Salvatore Ferragamo’s Fall/Winter 2009 Ad Campaign is a Walk in the Park

Salvatore Ferragamo's most recent advertising campaign has been out for a bit now, but I think it's still worth talking about. This is the type of photo shoot that makes me long for the weather that accompanies the advertised season.

In a visually stunning fall/winter 2009 photo shoot, Ferragamo displays new coats, handbags, and, of course, shoes. The campaign features models Eva Herzigova and Mariacarla Boscono alongside dashingly handsome Italian dancer Roberto Bollé.

I'm not sure where photographer Mario Testino shot the ads, but the background is quite impressive. They seem to be sauntering through a gorgeous city park ... draped in designer clothing and accessories, quite naturally.

Although the location is very pretty, it's the gorgeous scarlet red outfits in this shot that caught my eye. The look is very dramatic but extremely elegant and sophisticated. I can just imagine one of those vibrant satchels on my arm this season. I might not be pairing it with a red dress, shoes, and tights, but they look simply fabulous.

Botkier Marcel Satchel | Structured Handbag with Woven Metallic Detail

I liked the look of the Botkier Marcel Clutch, but I'm loving the contemporary style even more on this larger satchel silhouette.

Take away the kiss-lock closure and folded sides and add in a few other details, and the Marcel satchel is basically a supersized version of the clutch. That could be a negative thing if the Marcel style didn't have so many great things going for it. However, everything I like about the clutch makes me like the satchel even more.

The unique woven metallic strips detail on the front is more prominent and eyecatching on this larger handbag. Although the satchel is also available in a shiny champagne color just like the clutch in the previous review, I'm more drawn to the look of the gold squares set off brilliantly by the black background of the main body. It's unfortunate that the stunning detail doesn't continue to the back of the purse as well.

Contemporary woven feature aside, the Marcel's structured handbag shape almost has a vintage-ish shape to it. Some might even prefer to classify it as a doctor bag rather than a satchel. The double handles are a nice length for comfortable carrying, and a fun tassel on the zipper adds some flair.

As expected, the price of the satchel runs a little higher than the clutch version. The difference is actually a few hundred dollars, but the size of this designer handbag and the unique look makes it worth the cost.

Alexander McQueen Union Jack Box Clutch | Punk Rock Red And Black Leather Clutch With Skull Clasp

Alexander McQueen is the enfant terrible of the fashion world. He's always pushing boundaries by pushing models wearing totally over-the-top outfits down the runways. I love him for it, but I know that he has his share of naysayers.

And this box clutch is sure to be on a fine line between love and hate for many people. Personally, I'm right now thinking of things I could sell to own it. But I was a teenage punk rocker, and this bag perfectly epitomizes the aesthetic sensibilities of my youth, so excuse me if I get a little clingy.

Frankly, I think the combination of the Union Jack done in red and black and the hematite-eyed skull clutch is just going to me too much for most women. Sure, they'll want it for some particularly outfit, but most women don't drop $1,575 on an accessory they'll only wear once a year. Too bad for them is what I say. Maybe then it'll go on sale, but quick.

If you look past its out-there appearance, the Union Jack Box Clutch is actually very practical. I mean, that quality leather and hard case is going to stand up to a lot of wear. And since punk is never technically in style, it will never go out of style, right? Plus, its inherent badassitude is sort of a theft deterrent. I wouldn't mess with the chick carrying this bag. Especially since I think its sturdiness might make it an excellent weapon.

Fossati Launches Limited Edition Italian Handbag Collection at Henri Bendel’s New York Store

Catherine Fossati Healey was inspired by her European heritage to create the Italian collection, her latest limited edition Fossati handbag line.

The range includes the romantically named Venice evening bag, and the Capri and Milano day bags. Each was inspired by the city which shares its name. They're all available in a range of exotic leathers, including leather, python, and ostrich. The luxury continues inside, with each purse lined with lush lambskin.

"Our luxurious lining adds to the pleasure of owning a Fossati handbag. The lining is light and bright to add a little extra measure of luxury and surprise," explained Ms Fossati Healey.

"Fossati handbags are designed for sophisticated women who value quality and scarcity over brand recognition."

The Italian Collection will make its debut at Henri Bendel's flagship store at 712 Fifth Avenue, New York from October 22 to 24. Catherine Fossati Healey herself will appear in store to coincide with the launch.

"Henri Bendel has a reputation for launching new brands, it's thrilling to have an opportunity like this," she said.

There's no word in pricing yet, but the sumptuous fabrics and limited edition designs guarantee the collection won't come cheaply!

Betsey Johnson Painted Python Wristlet | Colorful Retro 80s Style Purse

This Betsey Johnson Painted Python purse is totally on trend and of the moment. Just don't expect to pull it out next season.

While it suits the current taste for all things 1980s, the fluorescent snakeskin tones are just too vibrant to appeal for too long. Right now though, I love the way the orange and pink hues clash with neutral black and white. The angular zips trimmed in thick black PVC only add to its retro charm. I can imagine Madonna carrying this when she burst onto the music scene.

Wristlets are never large, but this one is a bit bigger than most. That should appeal to girls who want to carry around more than simply small change. The detachable wrist strap is another practical touch, allowing the purse to convert from a wristlet to traditional clutch with ease.

It may not have a longstanding appeal, but at just $54 at least this won't cost you the earth. And unlike the totes and hobos featuring the same color scheme, this wristlet is small enough to hide away in a larger purse once the fad has passed.

Alexis Hudson Eternity Combo Clutch | Snakeskin Textured Leather Bag with Detachable Bracelet

The Eternity line from Alexis Hudson might not be new for the brand this season, but I think it's still worth mentioning because of its versatile look and clever mechanics.

With its snakeskin texture and unusual color palette this Eternity Combo clutch is both interesting to look at but not too over the top for regular use. Although it's somewhat of a standout handbag, because of snakeskin's ever-increasing presence in fashion accessories, you won't be limited much in what you can pair this clutch with.

The Eternity clutch also comes in an even more versatile solid version, but the Combo makes more of a statement. Called a combo because of its mix of colored snakeskin material, this clutch simply refuses to be ordinary but looks fantastic doing so. The double layer of leather strips run down the middle of the front and back of the handbag and on the front round detail on the closure complementing the main color of the purse.

The Eternity boasts more than visual appeal, however. This clutch has a few surprises that you wouldn't expect from just glancing at it. The front flap opens to reveal a leather-trimmed mirror, perfect for makeup touch-ups and quick checks. Even more surprising, the brass ring on the flap, most likely the inspiration for the name eternity, is actually a detachable Adina Reyter bracelet. You can dress up an outfit with the ring either adorning the clutch or your wrist. It's the kind of clever detail that makes me like Alexis Hudson even more.

Yves Saint Laurent Le Sixieme Printed Stingray Bag | Sophisticated And Exotic Steel Grey Shoulder Bag

51035 in dlDoes Yves Saint Laurent ever go wrong? It's a good question. I don't have an answer, but I can tell you that this line has been putting out must-haves since way before we had a way to say that.

The Le Sixieme is named after a district in Paris on the Left Bank known for being a little bit posh and a whole lot hip, which is basically how I think of this handbag.

The stamped stingray leather is absolutely to die for; from the texture to the color, I can't think of anything better. The shiny silver hardware sets off the rough texture of the bag and the cool tones of the color perfectly.

The shape and size are both minimal enough to allow the natural beauty of the material to shine through. But the chain strap adds an attitude all its own. It isn't the slim, ladylike chain we've seen all season; this one is part punk rock, part sleek leather link.

I can't think of a single thing that I don't adore about this bag, except the fact that I can't afford it.
