Aldo celebrates mod style with this playful Swapp Shopper.

Its rainbow tiles take colorblocking back to its sixties roots. With the bold black lines between each square, the Swapp appears like a Mondrian artwork rather than a mere carry bag. All those colors probably won't be easy to incorporate into a busy wardrobe, but if you favour neutrals this shopper could offer the pop you're looking for.

While it appears like a work of retro art it does its job too, with a choice of carry straps and well organized interior. Open gadget pouches are complemented by a spacious zippered pocket. All are reinforced with leather for durability. The dark lining makes it a bit difficult to find just what you’re looking for, but at least it's thick enough to withstand regular use. Modern girls may crave a bit more space than Aldo provides, but the Swapp should hold all your essentials if you pack them carefully.

Aldo rarely uses real leather, but it splashes out on the good stuff here. Happily that upgrade doesn't affect the bottom line too much. At $89.53 this shopper is a steal in anyone's language.

With the silly season upon us, my taste in handbags is tending towards the whimsical. I'm not looking for a clutch to see me through the year; I just want something fun and frivolous to take to a few holiday parties. And I've found just that in Aldo's Selfridge Clutch.

Aldo has jazzed up this clutch's traditional baguette purse with adorable sequin covered stars. I love the way the silvery accents pop against the bag's black body, almost like real stars twinkling in the night sky.

Far too often affordable labels cut corners, but I don't see a lot of evidence of that here. The stars cover the purse, front and back, so we don't need to be conscious of what way we're carrying it. The interior is also fully lined with fabric to help it last longer.

It is quite simple though, without a shoulder strap or any interior pockets. It's also made of polyurethane, which is nowhere near as luxurious as leather. It feels cheap but it looks the part from a distance, which is perhaps the best we can hope for at this price point. At $62.90 it'll leave plenty of cash for a few cheeky Christmas cocktails!

Aldo has an uncanny knack for interpreting modern trends for less. With this Goetter, the budget fashion house takes on nudes.

I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of a nude color palette. It's very now, but the shades always seem a bit washed out and boring to me. However the hue of the Goetter is warmer than most, and it comes closer to winning me over than the rest. And then there's the soft, relaxed pleating, which adds interest to the Goetter's voluminous synthetic body.

It's the little touches that really impress me though. The braided handle is really interesting, and the pair of zippered pockets a seamless addition to the front of the bag. I'm not sure whether the unusual orientation will make those pockets very user-friendly, but I appreciate the way they work on a purely aesthetic level.

The Goetter is one of those Mary Poppins purses that seems to fit everything you need along with the kitchen sink. All that space makes us feel pampered, but it might make the Goetter a little difficult to manage. Attaching the longer cross-body strap should make things that much easier though.

I'd have called this bag affordable at $100, but at $45 it's an absolute bargain!

If you like Kate Spade or DKNY style but, like me, can't afford to own one of their handbags, then you need something inspired by classic designer looks - but much cheaper. The Aldo Kemfort is just the ticket!

The quilted synthetic body and cute polka dot fabric bow give the 60's style that we all know and love, but at a price of $50, rather than $500. To me, this is one hell of a deal, and whilst you pay for the cheapness in a lack of quality materials and perhaps slightly poorer workmanship, it seems a fair sacrifice to me!

There are, of course, a few parts of this bag that aren't quite designer. The part chain handle, for example, would perhaps have been better in solid fabric, and a couple of interior compartments wouldn't have gone amiss. This aside, however, this quilted tote is a smart and affordable choice.

Aldo Cyphert Satchel | Budget Chic Inspired Synthetic Ladylike Tassels Handbag

Aldo offers an affordable alternative to a Hermes bag with this Cyphert satchel.

While it's not a carbon copy, I can't help thinking of the Kelly bag when I see the Cyphert. It's very structured and ladylike, with clean, crisp lines. The front tassels help to soften the satchel's visage just a tad, but with their golden metal base they look more elegant than boho.

The optional cross-body strap is a practical addition, but it doesn't compensate for the Cyphert's functional flaws. The magnetic closure is really weak and prone to popping open when you walk, so your cargo will fall out if you're not paying attention.

There also isn't the attention to detail we'd see in a Hermes bag, or even a mid-level designer accessory. Customers have complained about the pockets tearing away from the lining and the handle breaking. This certainly isn't a bag for overstuffing, as it seems incapable of delivering when pushed to its limits.

