7 For All Mankind is known for its designer denim, and even for helping put "premium denim" on the map back when everyone bought their jeans at The Gap and Express. They've been doing accessories for a few seasons now, and it seems like they're definitely going the way they went with denim, gaining popularity with interesting details.

This Havana Hobo is full of exciting accents. My favorite is the pleated leather. It gives a sort of diagonal stripe affect to the bag. It's pretty different to see this pleating technique used with patent or high-gloss hide.

Small buttons or same-color rivets accent the sides of the bag, concentrating where the pleats are tightest. They also adorn the strap of the bag, which could be a bit much for some people.

There is an outer pocket with a diagonal zip, and an interior zip pocket as well. This seems like it would make a practical everyday bag in this navy color or black. For more of a pop of color, you could check out the pink version.

Betsey Johnson is ready to move on to a new stage in her career, particularly the stage where she can ditch the commute and wake up with no plans for the day.

The edgy, whimsical designer has plans to pass the creative direction of her label to another set of capable hands by the end of the fall. Johnson recently revealed that she anticipates the step-down to happen as soon as September following her show that month.

"I should be retired. I'm basically screwing up because I’m not retired. I’d like to go in four days a month, something like that."

The incoming head designer will most likely be Eric Sartori, whose résumé includes stints at Vera Wang and Hervé Léger. According to Johnson, Sartori merely needs to "Betsey-fy", and he's ready for the job.

"But I'll be a megaconsultant. I'll go in. I want to be like Ralph [Lauren]. Like, I always imagined the perfect life is like Ralph, where he goes in, and his wonderful expert crews show him work, and he goes, 'Love it, love it, love it, um, we’ll just put that aside for the moment, love it, love it, hmmm.' You know what I mean?"

Yes, Betsey, we know exactly what you mean. Make gobs of money while working less than five days a month. Don't we all wish we were in the same position of merely deciding when to make that change? If only!

Though they're not a particularly versatile addition to a wardrobe, canvas totes can be a fantastic way to play around with color and prints during the summer season.

Something like this light green Miss Liz handbag will add some fun and whimsy to a casual outfit. The graphic prints are separated into two halves on the front. The floral side reminds me of the Layer Cake Satchel but less bold when paired with the lime-colored background.

The lettered side is full of characters that spell out Roxy in no certain order. It's a fun contrast to the dainty flower print on the other half. The back of the bag is a little simpler with just a few flowers and signature logo on one side.

The Miss Liz's closure is an interesting feature. Instead of a magnetic snap or a lack of closure altogether, as many canvas totes seem to have, this bag has a clasp. The outer corners come together to create the slightly a-line shape you see here.

If lime green isn't your thing, the Miss Liz comes in a raspberry purple or black background with varying colors on the flowers and letters. For $34, you really can't go wrong with this canvas tote, even if it's not the most flexible accessory you own.

The Muse Two tote is not, by any means, something new to the world of fashion. This handbag line, which has been available to us for several seasons already, was preceded by the ever-so-popular Muse collection. Both lines have many celebrity followings, but I think that the Muse Two deserves as much of the spotlight as its predecessor.

In my opinion, an Yves Saint Laurent handbag purchase is like buying into a little piece of history. It will be famous and remembered for its era but never out of vogue. Though I happen to adore many of the label's purses like the Tribute and Y Satchel, the Muse Two is definitely one of my favorites for its easy classic yet completely sophisticated style.

The soft pebbled leather on this version of the Muse Two is absolutely elegant in natural tan. A satchel like this knows no season, which is excellent when you're going to shell out well over $1,000 to get it. If you're going to buy a designer handbag, it's nice to think that you'll get a good amount of use out of it throughout the year.

The Muse Two comes in more than one size and material. This particular one is a medium version, which is a very decent, average size for a satchel. The front flap closes with a push button with two straps that button below it. This chic Yves Saint Laurent tote is finished off with pretty gold hardware.

If you can design shoes, then you really ought to understand how to design handbags.  With the amazing heels that Jimmy Choo releases into the world, it is no surprise just how lovely his bags can be.

