmed pockets. That leather too is lovely, and its choice of colors is quite striking.

But when it comes to Bodhi, I expect something that will stand out. At $398 it's not unreasonable for a classic leather handbag, but I don't think it has enough personality to convince us to part with our cash.

That traditional approach may disappoint some of the label's fans, but I think it's also likely to attract some new ones. The sexy, simple curves are complemented by matching seams. I generally find name plates jarring, but this one adds some interest to the classic pebbled leather.

The slender design makes this Moon Clutch very elegant, but I'm not sure it's all that practical. Once you try to load it up it's bound to show lumps and bumps. It'll take some serious skill to pack this purse and maintain those clean, smooth lines. If you don't mind about that so much you'll find the space generous enough for holding everything you need on a big night out, and an extra tube of lipstick.

The lack of shoulder strap is disappointing, particularly for a purse costing $318. But it is a lovely looking thing, which might be just enough to tempt you to overlook those practical concerns.

First you have that traditional tan suede, in a wonderful caramel camel shade that will work really well with the current fashion favorites. Then, gathering that soft suede is a bronze metallic patent strap, which really adds a frisson of interest. I think we can conclude that the color choices are bang on the money!

Then, of course, there is the decoration. The two teeny-tiny coin purses on the patent band are where this clutch got its name, but I am not entirely convinced. They are cute, no doubt about it, but I wonder if Bodhi has thought them through. After all, they aren't exactly functional, they are that small!

Otherwise, however, this is a pretty purse, especially thanks to the wavy shape.

OK, lusting over, what do we think of this golden yellow seamed tote?

Personally, the color sells it to me. It is so unusual, so bold and so happy, that I am certain it could brighten up even the dullest winter day. It isn't the most practical shade, especially for conservative offices, but if you like to attract attention then a flash of egg yolk yellow like this is bound to do it.

The design too is unusual, but not so strange as to make this bag stand out like a sore thumb, or to make it difficult to use. After all, this is a tote, and needs to function as such. Thankfully this bag does just that, with multiple interior compartments and zipped pockets. The suede stripes may reduce the practicality somewhat, but this is still pretty useful.

This is a great looking bag for a surprisingly reasonable $207!

There's something decidedly retro about this structured handbag. The unique oval shape is made from classic quilted leather. This striking skin contrasts with the top flap and handles, which are made from a delightfully clashing color. We get a few options here; traditionalists will opt for black, but I think I'd prefer the more playful shades of yellow or orange. They're just so sunny!

This box handbag really reminds me of a picnic basket, although it's nowhere near as large. It should prove to be just as user friendly though. The platform base helps the bag sit up straight, while the structured sides makes it easy to get your goodies in and out.

This bag is a bit of a novelty, which may make many fashion fans hesitant to spend almost $400 on it. But if you're a daring retro diva, you probably won't find such a unique handbag of such quality for less!

I actually love this bag. There, I said it. Despite the fact that it is a mishmash of a bold Greek key pattern, spacious exterior pockets, and bright yellow trim, there is something upbeat and optimistic about it all. This isn't a bag for people who stand in the shadows; this is more of an up-and-at-em bold and vivacious tote for people with fashion balls. Of course, this does mean it is harder to wear than many other designer bags, but who cares?!

The actual shape and design of this pocket tote is surprisingly functional when you compare it to how over-the-top the looks are! You get spacious exterior pockets and a big compartmentalized interior that is perfect if you like staying organized. It is, in fact, quite impressive, and means that your $239 is buying you something practical as well as pretty. The best of both worlds!

This geometric patterned hold-all may just be the funkiest bag I have seen in ages, but are you brave enough to wear it?