Of course, if your bank account allows for a Hermes bag you won't settle for this $45 purse. If it doesn't though, you might just need to accept those flaws to get the vintage look!

Embrace this season's romantic vibe with this cute floral handbag.

Have you noticed the spring/summer 2011 trends? They are full of lace, and chiffon, and layers of floaty girly fabrics. Prints have turned towards soft femininity and flowery, as if rebelling against the grown up maturity of last season's "investment pieces". As such, the Moltz clutch from Aldo is bang on the money.

Aside from that lovely rural rose print (and the equally lovely leather-esque trim) there is something else about this bag that sells it very easily. The price! $35 is very cheap, making it accessible to people who may well not wear this purse once florals are relegated to the gutters of fashion, and the powers that be decree that studded neons are once again "in."

Aldo has done well again, producing a budget-friendly trend-following cross-body (sorry about all those hyphens) that makes me wonder why there are so many more expensive bags on the market!

With cute bows and a rusty red shade, there is a lot to make this Aldo handbag worth paying attention to.

Bows are always cute, but I find them especially pretty when they are a reasonably small feature. The addition of a layered bow to a large and traditional tote bag, therefore, was always bound to be a hit with me. The Eberheart is, in short, a stunning bag that does everything with style, and I desperately want to own one.

Normally bags that look this smart cost the earth. However, Aldo has stuck to its absurdly affordable roots by ensuring that this faux-leather tote costs an astonishingly cheap $27.99. Remarkable, eh? And sure, so you don't get real leather and it may not last for a lifetime, but at that price point I simply don't care.

With plenty of functional touches and lots of interior compartments, this is one tote bag that is stylish, affordable, and useful too!

Ooh, I don't half love bows! I love them even more when they cost only $24, like they do on this cute satin Aldo clutch.

You don't just get one bow here, but three, all in a pretty little row. This is what separates this cute evening bag from all the others, with their big single bows and strange fabrics. In my humble opinion a bow is pretty enough when in its own basic form, and using a simple yet elegant fabric like satin is the best way to make them look lovely, yet sophisticatedly understated.

The Maybrier may be a little slender, but when going out for the night you don't need to pack the kitchen sink. Or you shouldn't need to, at least! This is what keeps the shape so sleek, and packing too much would definitely distort the lines.

The only thing I don't like about this affordable purse? The handle, a chain that although useful, doesn't go with the overall style. Still, you don't have to use it!

It isn't often that you find a beaded bag that manages to be casual, but I think that Aldo has achieved just that with their Rucinski clutch.

So, what makes this casual? Well, I think it must be the bright and happily colored beads that do it. Rather than subtle coordinating colors and glitzy shades, this is all about the cute pastels and sunny yellows, on a casual pale fabric background. It may look a little like it is covered in little pills and capsules (red pill or blue pill?!), but at the same time it is fun and relaxed.

The actual design of this beaded purse is, as with most Aldo bags, unremarkable. You are only spending $20 after all, and for that sort of moolah you won't be expecting any revolutionary fashion concepts! Instead,you have a purse that does what it says on the tin, holding your belongings and looking pretty. You even get an optional handle, although I have to admit to not really being a fan of the slightly tacky and fragile looking metal chain.

The Rucinski handbag is a great and affordable way to have fun without shelling out too much money, and the cheery shades should help to keep your spirits up in preparation for winter!

Who says that chic and sophisticated accessories have to cost the earth? Aldo reduced the bottom line with this surprisingly affordable Zenon bag.

From a distance this beautiful bag looks like it's come from an Italian fashion house. There's the smooth black surface, the pop of golden hardware, and the minimalist design. But looks can be deceiving of course, as no Italian label would ever charge just $40 for a handbag.

Once you start to pull it apart you realize the corners that Aldo has cut to keep that price down. The body isn't Italian leather, but it is a pretty stylish synthetic. It's also quite small; Aldo seems reluctant to release its dimensions, but many customers have reported being upset by its petite stature. That makes the Zenon a special occasion bag rather than an everyday staple. That role probably suits it best though, as its synthetic fabric will last longer with more sporadic use.

I wouldn't see the size necessarily as a negative. After all, those high end fashion houses happily charge a small fortune for the tiniest of purses. In the Zenon, Aldo gives girls on a budget what they need to project an aura of polish and poise.
