Gorgeous Chloe Bleu Nuit Italian Leather Medium Dome Paddington Capsule Handbag

I purchased this beautiful bag from Saks. It's Chloe's "Medium Dome Paddington Capsule Handbag" in smooth, silky soft, satin finished, Italian leather in a navy so dark it almost looks black. The tonal topstitching is a true navy shade. The official color name is "bleu nuit" (the photos accurately represent the "in real life" color). The hardware is such a pale goldtone brass, it almost looks silver. The style name comes from the top of the bag body, which forms a four-cornered "dome" with a leather top edge that resembles a frame (but it's leather, not metal). Tiny studs decorate the leather in several places. The top secures via a heavy gauge zipper recessed into the leather frame top and has a hanging Chloe logo embossed, luggage style tie attached to the ring zipper pull. There is a flap/hidden magentic device closure pocket on the front. A couple inches to the sides of the pocket are studded loops that attach a heavy gauge chain from which hangs a small padlock with a logo embossed leather band across the middle. The leather band is attached to the padlock on the back by two screwhead studs.The key to unlock/lock the padlock hangs from a handle via a leather tie. The handles are rolled with reinforced center grips and attach in two places to the bag body on both the front and back surfaces via logo engraved buckles. There are 3 holes on each side of each handle for length/drop adjustment. The bottom has 6 stud "feet" to provide protection when the bag is set down on a surface. It's lined with black gabardine and inside there's a large zippered pocket and plenty of room for all the essentials including a cosmetics bag, PDA and MP3 player. Bag Specifics:

• All measurements are approximate and in inches.
• Smooth, silky soft, satin finished, blackish navy (bleu nuit) Italian leather with true navy tonal top-stitching.
• Leather frame with four-cornered dome shaped body top.
• Pale goldtone brass (almost looks silver), with tiny stud decorations in various places on the body.
• 6 stud "feet" on bottom.
• Heavy gauge top closure zipper w/ring zipper pull that has a Chloe embossed, leather luggage style, tag hanging by a leather tie.
• Front flap/hidden magnetic device (beneath leather) closure pocket measures 8W X 6D.
• A couple inches from the pocket sides, there are studded leather loops from which hangs a chain containing a small padlock. (Padlock is suspended from chain in middle over the pocket body). Padlock has Chloe embossed leather band across the middle attached at the padlock back by two screwhead studs. Key to lock/unlock padlock hangs from one of the handles by a leather tie.
• Rolled leather handles are reinforced with leather on the center grips and measure 3/4W X 24L. They attach in two places to the bag body on both the front and back surfaces via Chloe engraved buckles. Each buckle "belt" has 3 holes, each one inch apart, to adjust length/drop. In the shortest hole, which was the position at the time I took Ron's modeling pictures, drop is 7-1/2 inches. Bag can be tote or shoulder carried. Hanging from one handle via a leather tie is the key that locks/unlocks the padlock.
• Front pocket and interior lined with black gabardine canvas.
• Back wall zippered pocket measures 8W X 6D; leather zipper pull and encasement. "Chloe, Made in Italy" is embossed in bottom center of encasement. Sewn into pocket lining side seam is natural leather tag embossed with the serial number (01-08-531 with a 2 on the line below). On the back of the tag is a silver sticker that has the bag registration number (C.2.44430712) that matches the one on the back of the plastic authenticity card. This number can be used to register the bag online at www.chloe.com.

Beware of fakes!  Chloe bags have been widely replicated by counterfeiters, especially the Paddington and Silverado satchels. Paddington bags fall in on themselves from the weight of the padlock if the interior is not filled (as this bag is trying to do since I don't have it fully stuffed). Simply ask for assistance in authentication, come back an hour or so later, and you will find comments by members who although not professional authenticators, have special expertise in identifying authentic from replica bags.
