Bulga Bairam Tote | Green Leather Tote with Organizing Pockets

I'm a fan of Bulga handbags, but sometimes I think that the brand just modifies a few signature styles. In particular, the brand tends to favor a rounded-top satchel with double handles.

The Bulga Marquis, Adore, and Zaraf satchels all follow this silhouette, and now the Bairam tote can join the bunch. As with the other designs, there isn't much about this handbag that isn't likable. Its traditional appearance and classic styling will likely appeal to a broad range of shoppers.

On the other hand, there's not a lot about the Bairam that stands out as remarkable to me either. It isn't particularly stunning or surprising in any way except perhaps this dark green color option and the cute, little kiss-lock coin pocket on the front. The exterior and interior pockets are extremely helpful but also exactly what I'd expect from the brand and this style.

A lack of unexpected features doesn't mean it's not worth a look, though. We all need at least one trusty, go-with-just-about-everything type of tote that can be carried to the office, on errands, and just around town. This may or may not be the right choice depending on your price point since $510 is a little steep to some budgets, but it's a nice option for a simple, well-made handbag.

Finding a clutch that is individual and big enough to house all your belongings can be a bit of a task, but this Laura Matthews Designs patent handbag can go some of the distance to filling the gap.

Looks wise, this large clutch is interesting and eye-catching. From the large abstract contrasting clasp to the sexy shaded color, this is a good looking purse. It is available in this aquamarine and grey combo, but the plain plum and cream versions are currently on sale with 70% off How much is that sophisticated shading worth?

Now on to the practicalities. This funky oversized purse actually comes with a good quality optional strap. Where most clutches offer a long chain option, this one lets you convert your smart purse into a casual shoulder bag. You also get multiple compartments and pockets, so the designers have really gone all out to make this useful and pretty.

Of course, having that much space and functionality is great, but it is a shame that they only offer a simple magnetic closure. Considering how much you will be carrying, a more secure zip fastening would have been a nice added touch!

Analeena Handbags One to Watch | Luxury Crocodile Purses Sell Out in London

Analeena may not be a household name just yet, but the French brand is generating massive industry buzz.

The collection received rave reviews at last year's London Fashion Week. Harrods responded to the demand and became the label's exclusive UK retailer. After making its debut, the entire collection sold out in just two weeks.

I've got to tell you, the public's enthusiasm isn't because the bags are cheap. The luxurious python and crocodile skin finishes see Analeena purses priced between 2,000 and 10,000 Euros. That's an amazing amount for a lesser-known name, but Analeena bags have a few features which encourage bagistas to splurge. While most exotic bags are heavy, Analeena purses are surprisingly lightweight. The handbags also come in a fun range of colors, matched by the brand's signature pink lambskin lining.

It's surprising to see such an expensive brand take off in the midst of a financial crisis. Its ability to defy the global trends means Analeena's definitely a name to watch.

Mark your calendars and get your burning questions ready, folks. Bag Snob is bringing in one of the big names for their periodical virtual personal appearance event.

The editors and visitors of the site have chatted with Monica Botkier and Adriana Castro, who provided interesting insights into their backgrounds and design processes. However, readers are likely to be overly ecstatic about the newest scheduled guest.

Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta is planning a virtual appearance on the website on Wednesday, November 4 and will be available to chat online from 10 am to 12 pm (EST). Jalda Kona Slouchy Clutch | Exotic and Brilliantly Bright Eel Skin Purse

Exotic fabrics are alsways a great gimmick, and eel skin leather is one of the smoothest softest gimmicks around!

I am a particular fan of this leather, and Jalda produce some of the most luxurious materials around. You pay for that luxury, but if you want something a bit special, that is always going to be the case!

This slouchy clutch is strangely attractive. Although simple, minimalist and unadorned, the fabric slouches and folds in just the right way, even if you don't get any bold features to accompany it. To make up for this you have the color, however, which as with all eel skin purses is stunningly vivid. The purple shade isn't quite as exciting, but the yellow and blue really do pop.