This slouchy black bag is a particularly special example. The slouchy ultra-soft leather almost gives the clutch an air of casual creation, almost as if a calf just happened to walk into some buckles, and voila! Whilst I suspect the construction of this designer purse was rather more complicated, it still retains a beautifully casual and easy-going shape.

Before you start thinking that this bag is overly simple and gentle, then don't worry. The multiple buckles bring a hint of the rocky and dramaticto this glossy purse, the gold hardware contrasting nicely with the deep color. These aren't over-the-top and ostentatious buckles however, they channel the trend brilliantly whilst still being discreet and wearable.

Whilst the chain handle probably isn't the most comfortable, I can't really find anything bad to say about this sexy little purse. It is spacious, comfortable, durable, and shouldn't go out of fashion easily. A stunner!

Gucci has got it right with its latest advertising campaign for their Jackie collection. The fashion house has abandoned exotic locales and color, preferring instead to keep it simple.

Polish beauty Anja Rubik stars in this basic black shoot captured by the legendary photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. But the main focus is that gorgeous Jackie handbag.

This season's Jackie maintains its famous bamboo details, but there are some exciting changes for bagistas. Gucci has experimented with leathers, releasing a gorgeous metallic with a violet hue, and black and khaki python purses. It’s also available in a new size, giving purse fans even more choice.

The Jackie is available in 12 different versions. You'll see it in Gucci boutiques and all the usual retail outlets this fall. There’s no word on pricing yet, but you can expect those snakeskin handbags won't be cheap! At least we've got a little time to save our pennies!

Its limited edition status and designer label make this VBH Pony Purse quite covetable, but why then does the design fall flat?

But first, the good points. The pony hair is delicious, with the white tone ideal for setting off a cute summer ensemble. The off-white alligator handle is a particularly luxurious touch, sure to please those of us that can't get enough exotics. The thin black leather strips which fasten the straps to the purse look so modern, offset by the silver metal clasps.

But then there's that terrible black top stitching. I never mind a little contrast stitching to create an edgy punk vibe, but it’s got to look more professional than this. As I complained when taking in the brand's Glitter Clutch, those stitches look more like the makeshift work of an at-home sewer than an established design house. At least I had the sparkles to distract me with the clutch, but there’s no hiding the black-on-white stitches here.

The interior lets us down again, with a space that's all style with little substance. The suede lining is lovely, but it's also a rather impractical white. I'd be worried to carry my lipstick or soda bottle inside, although there's certainly the space to do it! I also feel we need much more than the zippered pocket to keep such a generous space organized.

This uninspired pony purse seems all the more ludicrous when you consider the price: a hefty $3150. Personally I can think of much better ways to spend a big fat wad of cash!

Forget the Museum of Modern Art or even the Guggenheim. Those are passé to Bergdorf Goodman nowadays.

The new kid on the block, or rather the newest addition to a long history of fantastic window displays, is the American Visionary Art Museum. The Manhattan museum aims to showcase works of “art produced by self-taught individuals, usually without formal training, whose works arise from an innate personal vision that revels foremost in the creative act itself."

I'm not sure anyone could peruse the collection, which includes a robot family, a pink wooden horse, and an enormous poodle-on-wheels named Fifi, and not think they arise from complete originality. Though it seems an odd setting for the showcase, the artwork is interspersed with some fashion, which are works of art in their own right, like Louboutin shoes and Valentino handbags.

I'm not sure if Bergdorf was merely aiming to surprise with this endeavor or had a genuine interest in highlighting some off-the-wall art. Either way, New Yorkers and tourists alike are bound to stop, look, and be entertained. Isn't that the real goal anyway?

I'll be the first to admit that I couldn't help but think of baseball paraphernalia when I saw this satchel. Something about the curved whipstitching detail automatically reminded me of the sport.

Baseball association aside, though it might be a bit hard to forget, the overall look of the Maxx New York Monsoon handbag is interesting and full of unique details. For one, the contrast of white leather with tan stitching draws the eye toward to the many features on the satchel.

The Monsoon has a contemporary, angular shape with a cutout handle. Perhaps the most unique addition, however, is the zipped-down, buckled-open front. It's slightly provocative and edgy but mostly just kind of cool.

Altogether, the details seem a tad overwhelming, but I think it would suit someone who's looking for a nice leather handbag that's a little out of the ordinary.