Of course, luxurious and tactile as this Jalda Kona handbag is, the designers have missed a trick by not offering an optional handle, for when you want to dance and not clutch. In the same vein, whilst the lining fabric is wonderful there are no interior pockets, immediately making this clutch suitable for going out only.

Big Buddha Nolita Shoulder Bag | Faux Suede Purse with Studs and Tassels

Big Buddha hits multiple bag trends with this new stylish Nolita Shoulder Bag. From the overall shape to the details, this purse has a handful of features going for it.

The Nolita is available in quite a few color options, but this rich purple is a great pop of color for the fall. It's my favorite of the bunch, although the bright blue and olive green should get an honorable mention as well for their vibrant tones.

I'd prefer if the material on this shoulder bag were genuine suede, but Big Buddha's manmade version is quite acceptable and much more palatable for the wallet since the Nolita only retails for $90. The faux material isn't overly noticeable, too, since the purse has a very slouchy silhouette with a drawstring top creating tons of gathers around the body.

The other trendy details on this Big Buddha design include the studs scattered throughout the front and on the sides of the handbag. As usual, it's a shame that the feature isn't included on the back of the bag, though this certainly wouldn't be the first brand to leave out that detail. Fun tassels hang from either side of the drawstring top and give the Nolita a nicely finished appearance.

I love the sassy spirit of this Tano French Nanny bag. It's got that European refinement, but there's a cheekiness which sets it apart.

Tano's clever signature style is seen again in the French Nanny. This isn’t a brand which embraces bells or bling. The front and back have a clean design, which allows the sexy Italian crunch leather to take center stage. The leather comes in a diverse color spectrum, which includes garnet, timber green, and this lovely cobalt blue. While there are many shades to choose from, none are too outlandish. They're the kind of jewel tones which are right on trend this season.

But the sides are where the real action happens, with leather belt details smattered with silver studs. They bring enough attitude to appease rocker chicks, without overwhelming those of us with more conservative tastes.

The long shoulder strap is another inspired touch. Unlike so many bags, this one won't just suit you for summer. You can comfortably sling it over a thick knitted sweater or puffy winter coat.

The French Nanny is a big old bag, capable of carrying the girly goodies that you need, and a few things you don't! But you might have trouble finding them. A zippered pocket and lone open pouch isn't really enough to keep a space this size in order.

It's not flawless, but for just $199 I think I could learn to live with the French Nanny's shortcomings.

Versace Cuts Jobs | Designer Label’s Financial Woes Continue

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for European designer label Versace. Not even a month after the brand announced the closure of its Japanese stores comes news that 350 jobs will be cut.

The positions will be cut from Versace's international talent pool by the middle of next year. Just like the closure of the Japanese stores, the measure is part of the cost-cutting initiatives essential for the brand to stay afloat during the financial crisis.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Versace is expected to lose €30 million before tax on a revenue of €273 million. Compare this to the brand's €9 million profit on sales of €336 million just 12 months before.

The good news for fashion fans is that Versace remains committed to new runway designs. It will trim the fat in the areas of production, distribution, and logistics. Whatever steps the label takes, I hope they're enough to help it weather the financial storm.

Stone Mountain Phoenix Tote | Classic Stylish Black Leather Handbag

The name Phoenix conjures an image of a purse rising from the ashes as the savior of the fashion industry. This tote doesn't really live up to that grandiose mental picture, but it is a classy creation nonetheless.

It all starts with elegant black, buttery soft leather. The slightly flared shape adds interest, as does the lovely pleated pocket we also saw on the Phoenix hobo. It's this collection's trademark, one that combines good looks and practicality. The tiny Stone Mountain nameplates on the pocket and zipper pulls are the only bits of external branding, a welcome break from the loud logos of so many other designer purses.

The styling may be a little pedestrian for some tastes, but Stone Mountain's always been more about practicality and timelessness than cutting edge looks. The giraffe print lining hints at the brand's wild side, but the plethora of pockets you'll also remind us that a functional space is much more important than one which simply looks good.

At $110 retail, the Stone Mountain Phoenix tote represents excellent value. You're not likely to find many totes with such classic looks and high quality fabrics in this price range.
